Chapter 164 Soul Drift

Chapter 164 Soul Drift

"Ah—" accompanied this scream.

The cries for help suddenly became shrill, and "Help me" turned into an unconscious scream.

The pain in his eardrums caused Thor to quickly step back.

The sudden shouting abruptly stopped at that moment.

Saul looked up and found that Mrs. Yura's face was gone, but he also discovered something even more speechless.

His body fell to the ground with a "thud" right in front of Thor.

Looking down at his chest, sure enough, the soul-guiding oil lamp lit up again.

His soul was actually blasted out of his body by Lady Yura's roar.

Thor couldn't help but facepalm. "So just how disharmonious are my body and soul right now! I fall off while walking, and I fall off if someone yells at me."

Fortunately, he spends most of his time alone now. If he were to suddenly have an out-of-body experience in front of others and fall to the ground, that would be a real problem.

Thor was still shaken by the disfigured face he had just seen in the mirror.

"This situation has seriously affected my life and must be resolved as soon as possible."

As for how to solve it?

Saul glanced at the diary on his left shoulder. "I'll be troubling you again for the next while."

After his soul left his body last time, Thor didn't find the furthest distance he could travel outside his body, so he returned to his body by walking in a circle.

So this time he simply used the bathroom as the area to plan for an even smaller circle.

As Thor took a step, he immediately felt a pulling force on himself and his body.

As expected, to return to the body, one does not need to find the point furthest from the body; simply completing the actions shown on the erosion map will allow for a smooth return.

But after taking two steps, Thor stopped again, and the gravitational pull immediately disappeared.

"Perhaps I can find a closer distance, the closest distance."

Saul walked very close to his body, almost touching it, then turned to the side, trying to walk back to his body in just two steps.

But this time, the attraction between him and his fingertips did not materialize.

"No, could it be that we're too close?"

Taking advantage of the relatively safe dormitory environment, Thor explored little by little, trying again and again.

Only by understanding your own physical condition can you avoid being caught off guard when real danger strikes.

Thor retreated little by little, turning sideways and walking clockwise with each step. If he sensed something was wrong, he would stop immediately and pull back.

After retreating once more, Thor was less than two meters away from his body.

This time, while walking along the erosion map, I felt the connection between myself and my body once again.

One, two, three, four, five, and it looks like he'll be able to return to his body on the sixth step.

But Thor hesitated to take that first step.

"It's still early, maybe I don't need to rush back," Thor thought. "This is the West Tower, the dormitory area, the danger is relatively low, I can still find the furthest distance I've traveled outside this body."

Starting with his body, Thor explored along the unseen prototype barrier, trying to find the maximum range that could be separated from his body this time.

After taking only a few steps, he was certain that the circle had grown larger again.

"If this continues, one day the circle I'm in might come into contact with some taboos. At that time, even if my soul hasn't gone that far, it might still be harmed by the contamination of the domain."

While pondering, Thor left his dormitory and went to the next room.

No one lives here; only a single candle illuminates the room with a dim, yellowish light.

The table and the floor were empty, devoid of any human presence, like a silent tomb.

Thor continued walking out, and as the circle was about to turn into the corridor, he stepped into the next bedroom.

The candlelight was bright; people lived here.

Thor stood in a corner of the dormitory room and looked up.

The dormitory layout was exactly the same as Thor's; there was hardly any furniture, and even fewer books and experimental supplies. It was as cold and desolate as a prison cell.

Diagonally opposite Saul, there was a large bed, and a girl was curled up on the corner of the bed, pressed against the wall.

The girl's face was streaked with tears, and her body trembled as she sobbed.

It's Angela!

Thor had no idea when she was promoted to level two, nor did he know that she lived right next to his neighbor.

Suddenly, Angela looked up and shouted in a low voice, "Get out!"

Thor was stunned. Could Angela have discovered him?

Before he could even test her, Angela continued to cry out, "Get out of my body, you demon!"

After shouting, she buried her head between her knees and sobbed.

However, Angela raised her left hand and gently touched her hair, as if someone were really standing beside her, comforting her sadness.

"Angela didn't notice me. But is she suffering from a split personality, or is she being possessed by a spirit?"

Thor had no interest in digging into Angela's secrets, nor did he intend to enthusiastically help her solve her problems.

Eyes, arms, soul... Thor still has a ton of troubles to deal with!

He continued walking, leaving the dormitory and entering the corridor.

The corridor was quiet at this moment, and there was not a single person in sight.

Suddenly, a hazy, gray shadow appeared and walked in from the ramp at the end of the corridor.

He was moving very fast, as if he were running. But as the shadow drew closer, Thor realized that it was just a shadow, without a body.

As it passed by Thor, Thor discovered that the shadow was still a two-dimensional plane.

The gray figure ran past Thor and then suddenly stopped, its head swaying from side to side as if searching for something.

Upon seeing this, Thor quickly retreated back into his dormitory.

He silently counted a few numbers in his mind before stepping into the corridor again.

The corridor was now empty, and the gray figure from before was nowhere to be seen.

"As expected, although I am invisible to most people when I am walking in spirit form, some anomalies may still be able to sense my presence. I must be extra careful even when walking in the West Tower."

Although he had only explored a distance of a dozen meters, Thor was able to roughly determine the range of his current activity area by observing the changes in the curvature of the arc.

He walked back to the bathroom, ready to return to his body, but he stopped again at the last moment.

"Strange..." Thor stroked his chin. "I'm in spirit form now, I can walk through walls, so why am I still being supported by the ground?"

Saul stomped his foot and tried to push it down, only to be surprised to find that his foot could actually go into the floor.

"So I'm not standing on the ground, but in the air."

With that thought in mind, Thor lifted one foot, mimicking the motion of climbing a step, and then he stepped up.

"I can fly?" Thor's eyes lit up. "No, I can float!"

He lifted his feet and walked up the unseen steps one by one until his head emerged from the ground of the thirteenth floor.

"This floating motion is a bit awkward; it's probably because I haven't yet grasped the true essence of spirit movement."

Thor turned his head left and right, and his body followed suit as he emerged from the ground.

This bedroom looks familiar.

"Isn't this Kong Sha's room?"

Ever since Thor delivered a few kills to her, Kongsa has started frequently requesting to go on missions.

Thor only saw her a few times a year, so the deal to kill her naturally came to an end.

At that moment, the dormitory lights were on, and the sound of running water could be heard from the washroom.

"Kongsha's back? Taking a shower?"

Kongsa's figure is very alluring.

Thor, a pseudo-teenager, couldn't help but start imagining what was happening in the bathroom when he heard the other person taking a shower.

"That scene must be beautiful... but you can't look up. Kong Sha is ruthless; she just threw away half of her beautiful face like that."

Saul shook his head, trying to shake off the things that were affecting his resolve.

He looked up at the ceiling; the next floor would be the fourteenth.

That was the dormitory area for third-level apprentices.

Saul turned to the diary and said, "Should we go up and take a look?"

Hop on the bus, let's go home! Wishing everyone a Happy New Year in advance!
