Chapter 128 Escaping one tiger's mouth only to fall into another dragon's lair

What kind of light could come out from underground?

Thor drew out the scroll of the Spirit Armor spell, and the soul worms on his arm throbbed even more frequently.

Both were traveling at high speed and were about to collide.

The diary has never appeared.

"Could it be someone I know?"

Who is it?

If Byron doesn't know flying magic, then is it Bill or Wright?

This means that the enemies behind Wright forced him to flee separately from the others!

Once he understood all this, Thor no longer hesitated and immediately directed the little algae to climb up with Wright, following his momentum.

But they also had enemies above them. To prevent a sneak attack, Thor quickly explained the situation to Wright in the simplest terms possible.

"An enemy who can easily kill you?" A hint of doubt flashed in Wright's eyes, but his upward escape speed did not decrease.

"I understand. You'll have to stick close to me." Wright made his decision quickly and flew over Thor, clearly intending to shield him from the enemies on his side.

Thor was somewhat surprised by this decisiveness.

Despite Wright's somewhat carefree demeanor, Thor never truly let his guard down around him, even though he had such a background.

But Thor didn't expect that Wright, upon learning of the existence of a powerful enemy, would immediately decide to stand in front of Thor instead of using Thor as a shield.

"Be careful, senior. The enemy up there might be very fast."

Wright did not reply; the pair of wings that had grown on his back were flapping rapidly.

Saul stared at the diary, ready to remind Wright at any moment.

But the diary remained unchanged.

"Senior Wright should be able to defeat this enemy." Thor felt a little relieved and even planned whether he could turn the tables on his opponent later.

In his diary, Thor had already been killed by his opponent several times. Given the chance to fight back, Thor would show no mercy!

This indicates that someone had chased them here before, but retreated for other reasons.

Thor used his glimmer spell to quickly scan the damaged areas on the ground, confirming that the opponent had broken free of the spider web's restraints solely through strength or speed.

Sure enough, the enemies chasing him should have broken through here quickly.

What then caused him to return?

Thor's eyes lit up when he saw Wright stop ahead, and he rushed to Wright's side. He looked ahead and, sure enough, saw several familiar figures.

Byron and Bill were both standing there unharmed, while Nick lay unconscious with his head drooping, being carried on Byron's back.

Was he injured by enemies chasing Thor?

Thor rushed over, his movements startling the two who were already on edge.

After recognizing Thor, Byron, carrying Nick on his back, went to meet him.

"Sol, why did you come down?"

Thor frowned slightly and turned his head to look at Wright, who had just caught up.

"Didn't you receive my signal? A group of enemies has come on land. They're sailing a huge three-masted ship on land; I suspect they're the land-based sailors. I was being chased by one of them and had no choice but to come down."

"What? Those were people who could travel by land?" Byron exclaimed in surprise, and Bill beside him also looked rather grim.

Bill looked at Wright, who shrugged. "The situation was so tense just now, I didn't even notice the signal Thor sent."

Judging from the three men's performance, Thor realized that the enemy they were facing was even more formidable.

"Let's talk as we walk," Byron said in a deep voice, helping Nick up from behind.

They said they were talking while walking, but they were actually talking while running.

Thor could sense their genuine fear. This made him tense up as well; who was chasing them?

Even though they knew there were enemies outside, they still ran to the ground without hesitation, with Bill in the lead and Thor at the back.

They soon came to their first fork in the road.

"Where to go?" Bill asked loudly without stopping.

This path was not one that Byron and his men had explored in the crypts; rather, it was one that Thor stumbled upon by accident.

Only Thor knows where to get out.

Under Thor's command, they gradually approached the ground. Meanwhile, after exchanging information, they learned of the troubles they were facing.

After several days without encountering any evil spirits, Bill suggested going deeper underground again.

Byron, who had been unsuccessful, also began to waver.

When they encountered another downward passage, they chose to enter a deeper underground cave.

But soon after they entered the second level of the underground cave, they encountered a terrifying soul storm.

This kind of soul storm can form when a sufficiently powerful wizard dies, or when a sufficient number of wizards die.

Because they failed to become evil spirits, but were unwilling to simply vanish, their consciousness, in its constant convergence and collapse, formed a tornado of soul fragments.

This kind of soul storm is a terrifying force that can kill even ordinary people or low-level wizard apprentices.

However, some powerful wizard apprentices also have ways to obtain fragments of the soul from them.

Byron, who specializes in dark elements, along with Bill and Wright, who came to make money, naturally wouldn't let this small-scale soul storm pass them by.

In their view, a soul storm of this magnitude shouldn't pose much of a danger. So, they proactively attacked the outer edge of the storm, attempting to dislodge the soul fragments that had been bound by it for many years.
