Chapter 825 Seven-Second Memory

"Interesting." Looking at Alfonso's sudden appearance, Thor thought, "I chatted with Sander for so long and he didn't come over, but he just showed up as soon as he saw this mermaid. Could it be that this mermaid has something special besides being beautiful?"

Thor was already getting restless, but on the surface he remained calm and turned around. "I heard there's a real mermaid princess here. Come and see how she's different from other mermaids."

Alfonso bypassed Thor and went in first. "Pearl is the mermaid with the strongest royal blood. But that's all; in other aspects, she's not special. Even in terms of intelligence and spirituality, she's not as good as Coral."

He walked up to the glass wall and placed his hand on the glass.

Pearl immediately sank down curiously, staring wide-eyed at Alfonso's hand pressed against the wall, wanting to get closer.

The pearl, which was about to approach, was startled. The fish panicked and flipped over several times in the water, wagging its tail as it swayed all the way to the corner of the room, where it looked at Alfonso in terror.

With a blank expression and a downturned mouth, Alfonso turned to Saul and said, "I've done this trick more than a dozen times, and every time she gets scared."

Thor found it funny, but couldn't laugh directly, so he clapped his hands together and said, "I heard that fish only have a seven-second memory."

He walked to the glass, waited for seven seconds, and then, imitating Alfonso, placed his hand on the glass.

Alfonso frowned. "It can't be only seven seconds. Usually, she'll forget by the next day..."

Before he could finish speaking, Alfonso's eyes widened.

Because the pearl in the corner really did come back.

She stared with her milky-white, pearly eyes, and just as curiously approached Thor's palm as before.

When Pearl got very close, Thor also banged on the wall, and unsurprisingly, Pearl was startled and swam back to the corner.

Solmer then counted to seven and repeated the previous action.

He lured Pearl out from the corner once again.

Thor tugged at the mermaid he had brought over. "I want to see the difference between mermaid royalty and ordinary mermaids. Could you take some samples from Pearl?"

Alfonso's lips were pressed together, turning pale, and after a few seconds he finally spoke, "What kind of sample do you want?"

Thor listed them off one by one, "At least a bottle of blood, a palm-sized piece of skin, and if possible, I'd also like to cut a section of bone, preferably the spine..."

"Enough!" Alfonso suddenly hissed.

Thor looked up blankly, staring innocently at the other person. "What's wrong? Are pearls as rare and precious as the bloodline of the mermaid royal family?"

Alfonso said with some difficulty, "Pearl is currently the mermaid with the most atavistic traits among all the atavistic mermaids. Look, her tail is entirely covered in blue scales. Although she has a lower intelligence, she is still an important experimental subject. He reiterated to Saul, "Pearl is the only sample available right now. Under no circumstances should you touch her without my permission."

"Okay, I won't move." Thor nodded, looking both unwilling and resigned to his fate.

Alfonso could wait no longer. He glanced at Pearl and then disappeared.

"I guess they went to the tribunal." Thor's expression immediately relaxed.

Thor returned to the glass.

Pearl was still lying opposite Thor in the glass, but now her gaze was fixed on the spot where Alfonso had disappeared, as if she didn't understand how he had suddenly vanished.

At this point, Penny, who loves watching the drama unfold, wrote in her diary.

[Hehehe, Brother Thor, didn't you say you couldn't persuade her?]

Thor, holding the mermaid's hand, said, "Yes, I won't move."

He gently pushed the mermaid who was floating up with the levitation spell.

Thor's mermaid flew towards the glass, but somehow passed right through it and landed in the water-filled room on the other side.

In the water, the mermaid smiled, seemingly quite comfortable.

Thor knew that the one controlling the mermaid's body was the near-fifth-tier wizard Froco, so he didn't deliberately remind him.

Penny chattered away.

Saul ignored Penny and pointed at the water.

"Lord Floco, do not commit irreparable destruction."

He nodded, then moved closer to the pearl.

Pearl saw Flök fly toward the glass, and was initially frightened, but then quickly approached Flök out of curiosity.

Fromm did not draw blood; he simply stepped forward and took Pearl's hand.

Pearl, bewildered, was led by Froco and even subconsciously looked at Thor outside the glass.

When he noticed Pearl looking at him, Thor waved back, then he saw that Pearl's expression became even more bewildered.

Why is she making that face?

Before Thor could figure it out, Froco emerged from the water with his ugly fish face.

The whole process took less than a minute. Not a single drop of water was spilled.

"This so-called mermaid princess doesn't have my blood flowing through her veins."

"Isn't Pearl a member of the Blue Scale Clan?"

"It must be some side branch, with mixed bloodlines." Floco looked somewhat disappointed.

Perhaps deep down he still longs to find his bloodline descendants.

Not long after his disappointment, Froco raised his hand, and a drop of dark red liquid floated from his palm toward Thor.

"This is a small portion of the blood I extracted from her, and it won't affect her health. Unless someone drains all her blood for a checkup, they won't notice the difference. It will repair itself in two months."

This really helped Thor, and he quickly put away his mermaid bloodline. "Thank you."

"Oh, right, there's one more thing," Floco said hesitantly. "I don't know if you care, but her spiritual body has been deliberately damaged. The method was extremely sophisticated. You'd probably all think it was something she was born with."
