In the Apocalypse, I Can Enter Hogwarts
Chapter 81 Seeking Advice from Snape
Chapter 81 Seeking Advice from Snape
……
An hour and a half later, in the Potions classroom.
Snape was always the last one to enter the classroom, his steady steps exuding his unique aura, making all the young wizards sit up straight.
Compared to the cautiousness of others, Ian felt at home during Potions class, relaxed and free.
He only needed to glance at the blackboard occasionally to understand the day's lesson, and then he would sit quietly in the corner reading, waiting for Snape to finish the theoretical part before starting to put it into practice.
Dried nettles, black reed petals, dried leeches, bat fangs...
Ian categorized all the materials needed for today's lesson before processing them one by one. He ground what needed to be ground and sifted what needed to be sifted. In short, he prepared them all according to the required steps before putting them into the crucible.
Mixing... Stirring...
Unlike beginners, Ian's mind is frozen during the potion-making process. He chooses to abandon thinking and instead focus on sensing the changes and needs of the potion in the cauldron.
To give a simple example, just like caring for a crying baby, if the caregiver doesn't understand the baby's needs, they will always be flustered. Conversely, if they can clearly understand the meaning behind the cries, they can care for the baby with unparalleled precision and efficiency.
Ian belongs to the latter category, but those who truly achieve something in potions also belong to the latter category.
Time flew by as he focused on the lesson, which quickly came to an end. Snape didn't even glance at him during the class, leaving him completely unattended.
Instead, the Hufflepuff badgers were the main focus. As time went on, the difficulty of Potions class increased day by day. Unlike when school first started, when everyone was basically at a similar level as long as they had hands and could listen attentively and take notes.
Now, the gap has already begun to appear. The most obvious example is those tables with tan stripes, which are practically disaster areas... And this is only the first year, and the first year is barely halfway over.
"Perhaps potion-making requires more talent than divination..." Ian finished preparing the potion, ended his focused state, and only then did he have time to look around. Looking at the chaotic scene, he couldn't help but mutter to himself.
Fortunately, nothing too serious happened. After Snape finished assigning the homework, the class ended. While the others rushed out of the classroom as if their lives depended on it, Ian sat calmly and didn't move.
Seeing that only he and Snape remained in the classroom, he walked over.
"Excuse me for bothering you, Professor Snape, but I have a question that has been bothering me for a long time, and I hope to get your answer." He spoke to Snape in a calm tone.
The other person didn't respond, only nodding. Ian didn't think much of it; after spending so much time together, he knew Snape too well. The fact that he was standing there quietly listening to his question was already a very friendly gesture.
Only after receiving Snape's permission did he speak slowly and deliberately:
"If the blood of an unknown organism possesses extremely high activity and vitality, but also exhibits strong exclusivity and corrosiveness, is there a way to neutralize this blood? Or how can the active components be extracted directly?"
Upon hearing this, Snape immediately flashed his signature smile, and Ian instantly knew that he was about to unleash another powerful move.
Sure enough, Snape said with a hint of sarcasm, "Unknown blood? Vitality? Life force? It seems you have quite the imagination. What do you think we've been doing for thousands of years? Potions masters gathering together to play wizard chess?"
At this point, Snape turned and picked up a book, slamming it down in front of Ian. The title, clearly visible from the top, was "A Thousand Wonderful Herbs and Mushrooms." He then added in an even more sarcastic tone:
"They tried adding everything they could see into potions, then compared and analyzed them. Otherwise, do you think just anything can be used as an ingredient to make potions?"
Then, changing the subject to an even more sarcastic tone, she said, "I heard you went to the Gryffindor common room last weekend? What? Did you get tainted by that aura of stupidity that you haven't shaken off for a whole week?"
Good heavens, now it's Ian's turn to be dumbfounded. So Snape was secretly listening to gossip too? Is Hogwarts some kind of backstage information department for a famous entertainment weekly?
Are they training wizards instead of giving them gold-medal journalist passes after graduation? I only took a short trip to the Gryffindor common room, and it all got to Snape's ears?
However, Ian had his strategy for dealing with Snape. This stubborn Snape was like a mule that could be stroked; don't confront him directly, just go along with him, and it's easy to settle things peacefully. This method always works when dealing with someone who's all bark and no bite.
At this point, he couldn't refute her; instead, he had to go along with her and say, "I was just visiting a friend, Miss Hermione Granger, whom I've known since before we enrolled."
He wasn't lying, just a bit opportunistic. He and Hermione had already met at Madam Malkin's Robes Shop and on the train; in short, without wearing the Sorting Hat, one wasn't officially enrolled.
Sure enough, a quiet statement was better than a direct confrontation, and friendships across houses always resonated with Snape.
Snape's mocking smile visibly vanished, replaced by his usual rigid expression. This, however, relieved Ian; Snape was at his most friendly now.
"Use Sunflower Orchid and Water of Life and Death, mix them thoroughly, and you can retain only the active ingredients in the blood while removing all unstable components," Snape said in a startling statement.
Ian was deeply moved after hearing this, praising the other person's knowledge and selflessness, because he had almost worn out all the potions books in the Hogwarts library, but had not found any record of this topic.
This was clearly Snape's own research finding, and it belonged to the kind of knowledge that was not made public.
"Thank you, Professor. Although it may sound inadequate to say these words now, I still want to say that I will remember your kindness." Ian was not an ungrateful person; what goes around comes around, and this principle remains unchanged throughout history.
Perhaps the sharp tongue was ingrained in Snape's very being; whenever he had the chance, he would occasionally unleash it.
"Ha! A favor from a future Potions Master? That's quite a lot," Snape said sarcastically as usual.
But after saying that, his expression suddenly changed. He looked at Ian with a serious and earnest expression, leaned forward slightly, and said in a somewhat solemn tone:
"Potions aren't a game. You can heal magical injuries with potions, but what about damage caused by potions? Especially damage from unknown potions—that's irreversible. Toads are a good thing; if you're too poor to buy them, I have plenty here..."
After Snape finished speaking, he left the Potions classroom without looking back. Watching his departing figure, Ian thought to himself with a touch of helplessness, "That damn tsundere trait... Anyway, thank you."
Having gained valuable knowledge, Ian turned and left the classroom, his light steps clearly indicating that he was in a very good mood.
It's no wonder he was so happy, because after several days of testing, the special parasitic blood medicine he had collected separately showed that the blood still retained its vitality. That's why he planned to try adding it to magic potions and try to brew and develop some new potions.
