Chapter 764 On-site Modification of Positioning Device

Chapter 764 On-site Modification of Positioning Device

Sol signed the substitute teaching agreement on the spot.

Although the salary is pitifully low.

After signing the substitute teaching agreement, Laura didn't waste a second, handed him a copy of the former lecturer's teaching plan, and left.

Saul walked up to the podium, casually asked some of the apprentices who had stood up to bow to sit down, and began to look through the teaching plan.

He hasn't taught many people; his only apprentice is currently a first-level apprentice who also works as a charlatan.

So he never thought about how to teach people.

However, having decided not to use witchcraft to get close to the boy in order to prevent the strangeness on him from disappearing, Thor naturally wanted to first get closer to the boy.

Ideally, the boy should take the initiative to contact him.

In an instant, Thor had figured out his persona: a young wizard with some skill and a bit of arrogance, but often lacking in luck.

Thor quickly skimmed through half of the previous instructor's course plan and discovered that they had already covered how to use composite runes to improve the originally simple sorcery array, increasing its effectiveness and reducing energy consumption.

Most of the students below were not paying attention to Thor's actions; they were more engrossed in their heavy witchcraft books or writing their own study notes.

They don't seem to really care what the lesson is about.

Thor looked at the schedule; Level 3 apprentices only had two classes a week, each lasting a whole morning.

The content of this teaching plan could be covered in a year.

Saul slammed the two-finger-thick teaching plan back onto the podium with a loud thud.

Several wizard apprentices sitting in the classroom were startled and nervously watched the new instructor, fearing that he might also take a dislike to someone and beat them up.

Here, it's all too common for senior apprentices to bully junior apprentices, and for instructors to bully apprentices.

Some people stayed out of it because of their special status or abilities, while others couldn't stand it and left.

But most apprentices remained in the main lecture hall, since it was the cheapest academy.

As long as they want to continue to advance, these apprentices with no background can only endure the local environment and study hard, hoping to one day become formal wizards.

Saul's sudden act of slamming the book startled some of the apprentices in front, but the apprentices further back reacted less.

Especially the people in the last row, they didn't even look up, concentrating on doing their own thing.

Meanwhile, Thor's target was resting his chin on his hand, looking out the window at the sky, seemingly lost in thought.

Saul ignored them for the moment, instead placing his arms on the podium, leaning forward, and speaking in a slightly higher tone than usual: "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Saul, and I'm your substitute lecturer. I won't be here for long, so I'll arrange the course content myself during this period. If any of you still want to take the planned courses, you can come and study on your own. As long as you don't make noise, I won't interfere with whether you're listening to my lectures or not."

As soon as Thor finished speaking, everyone looked at each other in surprise, while some immediately took out other books and began to read.

The three apprentices in the last row still did not react.

Thor remained calm and snapped his fingers with his left hand. Immediately, a cloud of red smoke appeared on the left side of his body and quickly condensed into several large characters.

Choosing a positioning device.

The eyes of the several third-level apprentices who had been watching Thor widened immediately.

"I've noticed that although you've all connected to your own GPS devices, most of you're not very connected."

As he spoke, Saul stepped down from the podium, casually picked up an apprentice sitting in the first row, and pulled him to the front.

"Like this apprentice, who went to great lengths to find a positioning device that was not suitable for him, and then forced himself to modify himself to adapt to that positioning device that was not suitable for him."

Thor didn't hold back and ripped open the apprentice's robe, revealing his chest underneath.

The apprentice had a metal cylinder in the middle of his chest.

It's hollow, the kind where you can easily put your hand through.

As the outer robe was torn off, the metal cylinder immediately emitted a whistling sound.

"This piece of trash is essentially a wind-attribute locator. Oh, by the way, what's your name?"

"Davis, mentor."

David was completely dumbfounded.

Although a Level 3 apprentice is no longer particularly nervous or careful to hide his locator, being exposed in public and called trash still made him very unhappy.

But even stronger emotions than displeasure were fear and shame.

Because he also knew that his locator was really terrible, and he had almost no chance of becoming a formal wizard.

Once the other apprentices found out about this, they would never treat him as an equal again.

David tried hard to suppress his mental state and prevent his excited emotions from being transmitted to his body, but this was noticed by his mentor, Thor.

Just as David was feeling hopeless about his future and wondering if he should drop out like the other hopeless third-level apprentices and find an ordinary job, he heard Saul's voice again.

"I don't know where you got this garbage locator formula from, or if the formula itself is incomplete, but after your own modifications, it truly deserves the name 'garbage'."

David's head was practically drooping down to his chest.

But then, Thor's words suddenly changed.

"But you can also be proud of yourself, because the only thing you did right was not to completely ruin yourself for this piece of junk locator, and this piece of junk can be modified to barely be upgraded to ordinary quality."

Thor snapped his fingers again, and the red text next to him, "Positioning device selection," changed to "Compatibility."

By now, everyone except the three apprentices in the last row had raised their heads and were staring intently at Saul and the nervous David, afraid of missing a single word.

"David, you are of the wind element. Choosing a metal sorcery material for the locator will actually suppress the flexibility of wind." Thor raised his hand and actually pulled the metal cylinder out of David's chest.

David's legs went weak and he almost fell to the ground, but Saul grabbed him and prevented him from falling.

Thor gave the locator a gentle shake, and the entire locator shattered into pieces, hovering in the air.

Thor flicked his wrist, tossing several metal parts out the window.

"First, remove any parts that are no longer usable or are considered waste."

Another seemingly inconspicuous wooden board appeared in his palm, with charred marks on it.

"Then replace it with more suitable materials. Oh, this lightning-struck wood is of average quality, but it's not cheap either. You'll need to replenish the magic crystals for me later."

David nodded blankly.

He was stunned. Why did he have this feeling that his mentor, Thor, was going to modify his locator on the spot?!

Thor's hands were like a precise machine; with a few strokes on the lightning-struck wood, he transformed the entire plank into uniformly shaped parts.

Under Thor's magical manipulation, these parts were directly assembled in mid-air into a cylinder with a hexagonal cross-section.

Then Saul flicked David's original locator materials into the new wooden barrel one by one.

"Then put in the remaining, barely usable junk from your locator, and you'll have a mediocre locator."

Thor drew a miniature magic circle in the air with his hand, then inscribed it on the new locator before shoving it into David's chest.

David looked down at his new locator, his face first showing fear—after all, he hadn’t tested this new one at all—and then it turned into surprise!

"You might need some time to adjust. Go back and meditate." Thor shoved the dazed David back into his seat. "At least now you have a 30% chance of becoming a full-fledged wizard."

After that, he walked back to the podium.

This time, even the three wizard apprentices in the last row looked at him in shock.

"So, does anyone understand what the truly important step in my transformation was?"
