Chapter 189 Chaos

Chapter 189 Chaos

Passing through the front hall and pushing open a slightly shaky door, Thor cautiously followed the old wizard's movements into the next room.

"It's so dark in here, Thor. Can't we turn on a light?" Victor followed him in, looking at the even darker room with a worried expression.

Thor rolled his eyes in the darkness, wishing he could send Victor out into the rain to clear his head.

But just as he took a step forward, the entire room suddenly lit up.

Thor was startled and suddenly turned his head to look.

The curtains in the room were neatly drawn back, revealing the rectangular window behind and the beautiful garden.

The sun is shining brightly outside the window.

Thor frowned deeply. "Is this... a hallucination, or a loss of control?"

He turned around to ask Victor, but was shocked to find that there was no one behind him.

At the same time, the door behind him was tightly closed.

Thor quickly stepped forward and turned the doorknob.

The door opened smoothly, not locked like in a classic horror movie scene.

The door leads directly to the front hall that Saul just walked through.

But the front hall was bright and airy, with sunlight streaming in through the windows on both sides. There were no dark clouds or rainstorms to be seen. You could even see tiny dust particles moving around inside the room.

But the place was deserted; there was no Victor, nor the old man and boy who later entered.

"Victor?" Thor called out his companion's name in a low voice.

No one responded.

His grip on the doorknob tightened, and the metal handrail began to deform after a groan.

"Spatial distortion... temporal distortion... how could such an extraordinary scene occur in a place where only formal wizards once existed?"

"That guy should still be in the same place." Thor wasn't too worried about Victor.

Victor has been a Level Two for many years, so he shouldn't be in any trouble.

"Wandering around blindly might not lead to Victor. Perhaps we should find the treasure first. Maybe that will help us solve this puzzle." Thor rolled his eyes and muttered to himself, "Yes, I must find the treasure first."

"Bang!"

Just as Saul was about to go back, the front door was suddenly pushed open roughly.

A tall warrior clad in armor stormed in with several of his men.

The other party spotted Thor standing at the door immediately.

"Are there still people alive here?" The warrior narrowed his eyes, his longsword already poised to strike.

"Captain, could it be a ghost?" one of the soldiers asked.

"I don't care if they're living or ghosts," the warrior said, walking toward Thor.

Thor didn't dodge; he was also trying to determine if the other person was a ghost.

Who are you?

"Kid, is it your turn to ask questions?" A soldier grinned maliciously, suddenly producing a bottle that he was about to throw at Thor.

However, a large hand suddenly pressed down on the soldier's hand and the bottle—it was the tall warrior in armor.

"My name is Olaf, and I am a knight appointed by Viscount Megoldback. May I ask who you are?"

Thor didn't answer Olaf immediately. He turned his head slightly and looked at the soldier who had almost thrown his bottle.

He had just seen that face.

He had looked at that face up close before. Only then, the face lacked eyes and a nose, though Saul vividly remembered the scar on his lip.

"Damn it, our captain is asking you a question!"

Since Thor did not answer, Olaf's soldiers began to grow dissatisfied.

But Olaf remained standing there, his expression growing increasingly serious.

"What day is it today?" Thor suddenly asked as the soldier was reprimanding him.

The soldiers were taken aback by the abrupt question.

Olaf said in a deep voice, "Today is May 14th."

"It was about two weeks ago."

Thor's words completely baffled the people on the other side.

Some soldiers even muttered, "Have we encountered a madman?"

"Have you just entered Ralph Manor?" Thor asked again.

His strange behavior quieted down the previously agitated soldiers, who all looked at him with surprise.

Olaf slightly lowered his wrist and took two steps forward.

"We were indeed ordered by the Viscount to enter here. And who are you? When did you enter?"

But what answered him was a giant, semi-transparent hand.

Olaf quickly rolled away, but the hand missed him and instead grabbed the soldier who was about to throw a bottle at Thor.

"Witch... Wizard!?" Olaf, who instinctively dodged, was not happy that he had successfully dodged. His gaze toward Thor was filled with fear.

"Witch, Wizard..." The captured soldier didn't dare to struggle at all. His expression instantly changed from arrogant to fearful. He kept begging for mercy, "I... I didn't... Please, please forgive me."

The mage pulled the soldier to Thor before throwing him to the ground.

The soldiers lay trembling on the ground, too afraid to get up.

Thor possessed the soldier and pulled the bottle from his fingertips, the one the soldier had just been about to throw.

The bottle was cold, and the feel of it in my hand was normal; it didn't seem like a hallucination.

Thor flicked his hand again, and an arrow suddenly appeared, piercing the soldier's palm and embedding itself in the stone bricks of the ground.

"Ah!!!" the soldier cried out, his body convulsing in pain.

Fresh blood flowed from the wound and fell to the ground.

"The bloodstains look normal; it doesn't seem like a hallucination."

If it's not a hallucination, then it's even more troublesome.

Thor's move immediately terrified the soldiers on the other side.

This place had been abandoned for two years; the Wizard's Tower hadn't sent anyone to manage it, and wandering wizards rarely ventured to areas so close to the tower. Therefore, they hadn't expected any other wizards to appear here.

Their grips on their swords trembled, yet they lacked even the courage to raise their hands.

In this world, who would dare to be an enemy of a wizard?

Unless our side has a more powerful wizard.

"We were being unreasonable, sir." Knight Olaf lowered his head, put down his sword, and pointed the tip at the ground. "We just didn't expect you to be here. We apologize for our offensive words and ask for your forgiveness this time."

Thor tossed the bottle in his hand and caught it again. "What's this?"

Olaf pursed his lips. "This is holy oil that has been blessed with witchcraft; it can be harmful to spirits."

Upon hearing this, Thor uncorked the bottle, glanced at it, and then put it back in.

These are inferior witchcraft products, not even worthy of being called the lowest-grade witchcraft tools.

There are some light element particles inside, presumably using the natural antagonism between light and dark particles to eliminate weaker spirits.

It's not very effective against vengeful spirits, let alone in this chaotic predicament.

Moreover, if these people really arrived half a month ago, they should all be dead by now unless they brought enough food.

Thinking this, Thor waved his hand, dispelling the magic.

Soldier David trembled, clutching his wound, but dared not get up immediately.

Olaf, come here.

The knight's breath hitched, he swallowed nervously, sheathed his sword to show he had no intention of attacking, and then walked with difficulty to Thor.

"Turn around," Thor commanded again.

Olaf turned around nervously, wondering what Thor was going to do.

Looking at Olaf's back, Thor finally realized that he was the same person he had seen kneeling in the castle's front hall when he first entered.

Is it because they were all dead in the front hall that Saul was able to see their past here?

"Come with me, you come too." He pointed to Olaf and David, who was lying on the ground.

Olaf helped David up, and the two exchanged a bitter look, but dared not delay and quickly followed Thor.

Passing through the inner door, Thor once again entered the brightly lit room next door, this time consciously watching the movements of the two people behind him.

But just as he entered the room and took another step forward, the knight Olaf and the soldier David behind him disappeared again.

Even Thor, who had been observing the two through semi-immersive meditation, found nothing.

His heart tightened, and suddenly his vision went dark.

The torrential rain pounded against the window frame, making a crackling sound.

He actually returned to Ralph Manor, just two weeks later!

Thor closed his eyes, the bottle of holy oil still real and cold in his hand.
