Chapter 765 Level 3 Apprentice Nathan
Chapter 765 Nathan, Third-Level Apprentice
The lecture hall was quiet for a minute.
Thor frowned, looking disappointed.
"Can't anyone understand such a simple question?"
Saul's words jolted all the apprentices in the lecture hall like a bell.
Only David, whose locator had just been modified, remained seated with his eyes closed, deep in meditation.
He understood that this might be his only chance to become a full-fledged wizard.
With Thor's reminder, he naturally wouldn't be distracted by other matters.
But after Saul's prompting, a third-level apprentice finally raised his hand.
"Professor Thor, should we choose a GPS device that suits us?"
"Everyone knows that," Thor waved his hand, clearly disagreeing.
Several other people offered answers, such as matching attributes and catering to oneself, but Thor kept shaking his head.
At this moment, the apprentice in the middle of the last row suddenly spoke up, "Master, are you trying to say that we need to have a clear understanding of ourselves?"
Although answering the question wasn't Thor's goal, it didn't matter.
"That's right. If you can't understand yourself, then there's no point in talking about compatibility or attributes..."
Thor then briefly explained how to understand one's own attributes and know what one is better at.
"...Of course, everyone's situation is very complex, and the methods I'm about to share may not work for everyone, but that's precisely what you, as wizarding apprentices, need to think about. If you just rigidly accept information, then even a cat could become a wizard."
"Meow?"
Kate, who was peering out of the lecture hall window, said she felt offended.
Perhaps seeing that Saul could joke around and wasn't as serious and unapproachable as the other lecturers, an apprentice sitting in the front row cautiously raised his hand to ask a question.
"Mentor, could you give more examples of how to understand oneself?"
Saul walked into the aisle with his hands behind his back, pausing briefly beside the apprentice who had asked the question. A few beads of sweat immediately appeared on the latter's forehead.
Thor thought to himself, "I haven't even started scaring you yet."
He continued walking forward, "I hope you genuinely want me to give you an example, rather than using you as an example to replace your thought process. If you do that, even if you advance to become a formal wizard, you will quickly become alienated."
Thor walked all the way to the last row, then suddenly pointed to his target, "Let me just pick someone as an example. What's your name?"
The apprentice was somewhat surprised, not expecting that Thor would choose him.
You should know that in the past, instructors never paid attention to their apprentices in the last row.
However, he still stood up and said, "Mentor, my name is Nathan."
Thor nodded, deliberately avoiding looking at him, as if he really had just randomly chosen an apprentice.
"As Wizard Laura just told me, the apprentices in the last row are the ones with the best chance of promotion, so they don't usually monitor your progress. But that's precisely why using you as an example won't affect your thinking, since you've already thought about it quite thoroughly."
Thor waved his hand. "I'll check on you. Don't resist."
Thor didn't give Nathan a chance after he finished speaking, and used his mental power to scan the person from head to toe.
Nathan was somewhat stunned.
His expression was strange, seemingly surprised, yet also mixed with a hint of sudden realization.
Saul took Nathan's emotional shift to heart. "He seemed surprised, but not so much for using him as an example, but rather for his certainty about what was going to happen. Did he already foresee me doing this? Or foresee what would happen today?"
White porcelain cat!
Thor realized that Nathan had probably also used the White Porcelain Cat's abilities!
"So I became his luck? Or was he lucky to appear before me while I was waiting at the Broken Tower?"
No wonder Thor only waited two days before meeting Nathan.
So this is a two-way journey!
Saul smiled and began to reciprocate the white porcelain cat's good fortune, telling Nathan about his situation.
"You have good talent, stable mental strength, and sufficient magic reserves. Your locator is also quite suitable for your body."
Saul, of course, couldn't reveal all of Nathan's situation to others; he only told Nathan that there were several ways to understand his situation.
All the apprentices in the classroom turned around, including the other two in the last row, and then began taking notes.
After Thor finished explaining a few common methods, we waited a little while.
Nathan's face showed a hint of anxiety.
Thor's explanations were clearly valuable, but they didn't quite meet his needs.
Saul became increasingly certain of his guess before continuing, "Your locator proves you know yourself well enough, but..."
A single "but" made Nathan tense up again.
"Your GPS device is powerful, and you are too lazy."
"Master Thor, Nathan is actually working very hard." It was the apprentice in the last row who spoke up for Nathan.
"Not enough," Thor dismissed the others' thoughts. "I think you might be too lucky. You only tried a few times and got a fairly correct answer, which means that although you got the questions right, you didn't summarize the real pattern hidden in them. So now... you're about to lose control of your tracking device, aren't you?"
Thor smiled. This time, instead of helping Nathan modify the locator, he slowly walked back to the podium with his hands behind his back.
In stark contrast to Thor's relaxed demeanor were the shocked expressions on the faces of the other apprentices.
They all looked at Nathan.
Thor's last words were clearly a reminder to Nathan that his condition was already very dangerous.
Could it be that one of the geniuses in this class is actually a pathetic creature on the verge of being corrupted?
Of course, no one dared to voice their true thoughts, but the glances they occasionally gave back to Nathan betrayed their true intentions.
Nathan clenched his fists, his face flushing red and then pale, but he didn't explain anything. He simply sat back down after Thor left.
Although a class lasts for a whole morning, nearly four hours, no lecturer actually lectures the whole time.
After this explanation, Saul asked the apprentices in the classroom to examine themselves and forbade them from asking him any questions.
Meanwhile, Thor closed his eyes and meditated, pondering how he could continue communicating with Perle in the Rainbow World if Ophelia had any help.
This was clearly his real purpose for coming here.
Thor waited until noon, when he heard a peculiar bell sound, like a bird's call.
He then got up and left the classroom.
After Saul left, the apprentices in the classroom immediately began to whisper about their new substitute lecturer, praising his real skills while feeling both fear and relief.
Just then, a middle-aged man hurried into the classroom and went straight to the last row. "Nathan, lend me some money."
Nathan had intended to chase after Thor immediately, but was stopped by the newcomer. However, he showed surprise and no impatience.
"Paul? You don't have to go with the airship anymore?"
Paul was the third-level wizard apprentice who had interrogated Saul on the airship.
He was expressionless and looked somewhat gloomy.
"There was a fatality on the airship, and it's currently being detained and searched. I have no choice but to stay in Green Lane with Mina for now."
As Nathan took out his money, he asked in bewilderment, "Why do we need to impound an airship for someone's death these days?"
Paul shook his head. "I don't know either. It just seems like Sky City is under martial law right now. It's easy to get in, but you have to go through a strict search to get out."
Nathan's expression shifted slightly, but he quickly replied nonchalantly, "Whatever happens is a matter for those big shots; it has nothing to do with us wizard apprentices."
Paul said, "I hope so."
After leaving the lecture hall, Saul did not return to the hotel immediately.
He wandered around the neighborhood and then met the wizard Laura.
Laura seemed somewhat surprised, as she appeared to have already heard about Thor's lessons from the other apprentices.
Few formal wizards talk about locators.
Firstly, this is a trump card skill; secondly, even a first-tier formal wizard has limited understanding of the locator, and it would be embarrassing if an apprentice stumped him.
"Wizard Thor is truly amazing. I think you'll be able to enter the Academy of Knowledge soon."
Thor was about to answer when he suddenly sensed a familiar magical fluctuation approaching, so his answer became...
"I hope so, but sometimes... I really lack luck. This trip to Sky City wasn't as smooth as I had imagined," he said with a wry smile.
His face was full of sincerity.
