90. Hermione's Wizarding World
"Is this the shabby little bar?"
Across the street from the Leaky Cauldron, a boy and a girl stood on the roadside, pointing at a bar that most people couldn't see.
Lynn, with his hands in his hoodie pockets, said with a smile.
"Don't underestimate this little shabby pub; it may have hosted every wizard in England."
"That's because there aren't many wizards in Britain, right? Just like Hogwarts is the only wizarding school in all of Britain, and it claims to be the best one."
Hermione wrinkled her nose; she wasn't the kind of silly girl who didn't use her brain... except when she was tricked by Lynn.
"Don't say that outside. All the wizards in Britain are graduates of Hogwarts. If they hear that, it could cause trouble," Lynn warned Hermione.
As he spoke, he grabbed Hermione's sleeve.
"Let's go, be careful when crossing the street."
"Okay, I'm not a child anymore."
Half a month has passed since Lynn returned home, and Hermione's family returned from their trip to Paris two days ago.
After returning home, she pleaded and begged for two days before Mr. Granger finally agreed to let the brat next door take her to Diagon Alley in the wizarding world.
This is what Hermione said to Mr. Granger.
"Just the visit of a professor from the magic academy was enough to scare you. It took you two whole weeks to recover in Paris. If you get scared again in Diagon Alley, you and your mother will have to live on the moon for two years. Let me go and scout ahead first. After I learn magic, I'll show you every day. Once you're used to it, you can come with me."
Mr. Granger couldn't do anything about his daughter, so he could only glare at her the whole time Lynn picked her up in the morning, never giving her a kind look.
This puzzled Lynn, who secretly asked Hermione if her father hadn't washed his face properly that morning and if his eyes were bothering him.
Hermione just rolled her eyes at him and didn't say anything.
There weren't many wizards in the Leaky Cauldron, but there were always some at any time. After Lynn led Hermione inside, they first greeted Tom, the old bartender.
A year has passed, and he clearly no longer recognizes Lynn. After all, a year ago Lynn was just a Hogwarts freshman who came here with Professor Fawkes, and there was nothing particularly memorable about him.
Lynn glanced casually at the customers in the bar and even spotted a familiar face.
Professor Quirrell, Hogwarts' former Muggle Studies professor, current Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, and the first professor to kick the bucket in the future.
He was sitting alone in the far corner of the bar, with a glass of butterbeer in front of him, and a thick scarf wrapped around his head, dressed strangely like an Indian.
Clearly, by this time he had become Voldemort's henchman, sharing a body with him.
Seeing his appearance, Lynn couldn't help but think maliciously, "If I used a Whirlwind Charm to blow the big scarf off his head right now, would Voldemort be startled?"
Unfortunately, he doesn't have the guts now.
He knew Professor Quirrell, but Professor Quirrell did not know him.
Lynn had no intention of lingering in the bar. He led Hermione directly to the brick wall in the backyard and then, keeping her in suspense, said...
"Guess how we're going to get into Diagon Alley?"
Hermione crossed her arms in front of her and looked up as she spoke.
"It's not that obvious; we need to get through this wall first."
"Correct answer! Unfortunately, there's no reward. To get through this wall, we need something every wizard has—a wand."
Lynn took out his wand, twirled it on his fingertip, and finally held it in his hand.
"Look carefully, we need to tap this brick with our wand."
Lynn hadn't knocked yet; he was pointing out the right spot to Hermione.
"Why can't we use that trash can as a reference point? Wouldn't that make it easier to remember?"
"Because there are always bad guys trying to move the trash can, you'd better just memorize the location of this brick."
"That's really bad."
After confirming that Hermione had memorized it, Lynn tapped the brick with the tip of his wand.
The brick wall split open, and the gates to Diagon Alley were revealed right in front of them.
Hermione acted just like Lynn when she first arrived, her eyes shining with wonder as she looked at everything in Diagon Alley.
This time of year is the busiest time of year for this magical alley, with little wizards adding a unique vibrancy as they prepare school supplies for the new school year.
"What do we need to buy first?" Hermione asked, clutching the small purse her father had stuffed full for her before she left home.
Lynn pondered for a moment: "According to the normal procedure, we need to go to Gringotts to exchange money first. Gringotts is the bank of the wizarding world, and it is managed by the goblins."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!"
Hermione walked briskly along the cobblestone path in the middle of Diagon Alley, while Lynn followed slowly behind her.
Actually, if Lynn wanted to, Hermione wouldn't have needed to go to Gringotts to exchange money. Besides the initial funding Professor Fox gave him, he had also inherited the Fox family's treasury.
According to Kira, he has a family fortune waiting for him to inherit in Gringotts, Germany.
So Lynn is now so overwhelmed with gold that it's becoming a problem.
Paying for all the things Hermione needs for the start of school is barely a small gesture; well, it's more like an atomic one.
But putting aside his reasons for paying for Hermione's expenses, even if he were willing, the girl certainly wouldn't.
They have their own money, why should you pay for it?
Miss Granger has always been a strong-willed girl.
"20 Galleons!"
Hermione proudly showed off a cloth bag in front of Lynn.
Lynn nodded, pretending to be envious.
"This is much better than last year. Last year, Gringotts could only exchange a maximum of ten."
"So what else do you want to buy this year? I can save some money and help you, no, lend it to you to buy it."
"No need for that. Last year I met a very good professor who recognized my talent and sponsored me with 525 Galleons."
"oh."
Lynn took the little girl to Ollivander's wand shop first, intending to buy a wand.
As soon as they arrived at the wand shop, before they could even go inside, someone pushed the door open and came out.
The narrow doorway was extremely unfriendly to that person; he had to bend over halfway to "squeeze" his way out from inside.
"Hagrid?"
Lynn was taken aback when he saw the mixed-race giant in front of him.
Hagrid and Lynn weren't very close; they were just acquaintances.
"Oh, it's Belloc." He waved and greeted him.
"What are you doing here?" Lynn asked, peering behind him.
Sure enough, behind him was a boy wearing glasses, with messy hair, a lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead, and looking somewhat nervous.
