When Lei Ming was caught in the crossfire between the two demon clans and faced a life-or-death situation, he suddenly became clear-headed and less nervous.

Lei Ming made up his mind that even if he died, he would do it in a spectacular way, risking his life to kill one or two demonic beasts.

Those few breaths felt incredibly long to Lei Ming. As he waited for the giant python and the blood-fanged porcupine, an ancient mirror suddenly appeared in his mind. The mirror shimmered, and Lei Ming seemed to see ripples appearing in the space in front of him.

A black hole appeared out of nowhere, and Lei Ming stepped into it without realizing it. After he was swallowed by the black hole, it vanished in an instant, as if it had never existed.

The next moment, the Bloodfanged Porcupine and the giant python collided, and the two demons engaged in a fierce battle.

After a moment of dizziness, Lei Ming regained consciousness. He opened his eyes and found himself in the middle of a green mountain. Everything around him was peaceful, and there were no Bloodfang Boars or giant pythons at all.

"What happened?" Lei Ming racked his brains and finally remembered the ancient mirror in his mind.

A message appeared in his mind, and Lei Ming was both surprised and delighted.

"I actually obtained the Kunlun Mirror!" Lei Ming exclaimed involuntarily, unable to believe it himself. When he tried to communicate with the Kunlun Mirror again, it did not respond at all.

Lei Ming eventually gave up.

"The Kunlun Mirror is a legendary innate spiritual treasure with immense power. I've only just begun refining my Qi, so I can't control it at all." Lei Ming quickly realized this. "However, the Kunlun Mirror did save my life by taking me through time and space this time. I just don't know where I am now."

Lei Ming was also disoriented at this point, so he randomly chose a path. The area was extremely desolate, with weeds growing everywhere on the mountainside, and not a trace of human presence could be seen.

After walking for half a day, Lei Ming sensed movement ahead. Sure enough, not long after, five people emerged from behind the woods. The leader was a one-eyed man with a rugged appearance. He carried a large knife and looked extremely fierce.

"I never expected to run into such a fat sheep here. It's like God has blessed us with a life of ease." One-Eyed Dragon looked at Lei Ming as if he were food. The other four then surrounded Lei Ming from both sides, encircling him in the middle.

"Who are you? Where is this place?" Lei Ming asked.

One-Eyed Dragon couldn't understand Lei Ming's words. He grinned maliciously and said, "You're unlucky to have run into us, the Five Rats of Jia Yuan. In your next life, remember to keep your eyes open."

The Five Rats of Jiayuan were five petty thugs in Jiayuan City. Although they weren't particularly strong, they were exceptionally ruthless. Having offended the Siping Gang, a small gang in Jiayuan City, the Five Rats were forced to flee. They dared not take the main roads and could only traverse the desolate mountains. For several days, they had found no food and were starving.

One-Eyed Dragon led the charge, his broadsword slashing down with a powerful, swift motion.

"Die!" The one-eyed man licked his lips. He saw his greatsword already at Lei Ming's feet, then suddenly, his expression froze...

In the blink of an eye, Lei Ming reached out and grabbed the back of the blade. No matter how hard the one-eyed dragon tried, the broadsword remained unmoved.

"Is this all the strength you have?" Lei Ming gently snapped the broadsword in two. Using the broken blade as a weapon, he instantly slit the throats of the other four rats.

In the blink of an eye, only One-Eyed Dragon remained of the Five Rats of Jiayuan.

"Spare me!" The one-eyed man knelt down directly in front of Lei Ming without hesitation. Lei Ming frowned; he had no respect for such a person.

"When did our human race produce such scum as you?" Lei Ming said, and the broken sword in his hand pierced through the one-eyed dragon's body and disappeared into the stone.

After killing the five rats, Lei Ming searched their corpses and found several silver ingots, a book, and a few bottles and jars. Lei Ming threw away the bottles and jars and put the book and silver in his pocket.

A day later, Lei Ming arrived at a large city, which was the Jia Yuan City that the Five Rats had mentioned. As soon as Lei Ming entered the city, a servant-like man came to greet him.

"Sir, is this your first time in Jiayuan City? I can be your guide; I'm very familiar with Jiayuan City," the twelve or thirteen-year-old servant said enthusiastically.

Lei Ming looked completely bewildered; he couldn't understand what the other person was saying at all.

Waving the servant away, Lei Ming wandered around the city alone. He was now certain that this couldn't be the prehistoric world; the civilization of the prehistoric human race certainly hadn't developed to this level.

"It's good to have left the Primordial World; this world doesn't seem as dangerous as it was. The most urgent thing is to learn the language and writing here as soon as possible."

Lei Ming thought of the silver he had obtained from the Five Rats. He went into an inn, took out a silver ingot, and the innkeeper was overjoyed when he saw it.

"Are you here for a meal or to stay the night, sir?" the innkeeper asked.

Lei Ming pointed to the dining table, then to the upstairs, and the innkeeper immediately understood.

"Alright, Fuquan, please go to room 2 on the second floor, Jiazi room. Sir, I'll have your food delivered to you right away," the innkeeper said.

Lei Ming couldn't understand what the other person was saying, but he nodded slightly. He saw a waiter come over, and the waiter gestured for him to go upstairs, so Lei Ming went up. Soon they arrived at a room, and the waiter cleaned it up for Lei Ming and then left.

"I never expected that such a clever-looking young man would be mute," the waiter said to the shopkeeper as he came down from the shop.

The shopkeeper tapped him on the head: "Whether he's mute or not, just take good care of him."

Lei Ming stayed at the inn for more than half a month. Every day, he went downstairs to drink tea and listen to other people's conversations. After more than half a month, he was able to roughly understand what others were saying.

Afterwards, Lei Ming asked the waiter to hire a tutor. The tutor was a down-on-his-luck scholar who, although not very old, looked much older than his age. He was initially reluctant to teach Lei Ming, but agreed for the sake of the money.

"I never imagined that I, a dignified scholar, would have to make a living by teaching a fool who can't even speak properly." The scholar looked at Lei Ming, who was speaking haltingly, with tears welling up in his eyes, clearly lamenting his misfortune.

Ignoring the scholar's emotions, Lei Ming devoted himself entirely to his studies. In less than half a month, Lei Ming could speak fluently and had also learned to recognize all the characters in this world.

The scholar couldn't believe it when he saw it.

"How can there be such a genius in this world?" the scholar muttered to himself, his eyes reddening again. "No wonder I've failed the exams time and time again; it turns out I'm not talented enough. I'm not even as good as a fool, what's the point of taking the imperial examinations?"

Seeing the weeping scholar, Lei Ming frowned. He disdainfully tossed the scholar a silver ingot and then chased him away. The scholar took the silver and left happily, never mentioning Lei Ming's foolishness again before bowing to him repeatedly.

"After more than a month, I've finally gained a basic understanding of this world." Lei Ming took out the book he had taken from the one-eyed man and began to read it. To his surprise, it turned out to be a martial arts manual.

"The Calming Blade!"

Lei Ming carefully read through the book. It contained a sword technique, the very first move of which the One-Eyed Dragon had used. This sword technique was not simple; the One-Eyed Dragon must have just acquired it and was a beginner.

"If even people like the Five Rats can possess martial arts manuals in this world, then there must be even more powerful cultivation methods. This is wonderful!" Lei Ming said happily.

Lei Ming went downstairs and called over the waiter.

"Waiter, are there any blacksmith shops in town?" Lei Ming asked.

The waiter smiled and said, "Of course, I know at least three places. Sir, would you like to have a weapon or a tool crafted?"

"I want to forge a knife, the heavier the better," Lei Ming said.

The waiter said, "That's quite a coincidence. A blacksmith shop just received a batch of black iron. Black iron is the heaviest; a square piece of black iron weighs several thousand kilograms."

"Take me to see it quickly." Lei Ming also became interested.

The scholar, beaming with pride after receiving the silver from Lei Ming, entered Deyilou, a brothel in Jiayuan City. The pimp there recognized him and immediately stopped him upon his arrival.

"You poor scholar, you're causing trouble here again. Miss Cui Liu has already said she doesn't want to see you again. You'd better leave now, or I'll break your legs," the pimp threatened.

The scholar glanced sideways at the pimp: "You lackey, you really have a peculiar eye for people." He tossed the silver in his hand and looked up.
