Bring a fairy tale to Hogwarts!
Chapter 52 The Gryffindors' Study Habits
When the class ended, half the students collapsed to the ground, half huddled in a corner trembling, and a couple of students almost clung to Victor's legs, begging him not to let them try, because they didn't want to become bald or get poked in the butt.
In this tense atmosphere, the class that felt like an eternity finally came to an end.
When the bell rang to signal the end of get out of class, the students almost burst into tears...
"Don't rush."
Victor smiled and gestured to the flying monkeys to stop chasing, while calling out to the students who were about to escape—they were running too slowly, because some of the students were already trembling and unable to stand up after being poked and made to run twenty laps.
They looked up at Victor timidly.
"I've noticed that a large portion of you don't want to participate in this training model," Victor said. "And some of you, for various reasons, find it difficult to achieve a perfect score. So I'm willing to offer you a second option..."
Some students' eyes lit up immediately.
"...If you can hand in a three-foot-long divination paper before the next class."
"This requires you to review all the knowledge you've learned before. Since you can't cheat, you can only compete unfairly by memorizing all the knowledge. However, students who use this method need to get an E or higher on the next exam."
The students' eyes were lifeless again.
Three feet?
What does that mean? One meter!
They have to submit a one-meter-long paper and get an E on the exam in order to avoid this incredibly difficult and dreadful course!
Several Gryffindors let out a wail and instantly stood on the same side as the sullen Slytherins.
Only those students who already had good grades grasped at this lifeline and hurriedly carried their friends who couldn't get up out of the classroom.
Goodbye, Professor!
"goodbye!"
……
As evening fell, a large group of people poured into the Gryffindor common room. Some collapsed onto the sofas as soon as they entered, some even lay down on the floor, and others, wearing hoods, walked in mysteriously.
This greatly surprised Fred and his two companions, who were playing Wizard's Chess in the lounge.
"What's wrong with you all?"
Lee Jordan looked up from the pile of homework he was doing and asked his familiar fifth grader—as well as Wood, who was lying on the floor and didn't want to move.
"Don't... even mention it," a fifth-grader sprawled on the sofa replied listlessly. "I ran... twenty laps!...and listened to that damn music that almost shook my brain out!"
His words were immediately met with a similarly weak and listless response.
Wood lay down on the ground, his eyes glazed over.
"You're lucky..." His eyes were lifeless. "You didn't notice, but those monkeys also cast a shrinking spell on me. Those twenty circles after I shrunk were longer than my life..."
Wood was barely breathing, looking like he might faint at any moment. But in reality, even if he did faint, all he would have to do was ask Madam Pomfrey for a bottle of energy potion.
Because of the safety net of potions, wizards' experiences are always much more hardcore than those of Muggles.
"What class did you guys go to? Defense Against the Dark Arts?" George asked curiously. "How come your classes are so interesting, while we can only listen to Quirrell's vague African travelogue over and over again... It's absolutely awful."
Lee Jordan held up the parchment in his hand—he had just been writing that long, tedious paper for Defense Against the Dark Arts class.
"Quirk gave us a 15-inch book report this week, so annoying. Fortune telling is much better; not only did it teach us fire divination, but it didn't even assign homework..."
"A fortune telling?!"
As soon as Lee Jordan finished speaking, he suddenly noticed that all the fifth-graders in the lounge were staring up at him.
One of them even cried out in indignation: "We're taking a divination class, okay! You have no idea what it feels like to have a sword hanging over your head, ready to fall and stab you right in the heart every now and then! And while you're being cursed, made bald, and poked in the butt, you also have to chant spells—"
"Professor Victor is even more vicious than Snape!!"
After shouting, the Gryffindor seemed to choke accidentally, and immediately let out a series of earth-shattering coughs before finally collapsing completely onto the sofa and remaining motionless.
The students from other grades were left looking at each other, their expressions revealing a hint of fear.
Only Harry and Ron, who had just returned to the common room after Charms class, looked puzzled—the joys and sorrows of different years were not shared.
……
Because of the big Halloween party, the students finally got up and came to the auditorium after catching their breath for about an hour.
Inside the auditorium, a thousand bats fluttered across the walls and ceiling, while another thousand, like low-lying dark clouds, hovered and danced above the dining tables, causing the candle flames inside the pumpkins to flicker. Delicious food suddenly appeared on golden plates, just like at the opening banquet that year.
However, on the Gryffindor and Slytherin tables, there were occasional shallow gasps that disrupted the atmosphere—mainly from the unfortunate Wood and Flint.
As a result, the relationship between the two colleges inexplicably eased, and even the annual snake-lion conflict project, which was a fixed event during holidays, was completely canceled for the first time.
But for Harry, this wasn't the most surprising thing.
What's most surprising is that Malfoy hasn't bothered him for a long time.
As Harry devoured the mashed potatoes before his noodles, he couldn't help but glance up in the direction of Slytherin and see the face that everyone had hated just a few weeks ago—Malfoy's face.
But now, when Harry looked over, Malfoy just glared at him, then his face inexplicably paled, and he turned away.
"What exactly did Malfoy go through recently?"
Harry couldn't help but ask Ron, who was eating a chicken leg next to him.
"Mmmmmmmm?"
"...I don't understand, Ron."
"I said—uh—I don't know either," Ron forced down a large piece of chicken in his mouth, "but hey, whatever they do, at least Malfoy hasn't bothered us for a week or two."
"Perhaps Professor Snape thought he was too embarrassing, so he ordered him to stop disgracing Slytherin."
"That would be best."
Harry agreed.
“I think so,” Ron continued, “He didn’t bother us in Charms class today… but have you noticed? Miss Know-It-All has been really annoyed with us lately.”
"You mean Hermione? Why?" Harry asked, somewhat surprised.
"I guess she thinks we keep breaking school rules and affecting the security of our house points? I don't understand, anyway, she's been snorting at us whenever she sees us lately, as if she's the one who earned all the Gryffindor points, even though you've gotten extra points in Defense Against the Dark Arts class several times."
"Did you notice? She tried to correct your pronunciation during Charms class this afternoon, but you could cast the Levitation Charm normally without any correction."
