Chapter 388, Section 386: Snape's Dream
Chapter 389, Section 386: Snape's Dream
"Harry already knows that Black was responsible for his parents' deaths?"
At the dinner table, Lynn asked Hermione a question while eating a grilled sausage.
Hermione was also in a bad mood. Harry had recently suffered a setback, and Ron had been attacked today, so naturally she wasn't in a good mood either.
"Yes, he sneaked out last week and overheard Professor McGonagall and the others talking at the Three Broomsticks. He learned that Blake betrayed his parents, which led to the Mysterio killing his family. He has been depressed ever since that day."
Hermione didn't hide Harry's escape from Lynn, nor did she need to. After all, the entrance to the secret passage was a living statue in Hogwarts, and the statue might have already told Lynn about it beforehand.
Lynn touched his chin.
"I remember the three of you aren't planning to go home for Christmas this year?"
"Yes, Ron and Harry don't want to go back, and you certainly won't be going home either, so I'll stay here too."
Today is the last day before Christmas. Tomorrow, Hogwarts will begin its Christmas holiday, and there won't be many people left in the castle.
"Then please arrange for Harry and Ron to meet me tomorrow. I have something to discuss with them."
Although Hermione was very curious about what Lynn was going to say, she didn't ask any questions and honestly agreed to meet him in the Great Hall the next morning.
After dinner, Lynn did not go back to his dormitory immediately, but went to Snape's Dean's office.
Snape was processing a rat's liver, and Lynn immediately went to help him out.
"Get your dirty hands off me! You've never come here for anything good. Now that you've started, who knows what else you'll steal next!" Snape said sarcastically in his usual tone.
Lynn said with a grin.
"Good news, Professor, I really have some good news to tell you this time."
"When you stole that potion of joy from me last time, you told me it was a good thing, and this so-called good thing was summoning that stupid tree?"
Snape said this insincerely, as if he had never boasted to Lupin that Lynn was his student.
"How did you come to the conclusion that tree is stupid? It's obviously cool, isn't it?"
Lynn had taken plenty of Joyful Potions from Snape to practice his Patronus Charm, a fact he couldn't deny, but he would never admit that his Patronus was stupid.
"A plant guardian spirit? What else is that but stupidity? You don't actually think that the only purpose of summoning a guardian spirit is to subdue Dementors, do you? Every guardian spirit is a sentient being, and your tree, haha."
Lynn didn't know if his guardian spirit had any sentience, but he knew that once the guardian spirit was summoned, it could give everyone around it a good dream.
Lynn looked at Snape with suspicion.
"Professor, what did you dream about at the Quidditch pitch that day?"
This question seemed to have triggered some memories for Snape, and the corners of his mouth actually turned up slightly, as if he was about to reveal a gentle smile that was rarely seen in thousands of years. However, the smile lasted for less than half a second before his face darkened again.
"What's it to you? If you have nothing to say, get out of my office!"
Lynn curled his lip. He could guess what this middle-aged bachelor was dreaming of—wasn't he just lusting after Harry's mother's beauty?
If Snape ever wants to adopt a Chinese name, Lynn would strongly suggest that he take the surname Cao.
I didn't mean anything by it; I just felt that he shared the same interests as a certain historical figure with the same surname, Cao.
That's what she thought in her heart, but Lynn still had to comfort the old single dog's emotions.
"Oh, Professor, don't be angry. Let's not talk about this anymore. I came to see you today because I really have something to ask you."
Snape buried his head in the belly of a dead rat, then pulled out its bloody liver, completely ignoring Lynn.
"Is Professor Lupin a werewolf?"
Snape stopped what he was doing and stared at Lynn.
"Did Dumbledore tell you that?"
"Do I need anyone to tell me that? You practically made it obvious during class," Lynn said sarcastically.
Snape snorted, not elaborating on his talk about werewolves when he was teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts.
"Dumbledore really didn't think things through this time. That's a werewolf! How could he let him be a professor at Hogwarts? Who will be responsible if something goes wrong!"
Lynn knew, of course, that this wasn't what really angered Snape, and he didn't intend to expose him, but instead continued to ask.
"So now, to ensure Professor Lupin doesn't hurt anyone when he transforms, you're the one preparing the wolfsbane potion for him, right?"
A mocking smile appeared on Snape's face.
"Of course he has to rely on me, otherwise what potion master would specially prepare wolfsbane potion for a werewolf every month?"
"Professor, you must also know where Professor Lupin transforms during his full moon, right?"
Snape looked up and glanced at him.
"What do you want to do by asking this? You certainly don't want to be so presumptuous as to go looking for him when he transforms, do you?"
I warn you, the wolfsbane potion isn't foolproof; even if a werewolf drinks it, there's still a chance it will go out of control during the transformation.
Lynn said nonchalantly.
"Even if the werewolf is powerful after transforming, can it be as powerful as the basilisk from last year? Besides, I'm not looking to fight Professor Lupin, so why are we fighting?"
"So what do you want to do?"
"Don't worry, Professor, I assure you this is a good thing. Just tell me, and I'll give you a surprise in a week. I've already informed Professor Dumbledore about this."
"You know that place." Now that the matter had been brought up, Snape naturally had no need to hide it from Lynn.
"Dumbledore said that the secret passage where the Basilisk was hidden last year was sealed off, but the entrance was still left under the lawn outside the castle. Lupin used that passage to go to the underground of Hogsmeade during the full moon to transform."
After Snape finished speaking, Lynn belatedly realized that, apart from the Screaming Shack, where Ian was currently using the transformation location, this was the only place that was both secluded and safe.
He did know that before, but he never thought of it.
Having gotten the answer he wanted to know, Lynn immediately stood up from his chair and said goodbye to Snape.
"Just wait for my good news, Professor. I promise you won't be disappointed."
After saying that, he turned and left the dean's office.
Snape snorted coldly as he looked at Lynn, who had only managed to peel the livers from three rats in total.
"What a sly one."
