Chapter 452, Page 449: The Flying Sword

The road ahead was blocked, and the wizards that Lynn had left behind gradually surrounded them.

Lynn is now completely blocked in all four directions, and it seems like he has no chance of escaping.

The wizards surrounded him, all their wands pointed at him, and the leading wizard said with a grim face.

"You're very good, Lynn Bellock. When I was your age, I was still playing in the mud at school, and you've already managed to fool so many of us."

Lynn had no intention of talking to him. He seemed to be sensing something, looking up at the sky and thinking quietly.

Beneath them, a black raven was gliding silently, its body undergoing a strange transformation.

Its feathers melted away, turning into a smooth surface. Its body continued to elongate and become flat and slender. The original sharp beak became even sharper. Almost in the blink of an eye, it completed the transformation from a living creature to a dead one.

Lynn looked calmly at the leading wizard, speaking as if it were a trivial matter like not wanting to eat broccoli for lunch.

"I don't actually want to kill anyone, but in this situation, you are forcing me to go on a killing spree."

Upon hearing Lynn's words, the wizard was first taken aback, then a very bad premonition suddenly arose in his heart. He stopped delaying and ordered his men to shout.

"Put a spell!"

At his command, all the wizards present aimed at Lynn, but before they could utter the incantation they were supposed to, the splashed blood, like ink spilled onto a painting, drenched the night sky.

"puff!"

A series of sharp sounds rang out as a dozen weapons pierced flesh, and a bloody hole appeared in the chest of each of the row of wizards blocking Lynn's path!

Blood gushed from the wound, dripping from the sky to the ground like a sudden downpour of large raindrops in the height of summer, except that the raindrops were the color of blood.

The wizards, their chests pierced by unknown sharp weapons, all had lifeless eyes. Their bodies could no longer hold on to their flying brooms, and they fell helplessly from the sky to the ground.

The other wizards who were about to cast spells were stunned by what they saw. The spells they had planned to use changed simultaneously, from offensive spells to defensive armor spells.

After the attack hit its mark, Lynn flapped his wings without hesitation and continued flying forward. The wizards who had just cast the Ironclad Curse on themselves, who remained in place, finally saw the real culprit who had taken more than a dozen lives in an instant.

It was a longsword, very different in style from Western knight's swords and rapiers, and none of the wizards recognized where the sword's design came from.

The sword was entirely black, and if it weren't for the scarlet blood dripping from it, the wizards wouldn't have easily spotted it in the darkness.

Now the sword was blocking their way, constantly waving its tip, looking like a dog left behind to cover their retreat!

A wizard cast a spell on the sword, but it nimbly dodged it all. Then it disappeared from the spot, transforming into a streak of dark light in the night, attempting to stab the wizard standing at the front.

The longsword was so fast that no one present could react to its movement.

Only when one of the wizards suddenly lit up with a ghostly blue light, triggered by the Ironclad Charm defense, did they realize that the longsword had already launched an attack!

However, the armor spell on the wizard who was stabbed was not broken. The black longsword was bounced back by the huge recoil force. He seemed dizzy and swayed in mid-air for a while before finally turning into a streak of light and fleeing in the direction Lynn had left.

The surviving wizards looked at the direction Lynn had fled with extremely grim expressions, then looked down at the mangled corpses of their companions on the ground.

Someone whispered to the leading wizard.

"Should we continue pursuing this, supervisor?"

The wizard's face was also extremely pale. He wanted to abandon the mission and take his men back to leave.

But with Dementors, Groundbats, and so many people who had just died, he knew very well what fate awaited him if he returned empty-handed.

He clenched his teeth and forced the word out.

"Chase!"

The longsword flew very fast, and soon caught up with Lynn. Then it transformed back into a black bird and landed on his shoulder, silently communicating with Lynn.

Lynn nodded gently, as if having a conversation with it in her mind.

"It's okay, even if we can't break through their defenses, it's fine. They can't always be equipped with their Ironclad Spells, so there will be other opportunities."

Hermione turned her head curiously and met the raven's blood-red eyes.

"Is this your pet?"

"It was created by transformation, but its true form is actually just an iron rod."

"Why did it just turn into a flying sword?"

Hermione didn't see the sword kill anyone; Lynn deliberately blocked the angle so she wouldn't see it.

"The transformation of a shapeshifter is based on the caster's perception. For example, if you believe that monkeys are born to like bananas, then the monkey you create will like bananas. But if you believe that monkeys are born to like steak, then the monkey you create will like steak. Similarly, if I believe that a sword can fly and has its own consciousness, then the longsword I create can fly."

Hermione was dumbfounded when she heard Lynn's calm and collected explanation.

"Is that really true?"

"That's really true, but people's perceptions aren't so easy to change. You have to deceive yourself and make yourself believe from the bottom of your heart that this is in accordance with common sense, then the result of the transformation will meet the requirements. But normal people simply can't do that."

"Then how are you able to do it?"

"I haven't been able to do it either. The reason why the flying sword can be conjured up is largely because it is itself a highly malleable alchemical tool. So I don't need to change my perception. As long as I think it's possible, then it can be done."

While Lynn was explaining things to Hermione, he finally flew out of this desolate land.

However, what lay before him was not a populated town, but an endless ocean.
