Chapter 12 The Blue Stone
Chapter 12 The Blue Stone
On stage, Monica didn't care whether her actions frightened the children around her. She stretched out her index finger and easily picked up the crystal ball as if she were picking up candy.
"Meditation. By immersing your mind in the elements, you perceive the elements around you, draw them into your body, and merge them with your own magic. This is the most stable way to increase your magic power."
The crystal ball spun slightly on Monica's fingertips, with bright white arcs of electricity flashing inside from time to time.
"Meditation can also stabilize your mental state. If one day you realize that you are about to lose your mind, you can try to use meditation to maintain a certain level of clarity."
Monica curled her red lips into a slight smile, as if she had thought of something interesting.
"Of course, if the cause of the abnormality cannot be resolved, the person who is destined to go mad will still go mad."
Monica then began instructing the new apprentices on how to enter meditation.
She asked everyone to choose the image that looked most pleasing to the eye or that made them the least dizzy from the meditation book in front of them, and then observe it through the crystal ball in front of them.
Despite his discomfort, Saul quickly flipped through the picture book in his hand.
He felt dizzy looking at every picture, and in the end he could only choose one that didn't make him feel too uncomfortable or nauseous to unfold.
It was a picture of multiple figures walking in a circle.
The highest point in the image is a normal adult male, to his left is a portrait of an almost identical man, but upon closer inspection, the two men's poses are slightly different.
The second person slightly bent his knees and raised his hand.
The third person looked similar, but you could already see that his hands were outstretched to his sides, and his heels were slightly raised as he bent his knees.
In this way, each person's movements are different, just like the original animation, and finally they form a walking movement variation diagram.
This reminded Saul of the principles of animation production.
He looked down at the densely packed figures one by one, but when he saw the upside-down figure at the bottom of the pattern, he suddenly realized that the person's appearance had changed into an octopus monster!
This change did not happen suddenly.
When Thor looked back, he didn't see any difference between each picture and the next, but the bottommost figure was indeed an octopus picture.
A person walked along and gradually transformed into a monster, yet he didn't notice anything amiss along the way.
It's as if humans are originally octopus monsters!
Despite feeling dizzy and lightheaded, Thor continued looking up counter-clockwise. This time, he not only paid attention to the changes in the characters' movements but also noted the differences between each picture.
There seems to be a change, yet there seems to be none.
When he looked back at the top image, the monster had turned into a human again.
Thor finally couldn't hold on any longer, and he covered his eyes with both hands and fell backward.
However, before he fell to the ground, a pair of hands suddenly supported his back and helped him up.
Laughter could be heard all around.
With tears streaming down his face, Thor couldn't see clearly and assumed it was Claire who had supported him. He simply whispered, "Thank you."
"There's nothing funny about that. He collapsed because he looked at the whole picture, unlike you guys who back down at the first sign of dizziness!"
When the sound rang out, Thor realized that it was his mentor, Monica, who had caught him.
At this moment, his eyes were no longer so stinging, and he managed to open them, vaguely seeing the woman beside him.
Monica looked at the teary-eyed little boy and couldn't help but smile. She glanced down at the pattern Thor had chosen, a flicker of surprise crossing her eyes.
But she quickly regained her composure.
"Exploration is courageous, but moderation is key. You have good mental strength; try immersing yourself in it through the crystal ball."
"Thank you, mentor."
It seems that Saul learned quickly, as Monica even used him as an example to guide other newcomers.
This has made many new and old people envious.
Thor lived up to expectations, immersing himself in the game on his very first try.
Once you enter a meditative state and observe through the crystal ball, the image of the walking human-monster will not make you dizzy or disoriented.
Images of characters and monsters floated from the paper and entered Thor's mind.
Soon, everything around became blurry, and the sound seemed to come from the distant horizon.
Everything dimmed, but soon it brightened again.
What rekindled the world of Thor were tiny, colorful orbs of light.
Under Monica's guidance, Thor immediately began to draw the nearest small ball of light into his brow.
Very smoothly, the first elemental particle obediently followed Thor into his body and merged into a bubble-like entity in his mind.
Thor was extremely excited and immediately began the next traction.
He didn't notice that his mentor, Monica, suddenly frowned.
She left Thor's side, walked around the classroom, and encouraged the other new apprentices to try meditation like Thor.
Not all new apprentices can immerse themselves as quickly as Thor; many haven't even found a suitable meditation chart yet.
"Take your crystal balls with you; they can help isolate you from dangerous things and maintain the stability of your meditation. I don't recommend that you meditate without your crystal balls before you reach level two."
Monica returned to the front and patiently explained the key points of meditation, but she no longer personally instructed the others as she had instructed Saul.
This made some people resentful. How could a wizard apprentice who had successfully cheated deserve the most attention from his mentor?
But no one dared to voice their dissatisfaction.
The first meditation class passed quickly, and Saul remained lost in thought until everyone had left.
Claire wanted to wake Thor up, but Monica interrupted her.
Claire looked at Monica in confusion, only to see the latter give a strange smile.
"You can leave now. I need to talk to him alone."
Klee immediately gave Monica a suspicious look.
When Monica was stared at like that by a little red-haired girl, her face immediately darkened, but before she could get angry, Claire had already run away.
And they didn't forget to close the door.
Monica then walked back to Thor's side and snapped her fingers.
A burst of electric sparks immediately struck Thor's forehead.
Startled by the sudden stimulation, Thor opened his eyes to see Monica's long legs standing in front of him.
"Professor Monica!" He looked up and around, only to find that no one was around.
"I'm sorry, Professor Monica, I'll leave immediately."
Saul apologized repeatedly and began packing his things.
"Elemental perception—that's something I was going to cover in the next lesson." Monica's red lips parted slightly, but her voice was cool. "Elemental perception is actually a characteristic of mental power. Just like everyone has a different appearance, everyone's elemental perception isn't exactly the same."
"It represents your sensitivity to ions of specific elemental properties. For example, imagine a piece of paper with red, yellow, and green colors, and then you throw stones of red, yellow, green, and blue onto it. What colors do you think you'll see?"
Saul didn't quite understand. "You mean, a piece of paper with red, yellow, and green colors?"
"Can you understand? It means having three attributes simultaneously, not just being painted with three colors."
Saul seemed to understand Monica's meaning.
"If a piece of paper is red, yellow, and green all at once... then the first thing I see is the blue stone."
Monica nodded. "Good that you understand. The body is like a piece of paper. Color attributes make us less sensitive to other elements. The color you see the most is the element you perceive most strongly. The strength of your mental power also affects the number of elements we perceive."
After saying that, she picked up the little monster that was eating human skin from the ground, swayed her hips, and left the classroom.
Thor was left completely bewildered.
"Ms. Monica, why are you suddenly telling me this?"
Thor picked up the book and the crystal ball, still puzzled.
He walked for a long time in the small classroom, moving slowly step by step, just like his stagnant thoughts at that moment.
"I can only see blue... I can only see blue..."
When Saul's hand touched the classroom doorknob, he jerked his head up.
"I... I didn't seem to see many dark element particles when I was meditating just now!"
The muscles in his face twitched incessantly, and the boy's face gradually contorted.
"I...I...the element I sense most strongly...is not the dark element!"
Thank you so much stellr for the generous donation! This is the first donation to this book, and it gives me a lot of motivation!
