Chapter 376, Section 373: The Guardian
Each Dementor is like a dot in a tapestry of despair; hundreds of Dementors merge together and fly over the Quidditch pitch during this downpour.
The whole world seemed to have fallen silent.
The sound of the downpour was drowned out, and both the players on the field and the students in the stands were momentarily dazed.
These Dementors greedily steal every bit of joy and happiness.
However, just before they could even enjoy it...
A jet-black raven flew silently into the sky, only stopping when it landed right above the Dementors' heads.
Then the black crows disappeared, and a large net that was expanding rapidly in all directions suddenly appeared.
In Hogwarts Castle next to the Quidditch field, a blind, hunchbacked old witch flew out of a fourth-floor window with a snarling laugh, a knight wielding a lance charged through the castle gates, and a flying pig flapped its wings and glided through the sky.
The old witch, the knight, and the two flying pigs each grabbed a corner of the large black net, trapping it tightly over the entire Quidditch pitch!
The Dementors, which were flying in mid-air, were forced to land on the grass of the court by the black net.
Lynn's tone was icy as he stopped Professor McGonagall from extending her wand.
"Let me do it, Professor. I made that promise to them back then."
During this time, Dumbledore was not at Hogwarts. Not only were the conflicts within the Ministry of Magic intensifying, but factions within Wizengamor were also causing trouble. As the First Wizard, he had to go there to take charge.
These Dementors probably saw this opportunity and ignored Lynn's previous warnings, wanting to come in and have a good meal.
Professor McGonagall could see that Lynn's actions were intended to ensure that none of the Dementors could escape. She had no doubt that Lynn had the ability to do so, but she was worried about the consequences of his actions.
"They are all still public employees of the Ministry of Magic. Killing them all will get you into trouble."
Lynn raised his wand.
"One should not break one's word, and I don't think I will be in any trouble. The ones who should be in trouble are them."
A soft silver light floated around Lynn, and a warm, sunny, and joyful energy permeated the surroundings. Professor McGonagall saw Lynn's actions, sighed, shook her head, and said nothing more. Then she waved her wand and rescued Harry from falling off the flying broomstick.
"Protect the Gods! (Triple Boost)"
The moment Lynn uttered the incantation, silver threads of light suddenly appeared in the air, swaying in the wind like willow branches in summer.
The entire stadium seemed to be illuminated by silver light, and every ray of light was like ripples on a lake, spreading in all directions.
When Lynn first unleashed the Guardian Charm with its strongest amplification multiplier, he noticed a significant difference between this and the previous times.
The silver light threads were no longer scattered and disorderly, but rather orderly and focused, converging in one direction as if to solidify into a physical entity.
But before it could be successfully molded, the silver light summoned by the Guardian Charm was already unbearable for the dark mass of Dementors on the field. They shrieked silently, their bodies emitting black gas as if they were being evaporated.
The Dementors frantically tried to take off from the ground, but were firmly blocked by the large black net in mid-air.
The young wizards in the stands, affected by the Dementors, felt a warmth as if the sun were shining on them. Silver threads of light floated throughout the Quidditch pitch, and the students seemed to have drunk a large bottle of euphoria, with genuine smiles naturally spreading across their faces.
From his seat, Lupin stared blankly at the dreamlike scene, asking incredulously, "Is this the Patronus Charm?"
Even under such powerful magical influence, Snape's face remained gloomy, as if nothing could make him show a genuine smile. Hearing Lupin's words, he snorted coldly and looked at Lynn, giving an irrelevant answer.
"That's my student."
Like a black fish caught in a net, the Dementor struggled to escape from the black net, but it was unable to break through the iron net that looked like it was woven from steel wire!
Harry, who had been gripped by the Dementors' chill but had now recovered under the silver light, opened his eyes as he lay on the lawn.
Professor McGonagall's spell protected him from falling off the broom without causing any harm. He stared blankly as countless silver lights converged in the center of the Quidditch pitch not far from him, slowly forming a thick trunk. Silver lights kept appearing out of thin air, constantly filling the trunk, and eventually forming a towering tree!
A large tree made of silver light supported the black iron net. The torrential rain and gale seemed to have no effect on it. It gently swayed its branches and leaves, emitting a soft silver glow. Then, the last few Dementors that were still barely clinging to life vanished into thin air amidst their agonizing screams.
Harry stared blankly at the tree, his eyes lifeless, as if he had fallen into a strange state of mind.
He seemed to see his parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, and all his family members, both familiar and unfamiliar, gathered together around a long table, happily enjoying dinner.
His mother forked a chicken leg for him, his father scolded his mother for spoiling him so much, his grandparents said that his father was the same when he was a child, and his uncles and aunts all looked at him with a doting gaze.
He even watched as his cousin Dudley sincerely apologized to him, saying that he shouldn't have bullied him like that before.
Aunt Penny held his hand tightly and said that she and her husband shouldn't have been so harsh on him.
And then there's Lynn. Lynn looked at him with a comforting smile and told him, "Now you know how much they love you."
Harry felt incredibly happy, as if he were living in a dream. Every cell in his body was radiating joy and excitement. Even if it really was a dream, he would be willing to live in it forever and never wake up.
However, the next moment, the cold rain slapped against his face, pulling him back to reality.
He was still on the Quidditch pitch, the rain was still pouring down, the wind was so strong it felt like it could blow people away, and the mud on the ground was dirty and sticky. There was no trace of the joy and happiness he had felt in his dream.
Not only Harry, but all the other contestants and all the young wizards in the audience looked utterly bewildered and disappointed, as if their dreams had been shattered.
Even some professors seemed to wake from a dream, looking around helplessly, not knowing what had happened.
Even Lynn, the one who started it all, stared blankly at the wand in his hand.
Was that tree his guardian spirit?
