Chapter 25 Exploration

Because Toruvel helped them solve their problems with weapons and blacksmiths.

After discussing the exploration of the ruins, Wayne and Geralt went into the forest to collect the materials needed for the potion.

He's still a novice in this area, and so far he's mostly dealt with herbs and monsters around Kaer Morhen. As for the others, he'll need Geralt, the experienced Witcher, to teach him by example.

Although he had learned a lot about monsters and herbs from books during his two years in Kaer Morhen, putting them into practice was not so simple.

The two gathered herbs while searching for traces of the monsters in various terrains.

With nothing else to do, Toluviel volunteered to be their guide, showing them the way through the forest.

It must be said that the Elf race is very well-suited for fighting in the forest. They are naturally agile and have keen senses. With proper training, they can become qualified archers.

Toluviel was able to become the leader of this non-human race, and she was also the strongest among them. This female elf was not only an excellent swordswoman, but also a sharpshooter with perfect aim.

The three of them made their way through the forest and quickly completed their planned collection task.

Toruvel's outstanding performance also made Wayne see the combat potential of non-human races.

He was confident he could take on a dozen armed bandits at once, but he wasn't sure he could face the same number of elves in the forest.

Arrows hidden in the shadows are far more threatening than swords and spears that are clearly visible.

Back at camp, Wayne was in high spirits, so he personally cooked a large pot of vegetable stew and various hearty dishes, using the game they had hunted during their mission. He then invited everyone in the camp to taste it.

Without a doubt, they possess LV6 culinary skills, coupled with the culinary philosophy of the Great Food Empire that far surpasses the Middle Ages.

His culinary skills successfully won over everyone's appetites, and even the female elf leader, who usually didn't care much about the taste of food, ate an extra bowl than usual.

Taking advantage of the pleasant atmosphere, Toruville decided to have everyone hold a small bonfire dinner.

Men, women, young and old, and people of all kinds of non-human races gathered together, laughing and chatting, eating delicious food, drinking fine wine, and talking about their hopes for the future, which greatly boosted the morale and cohesion of the entire camp.

After a brief period of joy, the next day arrived quickly, and the task of cleaning up the ruins officially began.

The team exploring the ruins consisted of five people. In addition to Wayne and Geralt, the two witchers, Toruviel also brought a male elven archer and a dwarf warrior wearing heavy armor.

Of course, according to the agreement between the two parties, dealing with monsters is not suitable for ordinary people, and Toruville and her two best warriors do not need to participate in the battle directly.

They were only responsible for following behind Wayne and Geralt, dealing with the monster corpses, and preventing uncontrollable accidents. Geralt and Wayne were the main force in cleaning up the ruins.

Before officially entering the ruins, they must undergo a necessary preparatory procedure unique to witchers.

Geralt and Wayne sat cross-legged at the entrance to the ruins, with five different types of glass bottles, totaling more than a dozen, in front of them, each containing a different color and shape of Witcher potions.

"Cat Potion, Thunder Potion, Swallow Potion, Tawny Owl, and Maripo Forest."

As the white wolf named the potions and pointed to them, he said to Wayne:

"With the materials we have, we can only produce these five types of potions. In the battle to come, we must rely on these potions to strengthen ourselves."

"You should remember their effects very well. As for which ones to drink, Wayne, you can choose for yourself."

"However, be mindful of your limits. I don't want to have to bury your body, poisoned by a magic potion, before the battle even begins."

After saying that, Geralt took one of each of the five potions and, as if drinking alcohol, poured one into his mouth every half minute. Then he closed his eyes and entered a meditative state.

He has been a Witcher for over seventy years, and among all the Wolf School Witchers, he has undergone the deepest mutation, possesses the best physical gifts, and can withstand the strongest toxicity.

Drinking five bottles of potions at the same time wasn't even his limit.

However, Wayne, who was sitting opposite him, was different. He knew very well that without the system's support, his mutation level was likely the most superficial among the existing Wolfblood Witchers. The original owner even died during the mutation process.

In the past two years, he has only drunk one potion at most at a time. He is well aware of his poison resistance limit. Three potions is his limit, and even those cannot be the most toxic ones.

After thinking for a moment, Wayne reached out and took the Cat Potion, the Swallow Potion, and the Tawny Owl.

These three potions can respectively enhance his dark vision, regenerative abilities, and the speed at which his chaotic magic regenerates.

In the dim environment of the underground ruins, the Cat Potion is essential, while the other two can enhance his sign power.

Considering his own situation, Wayne no longer hesitated, picked up the three bottles of potions, and drank them down while meditating.

The potions tasted terrible, most of them containing monster tissue, and the texture was indescribable.

However, dealing with monsters is far too dangerous, and the slightest mistake could lead to death. In order to increase their survival rate, the demon hunters have no choice but to drink these terrible things.

A dozen minutes later, Geralt and Wayne finished their meditation. The Witcher potion had been fully digested by their bodies and began to strengthen their physical functions.

This enhancement turned both of their faces deathly pale, with black veins bulging on their faces. Even their originally amber pupils turned completely black, filling their entire eyeballs, making them look quite eerie and terrifying.

This terrifying change startled Toluviel and her two subordinates who had been waiting nearby.

However, all three were of a long-lived race and had heard of the Witcher's deeds, so their surprise quickly subsided, unlike many unruly humans who were making a big fuss.

With everything prepared, without further communication, Wayne and Geralt, each holding a silver sword and casting a Quen shield around themselves, cautiously walked side by side into the gate guarded by warriors.

Behind the main gate is a corridor, also in an elven style, with exquisite patterns carved on the walls and ceiling. However, due to its age, many sculptures show obvious signs of weathering, giving them a sense of historical vicissitude.

However, Wayne and Geralt's attention was not on the sculptures. After walking forty or fifty meters down the corridor, some relatively new footprints appeared in their dark vision.

Upon seeing the footprints, Geralt first cautiously looked at the ceiling and his surroundings to make sure there was no danger before crouching down to examine them closely.

This elven ruin must have been unvisited for a long time, as a thick layer of dust had accumulated in the corridors. It was precisely because of this that the somewhat messy footprints were clearly imprinted on the ground.

Geralt observed for about a minute, then stood up and said to Wayne:

"They are the footprints of a water ghost, and a little mist fairy."

"Be prepared, there are quite a few of them, and we might encounter them at the end of this corridor."
