Chapter 77 Interesting Spirit Infusion
Chapter 77 Interesting Spirit Infusion
Before Saul could try to explain, Nick turned to the female apprentice in the electric chair and said, "That's enough. You can go now. You'll have a check-up at least once a month. If you feel anything unusual, you can come earlier."
When the induction chair is turned off, all restraints are released.
The female apprentice stood up, her steps a little unsteady, and nodded silently to Nick, her expression unreadable, neither happy nor disappointed.
Watching the female apprentice leave the lab and close the door, Nick said to Saul, "Now you know what we're doing?"
"I saw a spirit on that woman that didn't belong to her. Was she possessed by a spirit?" Thor tentatively analyzed.
"Her situation can't be called an invasion. Actually, it's more appropriate to call her 'he.' After all, that man's soul is the current owner of that body."
Solton's eyes widened immediately.
The man's soul? His current master?
What does this mean? Is it possession? Or has it been replaced with a different body?
"Our current experiment is actually a project of my supervisor, officially titled 'A Study on the Feasibility and Adaptability of Spirit Transference into the Corpse of Another Person.' However, the name is too long, so we just call it Soul Infusion."
Nick handed the documents in his hand to Saul so he could take a look.
"You don't have to read anything that makes you uncomfortable, since it's beyond your knowledge."
Saul looked down and started flipping through the pages.
Sure enough, he either couldn't understand most of the content or his eyes were overwhelmed by it.
He could only tell that it was an experimental observation record. The first few pages contained the identity files of the experimental subjects, followed by the dates, experimental procedures, and so on.
The files show that the test subject's soul came from a first-level apprentice in the tower, while the body belonged to a second-level apprentice who died for various reasons but whose body was relatively intact.
Level 1 apprentices are all older apprentices in their twenties who have not yet been able to advance to Level 2. Before the experiment, they sign a contract voluntarily relinquishing their original bodies and assuming all risks associated with the spiritual infusion experiment.
Of course, how voluntary this "voluntary" act is remains to be discussed.
There were also records of different reactions using the control panel, which he only glanced at.
There are too many parts I don't understand.
For example, the major attributes of the soul, the index of bodily reaction characteristics, the freshness of the flesh, the aggregation of the spirit, and a bunch of rune deductions...
After reading this record, Saul clearly felt his lack of knowledge.
He originally thought that knowledge could be acquired through self-study, but now he realizes that he was too arrogant.
However, in the past, he was always being watched by West Germany, and in order to survive, he had to resort to unorthodox methods. Now, he can focus on his studies and catch up on his progress.
Oh, I still need to deal with the vengeful spirit on my body first.
"Senior, is it easy for a spirit to transfer into another person?"
"Of course it's not easy. First, you have to maintain the rationality and integrity of your spirit. Vengeful spirits and evil spirits possessing a human body do not contribute to our research at all."
"Then comes the infusion step, which is quite painful for both the experimenter and the subject. After all, it's not the spirit's original body. And we encountered a major problem at this step." Nick stared at the top of Thor's head and said tentatively, "If you do research in this area in the future, we can take a look together."
He turned to the first page of the record and pointed to the gender of the spirit and the corpse.
"We can only infuse a man's soul into a woman's body, or vice versa. But we cannot infuse a man's soul into a man's body, nor can we infuse a woman's soul into a woman's body. Even our mentor doesn't understand where the problem lies."
Thor read the file again and found that it was indeed the case.
What is this?
Opposites attract, likes repel?
But does the soul also have a gender? Or is the gender of the soul based on the self-perception of the soul's consciousness?
Seeing that Thor seemed to be deep in thought and engrossed in the explanation, Nick felt that it was about time and continued explaining.
"The final step is the long process of maintenance and observation. Many spirits collapse shortly after entering a body. How to maintain them for a long time is also a challenge in this research."
"As for the observation, it's the experiment we just conducted. As you saw, it's quite interesting; the body and soul's responses to the stimulation of the electric chair are almost completely opposite. Therefore, the bodies they control behave very strangely. However, how to solve this is the instructor's job; we are only responsible for recording for now."
Nick took the notebook from Thor's hand. "I think you have a basic understanding of spirit infusion. Now we'll call in number two. Today, well... there will only be two people."
The second test subject was male.
He was also a second-level apprentice whom Saul had met with his mentor, Rum.
Are there only two people in total?
The female second-level apprentice who had rushed out from behind didn't come over.
Is there something wrong with her?
The testing process for Project Two was similar to that for Project One. Thor helped record the data, and that completed today's task. Subsequent experimental procedures were beyond Thor's involvement.
So, while Nick started packing, Saul made his request.
"Hmm?" Nick put down his notes and looked Thor up and down. "You're haunted by a vengeful spirit? Corpses in the Wizard's Tower undergo special treatment; it's rare for evil spirits or vengeful spirits to escape. Besides, being possessed by a vengeful spirit requires a certain emotional entanglement. Why... it couldn't be Sid, could it? Why does he hate you so much? Even in death, he's haunting you?"
Thor didn't know how to answer that question, so he could only scratch the back of his head with an innocent look on his face.
"I'm not quite sure either. It was Professor Rum who noticed the vengeful spirit on me and told me to come to my senior to deal with it."
"Your mentor... asked you to come to me for help?" Nick's eyes were a little strange, but he was extremely reserved and showed no outward signs of anything.
"Yes, that's right..." Thor suddenly felt a little uneasy under Nick's gaze.
"I understand." After a moment, Nick slowly raised his chin and pointed to the electric chair in front of them. "Then sit down."
Thor: "?!!!!!"
"Me? Sit up there?" Thor first pointed to himself, then to the electric chair opposite him.
"Yeah, you don't think a level two apprentice like me would be better at dealing with vengeful spirits than my mentor, do you?" Nick picked up the control panel again and started pointing and drawing. "Of course, it's because this place has the perfect electric chair for torturing vengeful spirits."
"Can an electric chair really exorcise vengeful spirits?"
"Too strong is no good, but if the vengeful spirit on you was really too strong, you wouldn't be alive now."
Nick adjusted the steering wheel and saw that Thor was still standing there without moving.
"Scared? Don't worry, it'll be... great."
Nick borrowed Saul's terminology.
Thor's lips twitched twice. "Shall I sit on it then?"
Nick nodded.
"Did I really sit on it?"
Nick looked at Thor with some doubt. "Go...?"
Saul saw that the diary was unresponsive, so it seemed that this was not Nick's assassination plot.
He recalled the expression on the male spirit's face when he first saw it and decided that he must control his expression when he sat on it later.
Saul climbed onto the high-backed chair, turned over, and sat down.
The electric chair immediately tailored a set of "torture devices" to Saul's physique.
But Nick came up and stuck the spikes into Thor's skin. The ends of the rope were thin, so it didn't hurt at all when they pierced his skin, just made him itch a little.
Nick only put ropes in Saul's wrists and ankles, deliberately avoiding Saul's left hand and neck, which are vital areas.
"Nick, senior?" Thor asked, puzzled.
"It's not like we're observing your emotions, there's no need to stick so many needles, just get rid of the vengeful spirit."
Nick walked back to the control panel and picked up the control stick as he spoke.
Thor's heart jumped into his throat.
He clenched his teeth and gripped the armrests of the electric chair tightly.
"Keep going...keep going..." Thor encouraged himself inwardly.
Then he saw Nick tap his hand on the control panel a few times.
Gan!
I promised to work extra hours this week, and I did it on Wednesday! (With dark circles under my eyes)
