Chapter 154 Dead Man's Flower
Chapter 154 Dead Man's Flower
Thor had a dream.
When he opened his eyes, he suddenly rolled over, stuck his head off the bed, and gagged a few times.
Because he hadn't eaten properly for a long time, he only vomited a little bit of acidic fluid.
Instead, my throat started to burn.
He casually wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, forgetting that his hand had turned into bones.
Now my mouth and throat both hurt.
He sat up in bed and was pleasantly surprised to find that all the fatigue and headache from last night had disappeared.
"Is sleeping really that effective? Was I wrong to always use meditation instead of sleeping?"
Thor got up refreshed and tidied himself up.
"Think about what you're going to do today?"
Should we go see Instructor Katz first? Or should we go to the registration office to exchange for the Level 2 Apprentice name tag?
Or you could ask Senior Byron to share the rewards for this mission.
This trip was very fruitful for Saul, but it also raised many more questions.
But things can only be done one step at a time.
Finally, he decided to go see Nick for a medical check-up first.
After all, there might be a spirit attached to him, and this matter needs to be resolved as soon as possible.
Otherwise, he would find it inconvenient to do many things.
However, when Thor went to the twelfth floor of the West Tower to find Nick, he found several second-level apprentices gathered there.
Second-level apprentices aren't as fond of joining in the fun as first-level apprentices, so this is a rather rare sight.
Thor couldn't help but walk over as well.
There weren't many onlookers, and even the short-statured Thor easily found an opening.
When Thor saw the scene inside, he frowned slightly.
Someone died.
He was a servant, and judging by his age, he shouldn't be more than fifteen years old.
One leg, now just a skeleton, stood firmly on the ground, while the other leg was twisted at an upward angle, and both hands were also raised diagonally upward.
A flower bloomed on its head.
Flesh and blood were used for flower petals, and bones were used for flower stamens.
Two arms and one leg serve as leaves, while one limb remains as a flower stem.
Saul pursed his lips tightly.
He felt nauseous.
It wasn't because of the corpse's bizarre appearance—he had seen many more horrific things in the morgue.
It was because he recognized the corpse.
Last night, it was he who painstakingly groomed this young servant into this appearance.
He also remembered how he chewed and swallowed those extra bones and flesh bit by bit.
"Sol." Suddenly someone called his name.
Thor turned around, and there stood Nick, the man he was looking for.
At that moment, Nick also saw the dead in the crowd, and his brow twitched slightly.
"Dead Man's Flower"
"What?"
"Also called Bone Core, it's a ritual used by an extinct species to sacrifice to the dead. I never expected it to reappear in the Wizard's Tower."
At this point, someone nearby chimed in, "This isn't the first one."
The person speaking crossed their arms and looked utterly disgusted.
"Sari? You've recovered?" Nick clearly recognized him.
"Just getting by is enough, why would we die?" Sari said bluntly.
But Nick wasn't angry; instead, he introduced Saul to him.
"Sol, recently promoted to level two."
Sorry temporarily suppressed his disgust and nodded to Sari.
But Sarri merely glanced at Sol, not even bothering to make a gesture.
"You mean something like this has happened before?" Thor didn't care about the other person's attitude; he was more curious about the Dead Man's Flower.
Sari looked over coldly, and was about to say something when Nick interrupted him.
"You'd better be polite to Saul."
Sari looked at Nick with some surprise, and seeing that the other party didn't seem to be joking, he answered Saul somewhat awkwardly.
"This is the fourth incident in the last two weeks." His tone was already unpleasant, but now it became even more stiff. "The steward previously issued a task to the second-level apprentices. Now it seems that resolving this matter will require the intervention of third-level apprentices."
Seemingly feeling a little itchy, Sari raised his hand and scratched his cheek.
He used so much force that his sharp nails pierced his skin, and a few drops of blood seeped from the wound and soaked into his nails.
But both Sarri and Nick seemed completely unfazed.
"Satisfied now?" Sari lowered his hand and looked at Thor, this time with a hint of inquiry in his eyes.
Thor didn't mince words and continued, "Who do you think did it?"
Perhaps it was Saul's casual attitude that made Sari subconsciously reply, "Maybe he's some hopeless level two loser."
After saying that, Sari turned and left, not giving Saul a chance to ask any more questions.
Nick, who had been watching the spectacle with amusement, finally asked Saul, "Are you moving or coming to see me?"
"I'd like you to check me again to see if I'm possessed by any spirits."
Nick readily agreed, "No problem, let's go to the lab then."
Sitting in the inductive chair in the lab again, Thor had very mixed feelings.
"It's just to check for spirits, don't turn the power up that high."
"no problem."
Nick was busy inserting a wire into Saul's body, but he stopped when he reached the arm.
"Your hands are like this now?"
Thor looked at his skeletal hands and realized he had no way to insert the needles.
"Let me take care of my problems first."
Nick tried to insert the needle into the bone crevice, but failed and helplessly threw the wires on the ground.
"Fine, a few more won't make a difference. Shall we begin?"
Perhaps Nick didn't turn the power up that high after being warned, or perhaps Saul is now 14 years old and has a stronger will than before.
In short, this time he didn't feel so good that he lost consciousness, and he even had time to recall his dream from last night.
Last night in my dream, he walked for a very long time in the snow and ice.
We finally found a small house with candlelight shining through the window.
It must be very warm here!
That's what Saul was thinking at the time.
Despite being cold and hungry, he restrained himself and knocked on the door politely.
He was certain there was someone in the room, but he refused to let him in.
Thor got angry.
He felt that even if you weren't willing to share food with him, it would be good to let him go inside to avoid the wind and snow.
How can people be so selfish?
So he knocked on the door harder.
A soft laugh came from inside the room, seemingly mocking him, the poor beggar.
Thor became even angrier.
He slammed his fist on the door, vowing to teach the people inside a lesson.
Finally, after his persistent efforts, the lock loosened, and he kicked the door open, only to find a sumptuous feast laid out before him.
Thor could no longer resist and pounced on him.
He no longer thought about revenge; he just wanted to eat all the delicious food.
But the moment he took a bite, the tough, unpalatable chunk of meat, mixed with a strong smell of blood, instantly brought Thor to his senses.
I finally realized I was dreaming.
But in this dream, he was completely unable to control his actions, and couldn't even move his eyes to observe his surroundings.
His eyes remained fixed on the bloodied boy in front of him.
My stomach was burning with hunger, my tongue was screaming, "Not enough! Not enough!"
Thus, Saul watched himself brutally murder the boy while remaining fully conscious.
After enjoying the feast, he folded a fake flower by hand and left it in the room as a token of appreciation for the host's hospitality.
"Damn it!"
Thor opened his eyes abruptly, the nausea completely overshadowing the pleasure.
Nick, sitting opposite him, put down the control panel in a daze. "Why do you look so pale? Did I mix up the parameters?"
Thor took a deep breath, trying to pull himself out of his memories.
"No," Thor didn't want to answer the question, "Did they detect any spirits on me?"
Nick could sense Thor's agitation, but since the other didn't want to talk about it, he didn't bring it up either.
"No, apart from that little guy on the back of your neck, there are no other emotions. If you feel you're being haunted by a spirit, it's probably just some lingering resentment that will disappear in a couple of days."
Nick came over and helped Thor untie himself.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome." Nick hesitated for a moment before asking the question he'd been holding back all night, "Is the Tower Master really yours...?"
"We can't talk about this."
"I understand." Nick immediately suppressed his curiosity, but he still cautioned Saul, "However, I wasn't the only one on board that day. This matter could very well get out."
Thor swung his wrist; the electric shock had activated the anti-electric field etched into his bones, and now the gaps between his bones were a little sore.
"It's alright," he said.
Since it was the Tower Master who brought this up in public, Thor didn't care whether the secret would be leaked.
Suddenly, a long black tentacle, as thick as an arm, stretched out from behind Thor's neck and drooped to the ground.
The tip of the tentacle split open into a shark's mouth, from which a black tongue emerged and lay sprawled on the ground.
He was still panting heavily.
Nick: "It... has such a long reaction time."
Thor: "..."
Visiting relatives today, maybe... Last night they set off firecrackers, the New Year's atmosphere is getting stronger and stronger!
