Chapter 149 Pursuers

Chapter 149 Pursuers

Since four of the five apprentices on the land-based boat had been tied up by the enraged Wright, making them much easier to guard, Nick also joined the shift.

After Nick replaced Byron, Wright pulled Byron aside halfway through the journey, showed him an IOU, and looked smug.

"Sol has forgiven me."

"Um?"

"One hundred credits, all debts wiped clean." Wright patted his chest. "Now I can finally get a good night's sleep when I get back to the tower. Ever since I found out Thor was the tower master's student, I've been thinking every day about how I'll die when I get back..."

"I made it up."

Wright, puzzled, asked, "Huh?"

"Saying that Thor was the Tower Master's student was just to make his identity sound more important, hoping that the evil spirit would leave Thor's body on its own. Unfortunately, the evil spirit was unwilling to let him go at the time."

"Ah! Ahh!" Wright cried, staring at Byron in disbelief. "You're so cunning!"

He suddenly ripped the IOU in his hand in half, yelling, "Damn it, Thor is trying to extort money from me too! If I had known he wasn't the Tower Master's student, I would have given him twenty credits at most!"

Just as Wright ran onto the deck, wanting to get the IOU back from Saul, an immense mental pressure descended upon him.

As soon as Wright and Byron stepped onto the deck, they felt as if a mountain was pressing down on them.

The two men barely lasted a few breaths before being forced to the ground.

The two level-three apprentices were no match for them, and the others were naturally no better off.

The sailboat, which was traveling at high speed, suddenly wobbled from side to side, then crashed into the woods, sliding a distance on the ground before being stopped by a thick tree.

Only Thor, who was sitting on the deck, was not greatly affected; he was even able to lift his head to see who had launched the attack.

Fortunately, once the ship stopped, the mental pressure also subsided.

Byron and Wright rushed to Thor's side with grim expressions.

"The pressure just now was definitely from a formal wizard!"

"We're getting close to the Wizard's Tower. Could it be that the mentor saw a ship traveling on land and mistook it for an enemy?" Wright said nervously.

Thor shook his head and said, "That mental force came from behind. If it were our mentor, he shouldn't have withdrawn his mental pressure even if the ship stopped, to prevent us from launching an attack."

The two were surprised that Thor could identify the source of the mental attack, but now was not the time to investigate the reason.

Byron said in a deep voice, "Abandon ship and run."

Thor shook his head again. "It's too late."

Sure enough, a rapidly flying figure gradually appeared behind Thor's gaze.

The man was dressed in a long black robe and a purple cloak. As he flew at high speed, the clothes clung to his body, revealing his strong upper body and... seemingly deformed legs.

"A formal wizard capable of traversing land and sea," Wright, with a more knowledgeable expression, said. "He actually dared to venture deep into the wizard's tower's territory?"

It was too late to escape; the enemy's mental energy had already locked onto them.

A true wizard is not someone like Morton, whose consciousness is confused and whose strength is greatly reduced.

Byron immediately produced a signal and launched it into the sky.

But before the black fireworks could even rise into the sky, they were wiped out by an invisible force.

Everyone's faces turned grim.

By this time, the other party had already arrived above the ship.

He looked at the three apprentices on the deck as if they were three dead men.

"The apprentices of the Wizard's Tower..." His voice was weak and breathless, as if there was a hole in his throat, "daring to steal our land-based sailing ships. There are other people on board; bring them all out."

Left with no other choice, Wright went down and called Nick, who was shivering in the cabin, and the prisoner in charge of steering the ship up.

At the same time, he also woke up the four unconscious apprentices on the land-based boat and brought them onto the deck.

"Yesterday they were prisoners, today I'm going to be a prisoner. Alas!" Wright had already begun to mourn for himself.

When Wright returned to the deck with the prisoners, he found that Byron and Nick were already lying on the ground.

Only Thor remained, barely managing to sit in the chair.

The wizard's eyes darted around. "You little rascal, your mental strength is already so powerful."

He looked at Thor, and for some unknown reason, he suddenly released his hold on Nick and Byron.

The two then struggled to their feet.

Wright looked grim at the sight, but he had no choice but to grit his teeth and walk over.

"Sir, these are all the people on board."

But when the formal wizard's eyes swept over the five apprentices on the land-based ships, he frowned. "Where's Herman?"

All five apprentices knelt down with a thud, showing no joy whatsoever at the prospect of slaves becoming masters.

They looked even more terrified than when they were captured.

No one answered the wizard immediately. The wizard narrowed his eyes and stared at the five people.

"Don't you have ears?"

Finally, one of the apprentices couldn't bear the pressure any longer and collapsed to the ground, his voice trembling as he said, "Lord Betty! Herman was killed by the evil spirit in the Valley of Falling Hands."

After the apprentice finished speaking, he secretly glanced at Saul, then lowered his head in fear.

"Droop Valley? How did he end up in Droop Valley?" Betty wasn't really concerned about Herman's itinerary. "What about what he was transporting?"

"No, they're gone. Herman entered the Valley of Fallen Hands precisely to investigate."

"Hmph! Useless!" Betty looked a little angry, but strangely, he wasn't that angry.

In short, his expression was extremely complex.

He flew through the air, seemingly deep in thought.

While he was thinking, no one else dared to move or speak.

Thor looked at Byron and the others and saw that almost every one of them had unease written all over their faces.

But Thor wasn't that nervous.

These were all diaries, and no death warnings were issued.

But Saul began to worry about the others; just because he wouldn't die didn't mean the others wouldn't.

Thor was also worried that he might be taken away by this wizard, Bedy. Whether he was taken back as an experiment or taken prisoner, it was not what Thor wanted.

To everyone's surprise, after some hesitation, the wizard Bedy raised a hand towards the crowd.

"Never mind, I can't let you stay."

A hazy, gray mist gathered in his palm.

"It's a shame about this little guy." Brady glanced at Thor regretfully before preparing to unleash his magic.

Those targeted by Bedi felt a powerful surge of magical energy the instant the gray mist appeared.

Is he even planning to wipe out the apprentices of his own faction?

Almost everyone wore expressions of despair; even the apprentices who could travel by land had closed their eyes, trembling, awaiting death.

"The diary hasn't given any updates yet." Even Thor became nervous. "An attack from a full-fledged wizard is not to be underestimated; there's almost no way for an apprentice to resist."

"Am I the only one who will survive in the end?" Thor's anxious gaze swept over Byron and the others.

Just then, Thor suddenly sensed something and looked up sharply.

The crowd, already shrouded in despair, suddenly heard a gentle voice.

"What are you doing?"

They looked in the direction of the sound.

On the tallest mast of the sailboat stood a person completely wrapped in a brownish-red cloak.

Although strong winds occasionally swept through the high sky, they could not stir the hem of his clothes.

No one could see his face clearly; only a pink chin could be vaguely seen between the hood and collar.

Wizard Betty lowered his hand shakily, his face flushed red as if he had been boiled in hot water.

"Lord Gorsata".
