Chapter 775 The Lecturer of Return
Chapter 775 The Returning Lecturer
Paul sat in the second-to-last row of the classroom with his friend Nero.
This is the default ranking of skill among apprentices.
Nero muttered to himself, "I hope I'm one of the lucky chosen ones today," but Paul didn't hear a word he said.
He knew that the name Thor was not common, but it wasn't impossible to have the same name as someone else.
But when he first heard the name, he inexplicably thought of Saul, the passenger on the airship who remained calm despite being interrogated by him.
However, he was just an ordinary person at the time, and even the detection equipment on the airship did not detect anything unusual about him.
Could this new lecturer really be the same person as the traveler who impressed Paul so much?
Just as Paul was struggling with his decision, the corridor suddenly fell silent.
"The tutor is here!"
The lecture hall fell silent instantly.
Everyone's eyes lit up.
However, when the door was pushed open and everyone saw the mentor enter, they all stared wide-eyed, looking completely bewildered.
"What are you looking at? Are you disappointed that it's not Wizard Thor?"
The person who came in turned out to be the class's original teacher.
His face was gloomy, and his gaze swept over everyone. He seemed to be in a very bad mood, and if anyone dared to be caught by him at this moment, he would teach them a lesson.
The apprentices in the classroom immediately suppressed their disappointment and surprise and sat down obediently.
But not all apprentices are afraid of their mentors.
The apprentice in the last row frowned, visibly disappointed. "Is Instructor Thor unable to come today?"
The wizard on the podium twitched his lips. "He's already been recruited by the Academy of Knowledge. You can forget about it—"
"Knock knock knock!"
A short, forceful knock on the door abruptly interrupted the wizard's voice from the podium.
The next second, Thor walked in from outside the door.
The wizard on the platform looked towards the door, his expression displeased. "Who are you?"
Saul walked unhurriedly to the podium. "This is the lecturer for this class."
The other person scanned Thor's entire body. Although he really wanted to casually say, "So you're Thor," he remembered that the other person was actively recruited by the Knowledge Institute, while he himself had failed the job application, so he smiled instead.
"So you are the wizard Thor. Did you leave something here?"
Thor knew that the person in front of him was the original lecturer he had been substituting for, but his purpose in lecturing here was no longer just to get close to Nathan. Therefore, he couldn't let this original lecturer return yet.
Saul turned his head and whispered a few words in the other person's ear. The latter opened his mouth but didn't speak for a long time. Then, at a certain moment, he suddenly realized what was happening and hurriedly gathered up the things he had placed on the podium.
"Okay, no problem, thank you so much! We'll be relying on you for these apprentices in the future!"
He seemed afraid that Saul would change his mind, so he quickly walked out of the classroom with the book in his arms.
The apprentices left behind in the classroom were both bewildered and delighted.
They thought they would never be able to take Thor's class again.
Paul, however, stared blankly at Saul, who was leaning calmly against the podium.
At that moment, he suddenly saw Thor look up and meet his gaze, giving a barely perceptible nod.
The morning passed quickly, and Saul continued to explain the knowledge about the positioning device to the third-level apprentices at his own pace.
During this time, some people mustered up the courage to ask other questions, and he answered the ones that were within his syllabus.
For these apprentices, certain in-depth knowledge cannot be easily acquired without the corresponding talent or comprehension.
After class, Thor was first approached by the wizard Laura.
"Wizard Thor, why don't you go to the Academy of Knowledge? I've never seen anyone refuse an offer from the Academy of Knowledge!"
Laura the Wizard looked shocked, but unconsciously softened her tone when speaking to Thor.
"It's not that I don't want to go, it's just that while I was teaching these apprentices, I suddenly realized that the knowledge and understanding I had previously overlooked had been filled in. I'm currently in a phase of mutual verification with my apprentices, and once I've completed this phase, I will report to the Academy of Knowledge."
Laura still felt it was a pity. For them, a group of first-order wizards who might be trapped in the Great Lecture Hall forever, the Institute of Knowledge was such an enviable place that they had to pretend not to care to maintain their self-esteem.
After dealing with Laura the Wizard, Thor was greeted by Paul.
Paul actually wanted to sneak away, but when he saw Saul as he was leaving, and thought of Mina, who lived with him, he forced himself to go up to her.
"Sol... Mentor."
Saul smiled and beckoned Paul to walk together.
"Don't worry about what happened on the airship. In fact, I should thank you for reminding me of 'The Cat Returns'."
Paul wasn't good at pleasing people, so in this situation he would just remain silent and shake his head.
So it was Thor who continued, "Now that you're here for class, don't you need to go back to working on the airship?"
"Recently, the airship has not received a departure permit."
"Really? It's been over a month already. Are we still unable to depart? Is there some kind of problem?"
"I don't know either."
Seeing Paul's unease, Saul stopped. "Where's your daughter?"
Paul immediately tensed up, but could only reply, "I'm staying at a friend's house."
"Don't be so nervous." Thor had no idea what terrible images this guy was imagining, his face had turned pale. "You did help me out, so if you have any questions in class later, you can ask me directly."
Paul, however, said, "Professor Saul, I... probably won't be going to class anymore."
"Afraid of me?" Thor raised an eyebrow.
He felt he was already the most approachable and kindest mentor in the lecture hall.
At least he hasn't made anyone vomit blood yet.
"No, no!" Paul waved his hands repeatedly in denial. "Third-level apprenticeships require tuition. My work on the airship is currently suspended, and Mina is with me..."
"Understood," Thor replied knowingly.
Paul's daughter, Mina, seems to possess remarkable spiritual talent. If she survives to the age of ten and passes the tests, she might become an even more powerful wizard than her father.
Paul's careful hiding made sense, lest he be captured by some hanged wizard and kept as material for witchcraft.
However, compared to Mina, whose situation is still unclear, Thor is more optimistic about Paul's abilities.
"However, your talent shouldn't stop at the third-level apprentice level. If you don't have time to come to class, you can wait for me outside after class, and I can give you ten minutes."
Paul clenched his hands, seemingly expressionless, but he was actually lost in thought.
Thor smiled, and without waiting for the other person's consideration, left directly.
After walking quite a distance, Penny asked, puzzled.
[Brother Thor, why do you suddenly want to continue attending classes? Weren't we planning to set up an auxiliary magic circle in the Knowledge Academy?]
Thor strode forward, leaving the wind and the crowd behind.
"The auxiliary magic circle will be set up, but there's no rush. It just needs to be completed before the experiment connecting to the iridescent world. As for teaching here, it's a backup plan I've prepared for another guy."
Penny pondered for a moment.
You mean... the water god?
