Chapter 23 The Replaced Visualization Diagram
Chapter 23 The Replaced Visualization Diagram
Thor's interest in academic discussion vanished completely. He picked up Claire's meditation book and, despite his dizziness, flipped through it from beginning to end.
The order and content are the same, except that on his seventeenth page, the picture of ten thousand snakes by Ke Li was changed to a picture of a walking human-monster.
Keli also came over to take a look.
"Why is our page different? Ugh..." She only glanced at it before closing her eyes and turning away. "I feel dizzy and nauseous."
It took her a while to open her eyes, which were now bloodshot and seemed ready to burst with tears.
"This image is probably only chosen by someone with your mental fortitude. I can't even stand looking at it."
Thor put away his meditation book and stared straight at the monster on it.
Only those with strong mental power would choose this picture. Conversely, does that mean only this picture can prevent those with strong mental power from feeling dizzy?
Thor glanced again at the image of ten thousand snakes in the book.
If no one criticizes the walking image, he will most likely choose this image as his meditation visualization image.
A whole host of questions immediately popped into Saul's mind.
Did someone deliberately replace the content in their book?
Who could have done it? Could it be that West German again?
Did he know he would choose this picture of a walking monster? Did he tamper with it?
Is it dangerous for me to continue using this picture to observe things?
Thinking of this, Thor glanced at his left shoulder; the hardcover book remained quiet.
Okay, there's no immediate danger to his life.
The meditation book and other teaching materials were delivered to Saul's door by the maid. Could West Germany have made the replacements along the way?
Although the walking diagram of the humanoid monster had saved him twice, Thor still dared not use it to meditate.
"Hey kid, your name is Thor, right?" At that moment, a first-level apprentice sitting on the other side of Thor suddenly came over.
He looked to be about seventeen or eighteen years old, and was a head taller than Thor.
"Where did you get this meditation picture?" He overheard Thor and Claire's conversation.
"Senior, have you met him before?"
"Senior? Hehe, that's a nice title." The other person grinned. "I once read in a book that the meditation books used by first-level apprentices and second-level apprentices are different. If I remember correctly, this visualization diagram of yours should be the one used by second-level apprentices."
He licked his lips, his gaze somewhat fiery.
"I'll give you one credit, and you'll make a copy for me."
This person actually wants a visualization diagram of unknown origin from the book of Saul?
Saul's hand rested on the back of the book.
He thought of the strange figures that had helped him in the lab, and then he thought of the maid who had been lying on the cold conveyor belt yesterday.
"It's possible, but aren't you afraid there might be some danger involved? After all, it's a visualization diagram that only second-level apprentices use."
The senior licked his lips again. "You don't need to worry about that. Are you selling it or not?"
Sell, of course sell.
After class, the three of them went to the library on the ninth floor of the East Tower. There, the senior student offered to have someone make a rubbing of the visualization diagram for them.
Saul then told him to go to the registration office and transfer one credit directly to Clare's name.
The first-level apprentice was unaware of the deal between Thor and Claire, but he glanced at the two of them with an ambiguous look and sighed, "It's good to be young, you can even spend money on women."
Claire was so angry that she wanted to kick the man's balls, but Thor held her back.
"Has he lost his mind? I'm only twelve!"
After the first-level apprentice left with the printed visualization diagram, Claire said angrily to Saul.
"Yes, it must have gotten wet."
After calming the little girl down, Saul left Claire behind and returned to the library next door, extending the lease for the book he had borrowed yesterday, "Grimm's Cognitive Transformation of the Witch Body," by one day.
Because he unexpectedly spent yesterday afternoon in the morgue, he didn't finish copying the book. However, since Saul now had some income, he didn't mind borrowing it for another day.
After borrowing the books, Saul went back to his dormitory for lunch.
The maid who brought him food this time was not the same one as before, since the original one had been thrown into the large box under the control panel by Thor.
The new maid looked older, and her hands trembled as she handed Saul his meal, almost spilling it.
Her face was pale, and she kept bowing and apologizing to Thor, as if Thor would end her life at any moment.
Thor, with a cold expression, waved for the maid to leave.
The maid may have been frightened by her ex's death, or she may know something about it.
Thor decided to take his visualization book to his mentor, Kaz.
Surely Kaz wouldn't want his newly hired handyman to die on duty the very next day?
Thinking this, Thor glanced at the food on the table.
If even one's own books can be tampered with, what about food?
If they wanted to poison someone, they would have done it long ago.
But once suspicion sets in, everything becomes tense.
Thor looked at the food on the table, but couldn't muster any appetite whatsoever.
"I'm still too weak; I must buy myself some time. At the very least, I can't let West Germany act with the same impunity as before!"
Saul arrived at the morgue on the second floor of the East Tower, hungry.
There were no guests in the morgue today, and the candlesticks on the teleportation platform were dim, as if they might go out at any moment.
Thor walked to the vicinity of the conveyor belt and listened carefully for a while. He could hear rustling sounds coming from next door.
He asked in a low voice, "Senior, don't you have work today?"
There was a loud "bang" from the other side, and then a sound came back after a while.
"Is there anyone who can't tell the difference between lights? Don't you know that suddenly speaking in a place like this can be terrifying?"
"Uh, I'm sorry."
Thor thought back to himself and realized that if he were in a place like this and suddenly heard someone talking, he would probably be startled too.
"Senior, if we don't have a job, are we just going to wait here forever?"
"What are you doing if you're not waiting here? If you dare to run away and ruin Instructor Kaz's plans, you'll be the one lying on top of this tomorrow."
Thor glanced at the dark conveyor belt, which was stained with some dirt, and obediently sat back down at the table.
The smell was unpleasant and the atmosphere was terrifying, but at least there were tables, chairs, paper, and pens.
Saul simply continued copying his "Grimm's Cognition of Object Transformation" here.
Time always flies when you're focused and absorbed in something.
Thor looked up and realized it was almost seven o'clock, but Instructor Kaz still hadn't arrived.
"What should we do?"
He rubbed his stomach; a 12-year-old's body could eat from morning till night. Especially after Saul had enjoyed two days of plenty, he was now completely unable to withstand hunger.
I'm so hungry I'm dizzy. If I don't see Kaz today, am I supposed to go hungry for another day?
Should we go find Kongsha?
Thor shook his head again.
He didn't want to be completely controlled by Kongsha. If he couldn't demonstrate his value to Kongsha again, she would definitely make him take that potion that overdraws his potential again.
"No bodies today?" Katz's voice suddenly rang out from the doorway.
Thor turned around in surprise.
Katz remained expressionless, showing no displeasure at the lack of success today.
"Mentor!" Thor quickly grabbed the meditation book that had been on his lap and rushed over.
"Ask me quickly if you have any questions, I'm in a hurry."
"Mentor," Thor turned to the page in his meditation book with the illustrations of human-monster walking, "this is my meditation book."
Kaz saw the visualization diagram and became interested. "An erosion diagram? You, a mere first-level apprentice, dare to use this for meditation?"
