In the Apocalypse, I Can Enter Hogwarts

Chapter 82 Encounter at the Library

Chapter 82 Encounter at the Library

As Ian walked out of the Potions classroom, the scene from earlier was still lingering in his mind.

The most important thing is that he has never forgotten the incomplete bloodline potion formula, and the primary issue in completing the formula is to fully preserve the activity in the blood of magical animals.

If this hurdle cannot be overcome, any subsequent research and development will be in vain. Once the bloodline potion formula can be completed, his path ahead will be very smooth. While he may not be able to rival Merlin, he can at least surpass Voldemort and rival Dumbledore, which is something to look forward to.

……

For the next week, Ian was completely captivated by the Hogwarts Library.

After making progress in resolving the blood activity issue, he devoted himself entirely to the subsequent research on the formula. He firmly believed in one thing: all fear stems from insufficient firepower.

With a focused mind, I wandered alone through the library corridors time and time again, searching, browsing, reflecting, and summarizing.

Even though it was already evening, and even though he was hungry, he still immersed himself in this temple of knowledge by the bright candlelight on the ceiling.

The long table was piled high with parchment covered in hastily written notes. As time went on and Ian studied more deeply, he felt increasingly insignificant.

Just like looking up at the starry sky in the silent night, separated by countless light-years, the stars always seem tiny. But when you get closer, you'll find that many stars are actually much larger than this world.

"You've been acting strange lately." Just as he was lamenting his shortcomings, a clear voice rang out beside him.

"Hmm... Hermione?" Ian's mind was a little slowed down from focusing on reading for so long.

Hermione looked at the figure before her. Hermione's once deep eyes were now filled with weariness from years of reading.

A sudden pang of heartache welled up inside her. She wanted to scold him, but the words wouldn't come out. She could only say softly, "You look really unwell. Shall we go for a walk together to relax?"

"Okay... wait a minute, let me tidy up here first." He still found it hard to refuse Hermione's request, but before that, he at least had to clean up the messy library communal table.

"I'll help you pack..." Hermione said happily.

……

"So, you've been doing this for a week now? What are you thinking?" Hermione asked Ian with a reproachful tone.

As if remembering something, she changed the subject, offering a somewhat helpless piece of advice: "You're the one who told me life isn't just magic, and it hasn't been that long? And you're doing this again."

Seeing Hermione's lecturing, old-fashioned appearance, his adorable demeanor suddenly made him laugh, and he couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Don't laugh, I'm talking to you!" Hermione said fiercely to Ian, her little face puffed up with anger.

"I wasn't laughing at you... really."

"Then what are you laughing at?"

"Something funny just came to mind..."

"What's so funny?"

"I'm getting old..." Luckily, Ian didn't finish the sentence about "wife giving birth," abruptly changing the subject: "I'm thinking that curfew is in a little over an hour. Is it really okay for us to keep walking around like this?"

They chatted as they walked, and before they knew it, they had almost reached the edge of the forbidden forest.

A long, low fence separated the lawn and the Forbidden Forest outside the castle. Looking at its rugged style and skillful craftsmanship, it was easy to guess that no one but Hagrid, the gamekeeper, could have made it.

"Curfew is fine. If I get caught, I'll just lose points, but I can make up for it. It's you, on the other hand. You're not allowed to change the subject, and you're not allowed to laugh. I told you at the beginning of the semester that if we have difficult problems, we can discuss them together instead of getting stuck on them alone..."

Hermione's tone suddenly turned somber: "Do you also find me annoying? Do you think I talk too much and like to meddle in other people's business..."

"No! Not at all..." Seeing that Hermione seemed a little off, he quickly made his stance clear.

"Then why haven't you contacted me for a week? They've all been secretly laughing at me, but you know I don't care about that. What I care about is our promise to solve problems together..."

After saying this, Hermione suddenly raised her head and stared at Ian silently.

Seeing Hermione's slightly red and moist eyes, Ian realized the seriousness of the problem. It seemed that the girl had always regarded him as her best friend, but he had subconsciously ignored Hermione's feelings.

"This won't happen again, believe me, this is the last time." Ian stared into the girl's eyes and said earnestly, word by word.

"Well, now it's time to talk about your problem." Hermione's expression changed quickly, her pitiful look vanishing, and she suddenly became somewhat serious.

"Uh..." Ian wasn't sure if he was seeing things, but he felt that Hermione had the air of a little fox who had just succeeded in her scheme.

Anyway, it wasn't a big deal, so Ian decided to tell the other party. After all, the original books recording the potion formulas were still in the library. It wasn't some earth-shattering secret, otherwise it wouldn't have been left there unnoticed for hundreds of years.

"Well, you remember when I spent some time researching books about the origins and bloodlines of wizards... and that's when I found that tattered potion recipe, and now I'm trying to figure out how to fix it."

After recounting for nearly five minutes, Ian told her everything about how it all started, what happened, and the difficulties they were currently facing in their research.

Hermione remained silent throughout, listening attentively to Ian's entire explanation. After a long while, she said, somewhat disappointed, "..."

"I could understand it at first, but then I really didn't understand it at all, even though they said we'd solve it together... Am I really useless?"

"Don't overthink it. The main thing is that a lot of the content isn't covered in first-year Potions class, and you've only been learning magic for a short time, less than a year..." Ian said, trying to comfort Hermione, who looked defeated.
