97. Induction
"Go and give this to Professor Fox."
Lynn slipped the letter he had written into the owl's claws.
Lynn's owl stood there dumbfounded, as if it hadn't heard him.
"I know you're having a tough time. Professor Fox is far away right now, and I understand how you feel," Lynn said with a sigh.
No, you don't understand!
The owl rolled its eyes, looking very reluctant.
Lynn suddenly became righteous and awe-inspiring again.
"Don't worry, I definitely won't treat you badly if you work for me. Last time I made you run so far in such a mess because I was inexperienced. This time I've prepared everything."
As he spoke, he took out a small hanging bag filled with dry food such as rice and wheat kernels, and then hung it around the owl's neck.
"Anything else?"
He then took out a small postman's hat and put it on the owl's head; it was the perfect size.
After fully arming his owl, Lynn pushed it outside.
"Go, go, go quickly, I'll prepare some delicious food and wait for you to come back."
The owl turned back and gave him a resentful look, then spread its wings, flew out of the auditorium, and went to work for the evil capitalists.
Cedric watched with glee as he finally saw his owl off, laughing so hard he almost fell over. Finally, he suppressed a laugh and asked...
"Where are you planning to send it? Why is it so unwilling?"
"Send it to Professor Fox; he's probably already in Asia by now."
"No wonder."
Lynn looked up and counted the days.
"It seems like it's a full moon again today, right? It's that time of year again when Ian transforms."
Ian, who was slowly and methodically cutting a piece of steak, nodded slightly.
Lynn suddenly became happy.
"We'll meet at the Willow Tree that night. I might be a little late, around nine o'clock."
"Where are you going?"
"It's a secret," he said mysteriously.
Cedric shrugged. "Alright, I'll ask again when it's no longer a secret."
That afternoon, in the Hogwarts library.
Lynn was diligently copying notes into a notebook. It was a book from the restricted section about the formation of ghosts. Snape had given him a note that allowed him to borrow it but not take it out of the library.
Therefore, Lynn could only record the key information in the library and organize it with other materials when she got back.
However, he was not alone in the library today; a chattering little girl was sitting next to him.
"Seriously, I really can't understand why their sense of collective honor is so poor. If they're provoked by someone like that, why don't they just go to the teacher and complain? Why do they have to fight on the spot? That will only cause Gryffindor to lose points, and all the points I worked so hard to get from Professor McGonagall using the Conversion Charm will be gone. Harry might even be expelled!"
Lynn noticed Mrs. Pince's sharp gaze and quickly patted Hermione on the shoulder to calm her down and lower her voice.
"I understand your thinking. You want them to follow the rules and do everything according to the rules, right?"
Hermione nodded, looking dejected.
"Everyone following the rules is just your ideal world. Not everyone thinks like you. Like what you just said, wasn't it my fellow student Malfoy who broke the rules and caused trouble in flight class? He broke the rules first, so why are you demanding that Harry follow them?"
"Was I wrong?" Hermione asked somewhat timidly.
Lynn, who had been multitasking with Hermione, put down his quill and spoke seriously.
"You didn't do anything wrong, Hermione. It was right to fight for the collective honor, and it was also right for Harry to stand up for his friend. The only one who was wrong in this matter was Malfoy. However, your approach was flawed."
Hermione blinked at Lynn.
"Back then, you were taking flying lessons together as Gryffindor and Slytherin. After Harry and Malfoy got into a fight, your first priority wasn't to stop Harry, but to stand with him. Then, prepare for the professors' arrival by presenting evidence that would be in your favor and minimizing the damage to your house. Finally, in private, when you criticize Harry for his reckless and thoughtless actions, explain to them what you should have done to maximize Malfoy's chances of survival without being punished. This way, they won't blame you or be angry with you. In the future, no matter what happens, they'll still think of you first and consult you, always following your lead."
Hermione stared at Lynn with her mouth agape and her eyes wide open, unable to utter a word for a long time.
"Did you use this trick on me before?"
Lynn looked at her innocently.
"How could that be? When have you ever seen me say that about you?"
There's no need for that trick on you. Just put a pine cone in the middle of the rope, and you silly squirrel will fall into the trap yourself.
"Well... Malfoy is from Slytherin. You're teaching me like this, and as a result, Slytherin got points deducted because of him. You don't mind?"
Lynn sighed and rubbed Hermione's head.
"Isn't this all because of you? If you feel bullied, just come to me, and I'll teach him a lesson for you."
The little girl's head struggled slightly under Lynn's hand, the tips of her ears turned a little red, and she clutched the hem of her robe with both hands.
"You're so kind, Lynn."
"Of course."
Even setting aside the question of how many points Malfoy could possibly deduct from Slytherin with Snape's protection, he could easily earn those points back many times over in Potions class by working together with Snape.
Of course, what I just said wasn't all just to coax the little girl.
If one day he discovers that Malfoy is bullying Hermione, he wouldn't mind teaching him a lesson.
After cheering up the sad girl, Lynn finished her studies at the library for the day.
He returned to his single dormitory room with a thick stack of parchment filled with notes.
He specifically cleared out a cabinet from his desk to store his materials, which was already piled high with thick parchment and black notebooks.
Those were all materials about souls, ghosts, and spirits.
After putting everything inside, Lynn didn't pay any more attention to them; he had something more important to do today.
He took out a small glass bottle that he had prepared beforehand from his locker, then unfolded the parchment that Kira had written down the steps of the Animagus transformation, and checked the contents of the bottle again.
Today is another full moon, and he's lucky; the weather outside is clear and there isn't a single cloud in sight.
Animagus can proceed to the next step.
