Chapter 469 Temporary Teammates
Chapter 469 Temporary Teammates
"Do we always need several people to go together?"
Saul went inside and saw a man who was so thin he was practically skin and bones in the corner of the room. The man was leaning against the wall, with dark circles under his eyes, as if he hadn't slept well for months.
"Of course, this is for safety reasons." The woman pushed herself up on her knees and stood up, a somewhat frivolous smile on her face.
"In this mission, we are temporary teammates. Let me introduce myself, Julie, a first-tier wizard specializing in light magic."
The stunningly beautiful witch, whose age was hard to discern, pointed to another lean male witch who had remained silent and said, "He is Xia, also a first-tier wizard, specializing in lightning."
Thor nodded and said to the two of them, "Thor..."
"The youngest first-tier wizard in the western region, Thor, specializes in dark magic and is an apprentice of Gorsa, the master of the Wizarding Tower." Julie crossed her arms, her breasts bulging even though she didn't seem to exert much force. "Don't worry, we not only know your name, but we've also seen your portrait. Only ordinary people and a few reclusive wizards don't know about you."
"However, your appearance seems to have changed a little too."
Julie and Saul were about the same height. She leaned forward as she spoke, as if trying to see more clearly. As she drew closer, Saul felt a warmth like sunshine after rain emanating from her.
It is relaxing.
"They look better in person," Julie said with a smile that crinkled her eyes.
"If you want to go to bed, hurry up and finish the mission. I don't want to waste time here." Char, who was hiding in the corner, seemed to have had enough and took a few steps toward the center of the room, but was still a long way from Thor and Julie.
He practically hugged the wall as he walked to the bedroom door. "Judging from the static electricity reaction, it's a newly born evil spirit, or even just a vengeful spirit."
Char glanced at them briefly before turning to Thor and Julie. "I really don't understand why they need three wizards to come over with this level of unusual radiation. Isn't that a waste of resources?"
Julie rolled her eyes. "When the situation is unclear, you need to call three people over. If there's one less wizard, you need at least three level three apprentices to fill the spot of one full wizard."
"Something's wrong!" Char suddenly shouted, startling Thor, who hadn't noticed any danger.
"You two seem to know each other so well, you must have known each other before. This is definitely a trap, a trap you set for me! I'm withdrawing from this mission!"
Char seemed to have suddenly gone mad. With his back against the wall and his eyes fixed on Thor and Julie, he quickly slid out of the room.
Then the high-frequency footsteps gradually faded away.
Thor was dumbfounded.
How did the other party suddenly come to this conclusion?
Julie slapped her forehead, sighed helplessly, and said to Thor, "Char is mentally unstable. He's always thinking someone wants to kill him, especially when he's with strangers. He'll be fine once you get to know him better."
After saying that, Julie also went to the bedroom door to take a look. "But his judgment is correct. The newborn evil spirit is not very dangerous."
Julie turned and raised an eyebrow at Saul. "Now it's just the two of us. How about it, dare to continue the chase without outside help?"
Thor cracked his knuckles. "What's there to be afraid of?"
Anyway, he always carries his foreign aid with him.
Julie's eyes relaxed. "Very good, just my taste."
The two began searching the room for the missing evil spirit. Julie closed her eyes, stood in the center of the bedroom, and bowed her head, seemingly listening.
Thor squinted, using a semi-immersive meditation technique to observe the traces inside the room.
He saw large amounts of black smoke on the bed and on the floor.
The smoke resembles black smoke from burning, with a distinct granular texture.
The smoke left the heaviest marks on the bed, suggesting it had lingered there for a long time.
Thor followed the smoke step by step out of the bedroom and then outside the room.
"The abnormal radiation was detected in the room, but it now appears that after the evil spirit erupted, it suppressed its aura and left the room."
Not long after, Julie also came out of the room and walked straight to the public restroom on this floor of the apartment.
Unlike Thor, who followed the tracks on the ground, she seemed to know the final location first, but was unaware of the process in between.
The two of them entered the men's restroom almost simultaneously.
Facing a somewhat rusty washbasin.
"Tsk tsk...really." Julie rubbed her nose. "Even though it's become an evil spirit, it still has a human form. Can't it just use a normal passage?"
Thor turned on the tap and felt a slight magical fluctuation, followed by a flow of clear water.
"Have the people outside block the water pipes in this building. If this evil spirit is good at hiding, we may have to search for it section by section."
"The intense emotions I could sense ended there. Obviously, the evil spirit was satisfied to some extent afterward, so the traces faded. It seems we can only search as you suggested..." Julie bit her lip, clearly disliking this method of pursuit.
Just then, a scream suddenly came from downstairs.
Saul and Julie exchanged a glance, and then ran downstairs together.
The difference was that Julie ran straight to the stairwell, her long, white legs moving so fast they were almost blurry.
Thor, however, simply climbed out of the corridor window and jumped down, disregarding the fact that he was on the 20th floor.
Instead of using flight techniques, he waited until he reached the height of the sound source and then immediately had Xiaozao swing him into the corresponding floor.
Upon arriving at his current location, he saw an elderly woman lying on the floor of the nearby washroom, struggling to move out on her hands and feet, tears and snot streaming down her face.
He was clearly terrified.
Inside the washroom, a faucet was turned on, and a liquid resembling minced meat was dripping out with a "plop plop" sound.
Thor walked over and simply removed the dragon head.
The minced meat splashed into the pool, but no soul was mixed in.
There wasn't even a fragment.
At this moment, Julie also arrived. Looking at the scene in the pool, she didn't turn pale or vomit, but she was clearly not used to such a scene.
She watched as Thor calmly took out a glass rod and stirred it, and her lips finally twitched involuntarily. She thought to herself, "No wonder he comes from the Wizarding Tower, he's really twisted."
Saul was unaware of Julie's opinion of him.
In order to conduct resurrection experiments, he had studied human bodies extensively and also read a lot of other people's experimental data.
Such a scene no longer evoked even a feeling of nausea in him.
Of course, he still doesn't like it, but his professional research allows him to temporarily ignore his personal preferences.
Two minutes later, Saul cleaned the glass rod, put it back in the storage container, and went outside the washroom.
The old woman was still staring at the doorway, seemingly terrified.
Saul crouched down and offered her a comforting gesture.
Julie's eyes flickered when she saw this.
The security team finally arrived on this floor. They muttered, "There are still people who haven't evacuated," and quickly carried the unconscious old woman away.
"Did you find anything?" Julie stepped forward.
"The minced meat is very clean," Saul said. "Do you know where these pipes lead?"
Julie's fair face dimmed slightly.
"The underground sewers." She paused, her eyes glazed over. "I should have changed my clothes."
