Chapter 1015 The Heart of Killing

Chapter 1015 The Heart of Killing

A smile flickered in Douglas's eyes upon receiving Saul's promise.

It was a sense of self-satisfaction stemming from being in control of everything.

He looked north, and the presence of the Eye of the Abyss was as conspicuous to Douglas as the sun in the sky.

However, this conspicuous entity was shrouded in an aura of death.

Observing it as if it were a thread woven from death, the abyss is simply a ball of yarn made of death.

The tangled threads stretched out from the deepest part of the sea, like a drowning traveler struggling to grasp at any floating debris it could see.

Douglas withdrew his gaze. Since the wizards here wanted to pour another bottle of poison down Abyss's throat to hasten his death, he could cooperate.

Anyway, things have already started moving from the Abyss, and death is dancing at the crossroads of the world.

Douglas was already able to vaguely see the direction the world was heading.

Although he was more inclined to observe the destruction of the Eye of the Abyss, in the end, it would be beneficial to Douglas regardless of who survived or who ultimately met their demise.

But secretly, he was hoping for a third outcome, which is why he had been so careful to hide his identity and balance the strength and trump cards of both sides.

Oh, right, there's one more crucial prop.

Douglas looked at Thor, who returned the look with equal wariness.

He suddenly spoke, breaking the silence, "I discovered an interesting structure beneath the island."

"That's the mechanical heart, the power source that allows this sky city to float high in the sky," Thor shared the information he knew. "However, its energy source is rather special; all low-level wizards who die become its nourishment."

After Thor finished speaking, the three people opposite him showed no surprise whatsoever.

Gorsa and Frim clearly already knew this.

For Douglas, sacrificing low-level wizards was an inefficient method that he looked down upon.

"I can see that, but it's no use," Douglas said bluntly.

Of course, it's useless.

Perhaps Ophelia originally intended to use the Mechanical Heart to complete the ritual for advancing to the fifth rank, but later she changed her approach and chose to transform herself into a water sprite to advance to the fifth rank.

Unfortunately, a fourth-tier wizard is not yet capable of completely altering a living being, so she had to give up again.

After that, Ophelia disappeared somewhere.

He doesn't go into seclusion in Sky City, nor can he be found anywhere else in the world.

It's as if they deliberately hid away.

Douglas didn't care about the original owner of Sky City. "I'm not entirely confident I can mislead the Eye of the Abyss. However, I have some insights into death, which might allow me to make some modifications to this place."

Flim frowned slightly, remaining noncommittal about Douglas's choice. However, he was there to help, and couldn't say anything here.

But Gorsa wouldn't be as polite as Frim. "I don't know much about the power of death, so if you're going to design it like this, I probably can't be of much help."

Douglas said nonchalantly, "You can follow my instructions, or you can do something yourself. This place is so big anyway."

He clearly doesn't care whether Gorza joins or not.

Gorsa chuckled and turned to Thor, asking, "I'm planning to try it myself. What about you?"

To everyone's surprise, Thor said, "I also know a little about the Thread of Death, so I'll study it with Wizard Douglas."

Gorza raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised that Thor had chosen to cooperate with Douglas.

However, even though his youngest apprentice wasn't on his side, it didn't affect Gorsa's decision. "Then you all keep busy. I'm going to take a look at White Glass Castle."

After saying that, Gorsa ignored the others and disappeared in a flash.

Thor didn't even glance at Gorza as he left, and went straight to Douglas, saying, "Shall we begin now?"

Douglas looked at Thor meaningfully. "Don't try anything funny with me."

Thor shrugged. "What are you afraid of? Afraid that we'll overdo it and end up killing the Eye of the Abyss?"

Douglas then looked away. "Let's go downstairs."

As soon as he finished speaking, Thor felt as if he were being stretched out, becoming a thin thread, spinning in the air before suddenly plunging downwards and into the soil.

The same goes for Frim next to him.

They were directly and partially escorted by Douglas into the mechanical heart.

They encountered layers of magical formations and restrictions along the way, but these had almost no effect on Douglas.

Douglas broke through the entire Sky City's defenses as easily as tearing through several layers of gauze.

Only at this moment did Thor truly understand the spatial advantage of a fifth-tier wizard.

The opponent did not actually break through the defensive magic array, but bypassed the defense directly on another level.

After arriving in the wizarding world, the other party seemed finally willing to show a little bit of the power of a fifth-tier wizard.

Thor felt as if the three-dimensional world had suddenly become a two-dimensional plane, and he had become a point that jumped out of the plane.

This point jumps rapidly in space outside the plane, so much so that the phantom becomes a line.

This gave Saul the illusion that he had been stretched.

But actually, he was compressed.

In the blink of an eye, Thor was standing inside the Mechanical Heart again.

This experience is quite different from entering the world of illusion. But the underlying principles seem to be similar. Both involve stepping out of the original level.

Like Thor's Fate Line. It clearly looms over Sky City and continues to grow. But when Thor doesn't want to show himself, even Douglas can't see the Fate Line.

"Break free from your original level, world, and perception?"

Thor stood motionless in the room of the Mechanical Heart for a long time until Douglas ripped the core of the Mechanical Heart off the roof and threw it in front of them, at which point he snapped out of his daze.

"I want to transform this into a heart of slaughter."

Frim raised his hand and sent a ball of light into the mechanical heart. The ball of light quickly returned to his palm and went inside.

"I sensed a very regular life force. But this regularity was too simple and brutal, causing its life to be as rigid as a machine."

Douglas said, "So it's a useless thing. It can only be used for recycling."

As he spoke, some black shadows appeared on his body, and the shadows lunged at the mechanical heart with bared teeth and claws.

Immediately, flesh-colored, foamy paste-like substance emerged from the iron-gray mechanical heart through its various orifices and channels.

These disgusting substances flowed onto the ground, emitting a pleasant fragrance, like freshly baked white bread.

"There's quite a bit of death energy here." Thor raised his hand and waved it in front of his nose, clearly disliking the smell.

"That's why it's suitable to be transformed into a heart of slaughter," Douglas said. "Let's begin now. You two..."

Douglas began to direct the two men without any hesitation.

While strolling through the White Glass Castle, Gorsa, with his hands behind his back, came to the throne where Ophelia had sat.

A few days ago, Thor was also here waiting for Ophelia's response.

Gorsa patted the hard stone seat and shook his head, clearly disliking the hard chair.

But he still turned around and sat down.

As soon as he sat down, Gorsa noticed a tiny fragment of his soul squeeze out from the back of the chair. Then, as if sensing the familiar Gorsa, it disappeared into the back of his head.
