Chapter 797 Former Master
Chapter 797 Former Master
The encounter with Kismet was very brief.
After Ophelia's spiritual energy drifted over with the seawater, Kismet let Thor leave first, while he himself faced the wrath of the Sky City Lord in his place.
Although somewhat apologetic, Thor readily agreed to leave the trouble to Kismet.
He then continued his flight to his intended destination.
And long after he took off, no battle broke out between the two fourth-tier wizards behind him.
Thor looked back several times but didn't see anything unusual.
"They didn't fight?" he asked, somewhat puzzled.
Kismet once disguised himself as a second-tier being, pretending to acknowledge Ophelia as his master, which was somewhat of a mockery.
The conflict between these two must be quite significant.
Surprisingly, a fight hasn't broken out yet.
"It seems Kismet is quite the smooth talker; he managed to persuade Ophelia to go back."
Ideally, there should be no direct conflict.
Ophelia was, after all, a fourth-tier wizard and the lord of Sky City. Although her power was relatively small among fourth-tier wizards, it was not to be underestimated.
It's good to avoid escalating the conflict.
After waiting for more than ten minutes without any pursuers appearing behind him, Thor finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"It seems we've escaped."
The other consciousnesses were all congratulating Thor.
Only Pei'er's remaining spirit was not entirely satisfied.
[Look at you, so smug. You were just lucky to run into Kismet; otherwise, according to your original plan, that old witch would probably have caught up with you by now. Be grateful for your luck, otherwise you would have been completely devoured by that old witch, and then truly devoured!]
Thor shook his head.
"Luck is a force that cannot be controlled and is elusive and unpredictable. This time, I don't call it luck."
What is that?
"It's called the echo of the Symphony of Fate, the feedback of the power of fate, and of course, a touch of a cat's gratitude."
Pei'er seemed not quite to understand, yet also seemed to understand a little, and quietly quieted down in a daze.
Thor stopped talking.
At the edge of the horizon, a winding coastline appeared indistinctly.
……
Thor thought Kismet had persuaded Ophelia not to pursue him, but little did he know that when Ophelia saw Kismet, she was not angry at all, and without even needing him to say anything, she gave up on capturing Thor and landed on the back of the giant fish that Kismet was riding.
"Didn't I tell you to come back in six months?" Ophelia sat on the fin, her feet dangling in the seawater.
The giant ray, which had been paddling with its fins, suddenly became still and dared not move, floating on the surface of the sea like a corpse, drifting with the current.
"I think you imprisoned my master to prevent me from arriving early, didn't you?" Kismet sneered, his anger unreadable.
Ophelia said frankly, "How can it be called imprisonment? It's just an experiment."
"Aren't you focused on advancing to the fifth rank using the ancient water god's method? How come you have the energy to experiment with my master?"
At this point, Ophelia's expression finally changed, looking somewhat unwilling yet resolute.
"I originally just wanted to keep a clone as a backup plan. But after fighting a water elemental, I realized that I can never advance to the fifth rank using the methods of the ancient water god!"
"Water elemental life?" Kismet was puzzled. How come he didn't know that pure elemental life existed in this world?
However, that's not the most important thing right now.
"Are you sure the ancient water god's method can't be used for advancement? You're the only fourth-tier wizard in this world who specializes in water element. If even you can't advance using this method, then no one else has any hope."
Ophelia's expression darkened. "No. I've been overlooking one thing. The ancient water god wasn't human; he should be the legendary Azure Scale Clan, a type of mermaid. And the Azure Scale Clan can completely transform themselves into aquatic life forms. But me... no matter how close I get to the water element, I can never completely become a single-elemental life form."
Kismet showed no sympathy for Ophelia, and even suggested with a smile, "Or you could transform yourself into a merman from under the Red Sea Tree?"
Ophelia glared at Kismet. "Don't call the monsters created by the Tribunal mermaids."
"Indeed, I heard the Tribunal gave them a new racial name: Whalemen."
Ophelia didn't care at all. "They're just a bunch of lowly beings living in mud and garbage. It's a wonder they even came up with a name."
Kismet said nothing more and lowered his head to fiddle with his harp again.
Ophelia, however, lost her temper first. "Since you won't let me go and bring Thor back, let's start with our original plan."
Kismet suddenly looked up and stared at Ophelia.
Ophelia chuckled. "Why are you staring at me like that? Didn't we agree to work together to contact the former owner of the Death Wizard's Diary—Lord Douglas?"
Kismet remained expressionless. "Are you sure you want to contact him? He's no saint. Aren't you afraid that if you do, he'll turn around and use you as a snack?"
Ophelia's smile vanished.
Clearly, she also felt instinctively fearful when the diary's former owner was mentioned.
But Ophelia was a determined and quite stubborn person, and she quickly overcame her fear. "I dare to contact him, and I'm confident I won't be eaten. Now it's up to you whether you're willing to be my matchmaker."
Kismet lowered his head and gently plucked the strings of his harp.
The tinkling sound of the piano was drowned out by the sound of the surrounding waves.
"Even if I wanted to, it wouldn't matter. The only stargate is firmly controlled by the Stargate Council, preventing anyone from getting even a fraction of a step closer. How am I supposed to contact Douglas?"
Ophelia's eyes lit up immediately.
Her head suddenly flew off her shoulder, stretching her neck extremely long, and her face came right up to Kismet's.
Her face was full of excitement, so much so that her features were almost distorted.
"Who says there's only one stargate in this world?"
Before Kismet could ask, she confessed on her own initiative.
"This time, I helped Thor connect to another world, and on the way there, I discovered a tiny gap in the world's wall. It was through that gap that Thor was able to attempt to connect to other worlds!"
"Now we have our own stargate, and we no longer have to be beholden to those cowards!"
Kismet was completely shocked and remained silent for a long time.
After a long, long time, he finally lowered his head, his shoulders shaking, and he kept laughing.
"Sol can communicate with another world? Hehehe... He always manages to surprise me."
Ophelia squinted, waiting quietly for Kismet's reply.
The laughter stopped abruptly, and Kismet looked up again, his eyes contorted and twisted with malice.
"Since you've even prepared the breach in the world's barrier, I'll help you contact my former master. Perfect, I still have something stored with him!"
