Chapter 60 The Strongest Level Two Fighter

Monroe let out a long sigh.

Saul was waiting for Monroe to continue, but the other man only intended to answer that much of the second question.

When Thor pressed for further details, Monroe said that it was not something Thor should know at this point.

The hourglass was almost empty.

Thor immediately asked, "May I ask, who is the most powerful second-level apprentice in the Wizard Tower right now?"

Monroe chuckled. "Right now, the one generally acknowledged to be the strongest fighter is a second-level apprentice named Kong Sha, who specializes in dark elemental magic. It's just a pity that being the strongest doesn't necessarily mean being the most likely to advance to the third level."

As Monroe finished speaking, the last grain of sand in the blue hourglass fell into the glass below.

"Time's up, want to renew?" Monroe touched the small hourglass, seemingly preparing to turn it over again.

But Saul shook his head, thanked Monroe, and turned back to his seat.

Monroe, somewhat disheartened, dispelled the magic, put away the hourglass, and continued reading.

On his way back, Thor passed the long table where Duke and Dozer were, but did not see Rocky.

When Thor looked over, both of them instinctively avoided his gaze.

After returning to his seat, Thor noticed Claire looking over and shared some information with her.

"One credit for five minutes, and the question can be kept confidential, but it will cost an extra credit... if you trust him to keep it confidential."

Keli frowned. "It's still very expensive. Why didn't you ask your advisor?"

Thor looked at Claire with a puzzled expression. "You see your mentor quite often?"

Keli said, "It's not very often, maybe once every three or four days."

Thor was speechless. It had only been three or four days; sometimes he could only see his mentor, Kaz, once every ten days or more.

Whether or not he is willing to answer his questions depends on Kaz's mood and how busy he is.

Another person who secretly guided him, and could barely be considered a mentor... Thor has only met him twice so far.

After class, Thor was planning to go to the meditation class with Claire, but when he glanced out of the corner of his eye and saw that Doze and Duke were walking in opposite directions, he paused and decided to skip the meditation class.

As Claire walked along, she complained to Thor about how many people had strange habits when they meditated, but she realized halfway through her sentence that Thor had disappeared again.

Keli rolled her eyes.

The sixth floor of the West Tower is the dormitory area.

As Saul walked back to his dormitory, he passed by the doors of rooms 613 and 614.

Doze seemed to be about to knock on the door, but upon seeing Thor, he quickly turned around and returned to room 613.

Thor glanced up and saw that Room 614 must be where Rocky lived.

He wondered, "After I scared Rocky away yesterday, has he been hiding in his dorm ever since? Does he have no one backing him up? Or is it really just because of love?"

Saul's life as an apprentice was quite different from that of other apprentices; he had little enjoyable entertainment outside of his studies.

Only corpses, stale blood, and souls that occasionally convulse.

Therefore, he couldn't quite understand why a little boy would face danger for a little girl.

Perhaps it's because people in this world mature earlier.

Thor returned to his dormitory, thought for a moment, then pushed the door open a crack and peeked towards room 614.

He didn't see Dozer go to Rocky; instead, he saw Duke come out of 614.

"Duke, what's with you everywhere?" Thor squinted.

After leaving Rocky's room, Duke did not return to his dormitory, but instead walked to the end of the corridor and went up the ramp.

Before going up, Duke looked back once more, as if to see if anyone was following him.

With no obstructions on the slope, Thor naturally wouldn't follow.

Even if he didn't follow, he could guess who Duke was going to see.

In the middle of the night, Thor left the dormitory and climbed upstairs.

The wizard tower remained eerily cold at night, with the dim candlelight only illuminating a small area nearby.

When Saul was still a servant, he was always worried that a ghostly face might suddenly appear in the areas where the light could not reach.

Even now, though he is a wizarding apprentice, he still fears those dark corners.

When he reached the tenth floor, Thor paused for a moment.

There seemed to be a dark figure loitering in the corridor on the tenth floor, but when Thor looked closely, he couldn't see anything at all.

He didn't look any further and quickened his pace to the thirteenth floor.

Kongsha's door opened as soon as she knocked; the other person was probably waiting for her too.

"West Germany is about to make its move."

As soon as Kongsa closed the door, Saul said bluntly.

"Are you sure? Killing a second-level apprentice without provocation in the Wizard Tower has serious consequences. Everything here belongs to... the Tower Master." Kongsha took a deep breath, trembling. Even mentioning the title seemed to terrify her. "Have you considered the consequences of misjudging your target and becoming the aggressor?"

Saul said, "I know the apprenticeship rules are clearly written."

An apprentice who kills a servant without cause will have credits deducted; an apprentice who kills another apprentice without cause will be skinned alive and have credits deducted; an apprentice who harms his mentor without cause will be disposed of at the mentor's discretion.

"But those rules all have a premise of 'no cause'. If I resisted and accidentally killed West Germany, then it wouldn't count as no cause."

Seeing Kong Sha remain silent, Thor spread his hands: "Senior, Sid has already taken control of the two new recruits around me. If he strikes again, it will definitely be a killing blow. Are you really willing to watch me die as a result of Sid's scheme?"

After all, it was a pawn that had been painstakingly placed into the morgue.

Although the chess pieces went out of control halfway through.

Saul tried to make his voice sound sincere. "Let's stick to the plan. You get the brain of a second-level apprentice, and I get one less enemy."

Kong Sha's red lips suddenly curled up, and she sat back in the chair, her toes twirling in the air.

"Tell me your detailed plan."

Thor breathed a sigh of relief; the second step of his plan had been accomplished!

He connected his experiences over the past two days with the actions of West Germany.

Much of this is speculation.

But Thor doesn't need to verify whether his guesses are true or false; he just needs West Germany to show up at the last moment.

"He first contacted a girl named Jenna who had participated in a support group... You know support groups, right?"

Kong Sha nodded.

Even Kongsa knows about the mutual aid society; its influence is probably greater than Thor imagined.

"The newcomer discovered the parasites in the mutual aid society, came to me for help, but exploded right in front of me."

Kongsha touched her lips. "The parasites from the mutual aid society aren't deadly, so it shouldn't be the work of the mutual aid society."

"That's what I think too. Besides, the explosion wasn't that big. Even if I hadn't been wary of Jenna, it would have been hard for me to die in the explosion." Thor looked down. He could still remember the girl looking at him with hopeful eyes just a second before the explosion.

Thor snapped out of his reverie and continued, "So, I guessed Jenna had something else up her sleeve. Sure enough, a few days later, a boy named Rocky came to me to track down Jenna."

"He's dead too?"

"No, but he didn't show up for several days afterward. However, precisely because he didn't die, I had a feeling that he would come looking for me again. And when he came looking for me again, that would be the time for West Germany's killing move."

Kongsa stopped rubbing her lips with her fingers. "I didn't understand this part. Since you know he was also sent by West Germany, why didn't you just kill him?"

"A known enemy is always easier to deal with than an unknown one," Thor slowly explained to Kongsa. "Sid is a very cautious man; he never does anything himself. He always has others do all the dirty work that requires killing. But now I've angered him, and my strength is growing rapidly. If he attacks me again, he definitely won't want to fail."

"Therefore, he will definitely show up at the last minute to ensure that his plan does not fail."

Thor was certain that Sid would show up because he was sure the other person would come looking for the Death Wizard's Diary, lest it be picked up by a passerby.

But the diary must not be revealed in the slightest.
