Chapter 349 Come and get it

Chapter 349 Come and get it

The temperature inside the room plummeted.

The harmonious and pleasant atmosphere just now shattered like a mirror, revealing the truth behind it.

Thor paused for a moment, then subconsciously turned his neck to look at Instructor Kaz.

But Kaz remained silent, expressionless.

Thor then recalled that although Instructor Rum had been in a good mood, Instructor Kaz hadn't seemed to smile much.

He even seemed a bit anxious.

"Something must have happened that I don't know about!" Thor withdrew his gaze, bowed to the two mentors one by one, and then left Mentor Rum's room.

He didn't hear Rum and Katz speak again until he walked out the door.

"Something must have happened! Why can't you tell me? Or rather, why do we have to wait for Instructor Gorsa to tell me?"

Hayden was waiting for Sol at the ramp on the 16th floor of the East Tower.

But when he saw Thor and greeted him, the latter ignored him and continued walking down the road, deep in thought.

This made Hayden nervous as well.

Although he was surprised that the regular soul infusion tests had suddenly stopped, he felt more confident than the other test subjects because he knew that Thor could perform soul infusions independently.

Moreover, when he looked at Thor, the latter calmly nodded at him, which reassured Hayden even more.

But to his surprise, when Saul came out of Rum’s room, he also looked so solemn, and Hayden’s heart immediately skipped a beat.

"Lord Thor?" She couldn't help but jog a few steps to catch up.

Saul stopped, gathered his thoughts, and said to Hayden, "Go back and rest. Although your wound has healed, it's not advisable to immediately join new experiments."

"Okay." Hayden nodded repeatedly.

"Oh, right, I should review the skills I learned in the morgue when I get back."

Hayden was taken aback, and Mumu's expression looked even more blank.

"Starting tomorrow, you will also participate in the experimental testing against Oman. You will be responsible for observation and recording; I have other things to do."

Hayden finally realized what was happening, but she felt uneasy.

"Sir, my hands may not be as steady as they used to be."

Thor nodded. "I know, but don't forget, when I brought you along, I didn't really mean to make you a test subject. You've already lost your first precious thing; don't let your second one become rusty too."

After he finished speaking, he quickly walked down the East Tower without waiting for Hayden, who was still standing there in a daze.

Hayden remained rooted to the spot, silently saying, "The second... what you're referring to is the ability I honed over a decade in the morgue. But what was the first precious thing?"

Hayden thought about it for a long time but still couldn't figure it out.

Thor told Hayden to go back on his own, partly because he wanted to think about the last piece of information revealed by his mentors Rum and Katz, and partly because he wanted to find someone.

Mentor Rum, intentionally or unintentionally, revealed to him that the Soul Infusion had once used the eyes of the Thousand-Eyed Banshee from the Landship as material. However, because Gorsa no longer traded with the Landship, the original material could no longer be used.

Adding to Rum's act of uncovering the test subject's skull today, Thor immediately thought of Kongsa, who only had half a head left, and whose new skull was full of eyeballs.

Since Kongsa learned about the elves at the exchange meeting, Thor has hardly heard from her again.

But judging from Heywood's reaction when he tried to stop her, Kongsa was probably about to do something very dangerous.

I just don't know if she succeeded, or... died out there.

Thor easily found his way to the second-level apprentices' dormitory area. He raised his hand and knocked loudly on Kongsa's door.

But after waiting for a while, no one came out.

Just then, someone came out of a nearby door and looked up to see Saul waiting at the door of Kongsa.

"Ah, Thor... senior." The other person hesitated at first, but still took the initiative to greet him.

Thor turned his head and saw that it was someone he knew.

Monroe, a second-level apprentice who has mastered almost all 0th-order sorcery and many 1st-order sorcery, is still teaching new apprentices basic knowledge of all things.

One of his apprentices once called him a "walking knowledge base".

However, it seems that Monroe has been spending too much energy expanding his knowledge base, and he has not been promoted in recent years.

In addition, aside from reading, he hardly participates in any other activities, making him a rather transparent figure among the advanced apprentices.

In contrast, Saul had long been unbalanced in his studies. But his rate of progress was undeniable.

Becoming a Level 3 Apprentice within three years is a speed that has broken the Wizard Tower's record.

He was already a legend among the apprentices.

Thor rarely interacted with other apprentices; he mostly saw corpses and his mentors, neither of whom showed much surprise at his rapid progress.

"Senior Monroe."

Saul was not arrogant; Monroe had answered many of his questions—although these answers were paid for—but Saul respected the seniors who had helped him.

Are you looking for Kongsha?

"Yes, I have some questions I'd like to ask her."

"She's been away from the tower for a long time. So long that some people suspect she's already died outside."

Thor sighed.

He had also made this guess.

If Kongsa really went to the "Valley of Elves" that Billy mentioned, perhaps she really wouldn't be able to come back.

She's not young anymore; she's only a year or six months away from turning thirty.

Braving her life to go to the Elf Valley is probably her last chance to advance to level three.

Kongsa wasn't in the tower, and there was no one to answer the questions Thor wanted to ask.

Thinking of this, Saul looked up at Monroe and said, "Thank you."

Thor was about to turn and leave, but Monroe called him back.

"Sol, Kongsa went to see you before she left. But you didn't seem to be there, so she asked me to give you something when we met."

"Leave it to me?" Thor was somewhat surprised. He remembered that after trading the Elven Whisper with Kongsha, the two of them had hardly interacted. Why would she come to find him before leaving?

Before today, Thor probably wouldn't have wanted it at all, but having just conducted the soul infusion experiment, Thor is genuinely curious about Kongsa's situation.

"What is it? Let me see."

Thor didn't reach out; he might not accept anything from Kongsa.

Then Monroe started rummaging through his clothes.

Thor frowned inwardly. "What is that that Monroe carries around with him?"

"Huh? Where did it go? I remember it was on my person."

Monroe searched his entire body for a while but couldn't find it. This shouldn't have happened to a meticulous wizard apprentice.

"I might have left it in my dorm room. Why don't you come in with me and take a look?" Monroe looked up and invited Saul into his dorm room.

Thor's foot stopped abruptly after taking a step alongside Monroe.

Hearing footsteps but not following, Monroe turned around, gripping the doorframe. "What's wrong?"

Thor smiled. "I'll wait here for you, senior."

Then he added, "Actually, I didn't really want to accept Kongsa's gift either."

Monroe seemed surprised by Saul's words and stood rooted to the spot, only one eye visible due to the obstruction of the door.

The eye stared fixedly at Thor for about three seconds.

The atmosphere became a little strange.

Saul raised his hand, fingertips touching, not intimidated at all, and quietly looked back at Monroe.

Then Monroe suddenly moved; he went into the room and quickly began searching.

About half a minute later, Monroe's surprised voice came from the room.

"So this is where it was."

Then Thor heard a strange "gurgling" sound, and he suddenly took two steps forward, going straight to the door of Monroe's dormitory and looking inside.

He saw Monroe lower his hand from his face and look at him.

Monroe was still clutching the eyeball that had been roughly ripped from its socket.

His eyelids were brutally torn, and blood quickly flowed down half his face, soaking his collar.

Thor raised his eyebrows.

If Monroe were to offer him an eyeball that had been squeezed out of shape... he wouldn't accept it!

But Monroe only glanced down at the obviously damaged eyeball, casually tossed it to the ground, then raised his hand and stuck two fingers into the empty, bloody eye socket.

The friction between the fingers and muscles, lubricated by the blood, produced a strange "gurgling" sound once again.

Then, he pulled two fingers out of his eye sockets, his fingertips seemingly pinching something.

It just "seems".

Because at the tips of Monroe's two fingers, there was nothing at all.

Monroe slowly straightened his arm toward Saul.

"Come on, take it."
