Chapter 8 Enrollment (Part 2)

The dock is shaped like the Chinese character "凸".

The long, narrow pergola serves as a dividing line, narrower in the front and wider in the back.

As soon as Link walked behind the pergola, he was slightly shocked by what he saw.

Dozens of large aircraft, resembling the Y-20 chubby girl, were parked in a row on the open ground, their rear ends facing the sunshade, with their tail hatches open and landed.

This formation, this posture, this momentum...

One word: stunning!

Above the aircraft, the names and emblems of various wizarding organizations floated in the air, making them easy to distinguish and eliminating any worry about getting lost.

"Link, over here."

Jasmine stood by the tail hatch of the large aircraft at the Rivosos Biological and Medical Academy, waving to Link from afar.

She stood tall and graceful, with a warm smile. When she waved, she tilted her head slightly, making her appear even more charming and adorable.

"Tsk..."

Link smacked his lips, feeling that ever since Jasmine decided to enter the Rivosos Biological and Medical Academy, she had been intentionally or unintentionally using her charm on him.

If he is truly the naive son of a blacksmith, he will eventually fall for Jasmine.

At that time, they might be exploited like韭菜 (a metaphor for being exploited), not only being driven to work hard without complaint, but also handing over their own resources.

Well……

Link admitted that thinking this way made him seem a bit dark-minded.

But while one should not harbor malicious intent, one must be wary of others. Link does not hesitate to speculate on human nature with the worst possible malice.

"Coming right away."

Putting aside what he was thinking, Link waved back to Jasmine, quickened his pace, and came to her side.

"They've all gone up. I'll wait here for you. I'm a little scared to go alone."

As Link approached, Jasmine gave him a bright smile and said sweetly, "I'm not afraid anymore now that you're here."

"what……"

Link opened his mouth, momentarily at a loss for how to respond to this sudden straight shot.

This approach is a bit crude; it's launched without any emotional foundation, just a direct and blunt attack.

Link didn't quite understand what this was all about, so he simply didn't respond.

"Let's go up too."

This time, Link avoided physical contact with Jasmine and went straight to the cabin.

Jasmine blinked, somewhat surprised.

Did she do something wrong? Why does it feel like Link is deliberately distancing himself from her?

After thinking about it without finding a solution, Jasmine put it out of her mind and followed Link closely as they boarded the aircraft.

At the entrance to the aircraft cabin sat a staff member dressed in the same uniform as the recruiters.

To his left was a device resembling a tablet computer, to his right was a square black box, and above his head floated a white machine with a glass lens.

"Name?"

The staff member's voice was indifferent and devoid of any emotion.

"Link Grande."

"Hmm... a fourth-class aptitude, not bad."

The staff member tapped a few times on the tablet, muttered a few words to himself, and then pointed to a spot about two meters in front of him where a short white line had been drawn. "Stand straight there, look straight ahead, don't blink, and don't move around."

Link obediently followed the instructions.

A snap.

The glass lenses of the white machine hovering above the staff's heads flashed.

"Want to take a picture?"

Link increasingly felt how profound the wisdom contained in the eight characters "The Great Way has the same origin, and different paths lead to the same destination" was.

To date, Link has witnessed driverless vehicles, all-metal ocean-going vessels, handheld terminals, artificial intelligence, sophisticated lighting systems, aviation, and the Internet.

As it turns out, the advanced wizarding civilization was by no means backward or ignorant.

The methods of implementation may differ, but the results are not much different from the technological civilization of Link's previous life, and may even be far ahead in many fields.

So Link isn't surprised at all to see drones with photo and video recording capabilities.

"Come here, put your hands on it."

The staff member pointed to the palm print and fingerprint scanner on the table.

Link then did as instructed.

The scanning screen emitted a blue light and scanned back and forth several times, recording Link's palm print and fingerprints into the database.

The square black box then started up, making a few creaking sounds, and an opening appeared at the bottom, from which a document about half the size of a palm was ejected.

The badge at the top center of the badge is the emblem of the Rivosos Institute of Biology and Medicine, with the full name of the institute located below the emblem.

The middle position features a half-body photo of Link.

Below is the name "Link Grand" and the apprentice number "201140048".

"Alright, go inside and find a seat."

The staff member picked up the ID and handed it to Link, giving him a casual instruction.

"thank you."

Link bowed respectfully to the staff.

It's never wrong to be polite, especially in the wizarding world where power belongs to oneself. After reflecting on himself a few days ago, Link has always maintained a humble attitude.

It may not bring any benefit, but it can at least reduce some unnecessary malice or even hostility.

Link entered the cabin and waited in the aisle for a while until Jasmine registered her information and received her documents before they went to find seats together.

After all, we come from the same place, so there's no need to distance ourselves from others based on our own speculations, whether true or false.

Just get along normally.

The aisle is lined with private rooms, available for two or four people.

Link and Jasmine discussed it and chose an empty double room.

Sitting in the soft, comfortable chair, where she could recline or sit, Jasmine was silent for a moment before suddenly exclaiming, "I feel like I'm dreaming."

"Even if you don't say it, I know I've been spoiled since I was a child and my living conditions are much better than yours. But, compared to the wizards of the main continent, those conditions are like the difference between a savage slave and a noble."

As she spoke, Jasmine's expression became complicated.

"I feel like a savage slave who has stumbled into a wizarding world, ignorant and terrified!"

At this point, Jasmine turned to the side, staring intently into Link's eyes, and asked seriously, "Link, why do you seem completely unsurprised by so many things that Jimny and I couldn't accept at first? This doesn't seem like the behavior of a blacksmith's son who lacks experience. Can you tell me why?"

Link couldn't help but feel puzzled.

Sister, what's wrong?

First came a straight shot, and now they're asking probing questions?

To be honest, we weren't that close. We were just fellow townsmen who met by chance.

Is this the kind of question you should be asking?

Link remained calm, activating his "Brain Lock" technique and perfectly simulating his emotions, replying smoothly, "Isn't everything a wizard does just as logical as it should be? What's so surprising about that?"

After a pause, Link continued, "My family can only forge one decent iron sword a month, but Viscount Holloway's soldiers are never short of weapons. I've known since I was a child that there's no need to question what great people can do with your own limited perspective."

Let me explain it this way, whether you believe it or not.
