Chapter 268 Trap

Chapter 268 Trap

The people struggling to explore the town had no idea that after dark, new wizard apprentices would be drawn to the tomb array outside the town gates, wanting to enter Mosail Town to find out what was going on.

Billy, who usually had a gloomy face, rarely showed a smile.

He squatted down by the field with great interest, looking at the array of graves in the ground.

Angela, completely wrapped in a cloak, stood impatiently behind him.

"Didn't you say this town had been massacred and that I was sent here to absorb soul fragments? But these graves are clean and tidy; it's clear that someone else got there first."

Upon hearing Angela's complaints, the slight smile on Billy's lips vanished.

"What do you know? This is an auxiliary array for cultivating curses! The things hidden in this town are far more valuable than your soul fragments."

Billy stood up and looked towards the town gate not far away.

A heart-wrenching silence spread outwards from the town.

"A curse nurtured by the power of an entire town..." Billy licked his lips. "Going in might mean death."

Angela tensed up immediately upon hearing Billy's mutterings.

After spending a few months together, she had a clear understanding of what kind of person her temporary companion was.

He'll dive headfirst into anything that interests him, no matter how dangerous it may be.

Angela, who had stayed obediently in the laboratory after entering the Wizard Tower and hardly participated in any dangerous activities, had already left her comfort zone by leaving the Wizard Tower.

Not to mention that these past few days, she has practically been through thick and thin with Billy.

Why go outside to collect souls? There are more resources there, and you don't have to be as careful as you are in the wizard's tower.

It was all a lie!

Just when Billy had finally decided to return to the tower, he was unexpectedly drawn to the strange occurrences along the way.

It now seems likely that he is preparing to enter that unknown town across the street, which has become a cursed land.

"I'm not going," Angela immediately objected.

"You can't leave me," Billy said, not allowing her to argue.

"Why? My strength is simply not enough. If I go in with you, I'll only hold you back. If you want to go, then go. Can't I just go back to the Wizard Tower and wait for you?"

Billy didn't say anything more; he expressed his opinion through his actions.

Angela initially stood still. But as Billy walked further and further away, she began to feel a dull ache in her lower abdomen.

"Damn it." Angela had no choice but to jog to catch up.

Billy put a special poison in her body, and unless he gave Angela an antidote that would allow her to temporarily stay away, Angela could not leave within 100 meters of Billy.

Otherwise, the pain will spread from the lower abdomen to the whole body.

As for what kind of damage the pain might eventually cause... Angela didn't dare to try.

Billy, certain that Angela wouldn't dare risk her life to test the effects of his toxins, calmly placed his hand on the city gate.

A pale green gas seeped from his palm and spread to the city gate.

This gas is highly corrosive; upon contact with the gate, it immediately corroded a large hole in the wooden gate and the wooden bolts behind it.

Soon the hole expanded to be large enough for a person to walk in upright.

Billy didn't wait for Angela at all and went straight into the town.

Angela kept a certain distance from Billy while reluctantly stepping over the fallen wood.

The instant she stepped through the city gate, Angela suddenly heard the sound of water.

That wasn't the sound of ordinary flowing water.

The sound reminded her of a great flood that had once struck her hometown.

The raging river swept away all the buildings along its course with devastating force.

Wherever the flood passes, no ordinary person can escape, whether they run or not.

In the end, they could only be swept away by the flood, becoming part of the mud, sand, stones, and branches in the water, turning into part of the flood's momentum and helping it cause even greater destruction.

Angela bit her lip, her face pale.

At that moment, her left hand suddenly appeared in front of her.

"What's the point of telling me not to go in now?" Angela said in a low voice. "Why didn't you tell Billy earlier?"

Angela knew, of course, that it was the evil thoughts in her left hand warning her of danger.

She was fully aware of the danger.

Angela followed Billy with heavy steps.

The two walked along the main road for a while.

At an intersection, Billy suddenly seemed to have discovered something and swerved sharply into the alley on the right.

Angela initially distanced herself from Billy, but after seeing him disappear, she rushed over, afraid she would really lose him.

However, Billy didn't go far after entering the alley; he stood at the entrance of a small courtyard.

Angela slammed on the brakes and peered into the small yard in front of Billy.

"Is there anything special about this place?" Angela asked, looking at the damaged gate. "This place looks like it belongs to the poor."

"What's been here?" Billy stared at the yard. "The flies I kept disappeared as soon as they came in."

Billy gestured with his chin toward Angela, "Let your vengeful spirit go in and take a look."

After leaving the Wizard's Tower, Angela performed several rituals involving the dead flower, as Billy had requested.

Because the vengeful spirits Billy provided were of good quality and far more numerous than those in the Wizard's Tower, Angela quickly acquired several vengeful spirit servants.

If there is any danger, you can send vengeful spirits to explore the way.

Angela had genuinely benefited from the situation, which reduced her resentment towards Billy.

Now is the time to use vengeful spirits.

Suddenly, a semi-transparent, ugly, and terrifying human face appeared on her beautiful face.

As soon as the face appeared, it struggled desperately to run away.

However, it seemed as if there was glue between it and Angela's face, and when the face was separated, it made a heart-wrenching "ripping" sound.

Angela's beautiful face was contorted; clearly, this separation was also causing her pain.

In order to end the torment as soon as possible, she gritted her teeth and suddenly tilted her head back.

With a series of cracking sounds, the face was finally freed.

Its first instinct was to run away.

When they broke away from Angela, the vengeful spirit with the human face was facing the courtyard, so it rushed straight into the courtyard.

This saved Angela the trouble of issuing orders.

However, the moment that terrifying face entered and exited the courtyard, Billy and Angela suddenly heard the sound of the tide.

Angela had heard the same sound when he entered the town, but it disappeared shortly afterward. He assumed it was some kind of special witchcraft effect and didn't pay much attention to it.

But the next second, bright red water flowed out from the crack of the window at the back of the courtyard, which was sealed with wooden boards.

The water gathered more and more, and at an incredible speed, it gradually formed a pool of red water.

The sound of the red water lapping against the walls of the houses was like the sound of waves crashing against rocks.

Billy took a step back, his face instantly darkening.

"Go!" he shouted and turned to run.

Before Angela could realize the danger, the back of her collar was yanked violently.

She staggered back a few steps before using her nimble body to turn around and follow Billy.

"My vengeful spirit hasn't been taken back yet."

"It's too late to take it back," Billy said coldly. "We've been tricked! This isn't a curse-generating area at all. It's a fully formed cursed domain."

"You're the only one who got fooled," Angela thought to herself, secretly rolling her eyes at Billy behind his back. "I never wanted to come in in the first place."
