Chapter 306, Section 303: I'm Still a Patient

When Lynn woke up, his face was facing the sunlight.

The weather outside was perfect, with bright sunshine and just the right temperature.

The sunlight was a bit too bright.

He squinted, avoiding the glare of the light, and looked to the side, where he saw a chestnut-haired little girl sleeping on the edge of the bed.

The sunlight shone on her fair face, making one involuntarily sigh at the boundless beauty of youth.

Lynn subconsciously reached out, wanting to pinch her delicate cheeks.

Then Hermione was woken up by Lynn's actions.

She dazedly pushed Lynn's mischievous hand away, then looked up at him blankly, momentarily lost in thought.

Lynn smiled and nodded at her.

"You're awake. Congratulations, the surgery was a success."

Hermione was startled and hurriedly touched herself.

"What kind of surgery?"

Then she realized that Lynn was playing a trick on her again.

She wanted to punch Lynn in the chest in frustration, but as soon as she raised her hand, she remembered that he was still a patient, so she could only angrily put her fist down again.

She blinked and stared at Lynn expectantly, as if observing his expression.

"How are you feeling now? Should I go and call Mrs. Pomfrey?"

Lynn sat up in bed and had Hermione put a pillow behind his back to lean against the headboard. He stretched.

"I feel fine, no need to call her Mrs. Pomfrey."

He looked at the abundant variety of fruits on the bedside table, picked up a grape, and popped it into his mouth.

"How many days have I been asleep?"

Hermione took an apple and peeled it for him.

"You slept for five days. At first, Mrs. Pomfrey wouldn't let us come in to visit you. She said you were badly injured and needed to rest. Later, I came here every day to beg her to let me come in to visit you. Yesterday, she seemed to get annoyed by me and felt that your health had improved, so she let me come in to keep watch over you."

Hermione wasn't very skilled at peeling fruit. Lynn watched as she peeled off large chunks of flesh along with the peel, and his eyes twitched involuntarily. Then he took the poor apple, which had shrunk to half its original size, from her hand.

"Click."

He took a bite; the apple was crisp and sweet, and he could tell at a glance that it had been picked from a tree planted by Hagrid.

Lynn had just swallowed a bite of apple when she realized something was wrong.

He stared at Hermione with wide eyes.

Why are you here?

Hermione looked at him strangely, wondering if he had suffered a brain injury that Madam Pomfrey hadn't noticed.

"Didn't I just say that Mrs. Pomfrey wouldn't let me in at first?"

"No, no!" Lynn interrupted her, sitting up in bed. "I mean, do you know how I got hurt?"

Hermione rolled her eyes at him.

"Not only do I know, the whole school knows about you being Professor Lockhart, but I was probably the first one to guess."

"The whole school knows!" Lynn repeated Hermione's words in shock.

He desperately tried to recall what he had said to Dumbledore before he fell asleep.

Lynn clearly remembered that he had explicitly hinted to Old Deng that his disguise might be exposed after he passed out, and asked Old Deng to help him keep his disguise intact.

But what's the situation now?

Hermione recounted the events of that day to Lynn in detail.

After Lynn fell into a deep sleep, the transformation effect on his body disappeared. Although his face was covered by a lot of bloodstains, the students still recognized Lynn's face.

Professor McGonagall, looking utterly shocked, asked Dumbledore what was going on. Dumbledore then admitted in front of the entire Hogwarts community that "Professor Lockhart" was actually Lynn in disguise.

The real Lockhart was actually a fraud. Hogwarts couldn't find a suitable Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, so they had no choice but to have Lynn take the place. The "Lynn" who attended classes normally every day was actually Lynn's cousin in disguise.

The professors and students at Hogwarts were all stunned by the news. None of them had expected that the professor who had taught them Defense Against the Dark Arts for almost a whole semester was actually a third-year student!

But soon, the young wizards excitedly accepted it.

Gryffindor students thought it was fun and cool; Slytherins considered Lynn one of their own, as he single-handedly saved Hogwarts and was the pride of the Slytherin house; Ravenclaw students were pleasantly surprised to find that their favorite professor was actually the same age as them, making it easier to make a move later; while Hufflepuff students were just watching the drama unfold and said it was really interesting.

In general, all the young wizards were filled with gratitude and admiration for Lynn.

After all, the prestige he had built at Hogwarts this semester was genuine, and in the end, he defeated the Basilisk and saved Hogwarts in front of everyone. Therefore, no one raised any objections to Lynn becoming a Hogwarts professor at the young age of fourteen.

Even during the days Lynn was in a coma, countless young wizards gathered in front of the school hospital every day, begging Madam Pomfrey to let them in to visit their Defense Against the Dark Arts professor.

But so far, only Hermione has been granted permission.

If Mrs. Pomfrey didn't let her in, she really intended to stay in the school hospital indefinitely.

Lynn listened to Hermione's story with a completely bewildered expression.

He didn't understand why Dumbledore wouldn't help him conceal his identity, but instead so thoroughly stripped him of his disguise.

Before he could figure it out, Lynn remembered what Hermione had just said.

"Wait a minute, you said you were the first to guess my identity? When did you guess?"

Hermione looked at him slyly and gave him a reminder.

Do you remember Umaru who called your name in your office on Christmas Day and then immediately left?

"That's you? But how did you become Umaru?" Before Hermione could explain, Lynn had already guessed the answer himself.

"You and Harry asked me for the permit for the book 'Powerful Potions' in the restricted section, and then you used it to concoct a Polyjuice Potion and turn into Umaru to test me."

Lynn understood the cause and effect, and Hermione, looking him up and down, clicked her tongue in admiration.

"I never would have guessed, this little girl is quite clever."

Hermione grabbed his arm.

"Don't forget the promise you made back then: if I discover your secret, you must reward me."

Lynn looked at her blankly.

Did I say that?

Hermione got angry at his expression and pinched the flesh on his arm hard with her fingers.

"You're trying to renege on your promise!"

"No, no, I was just kidding. How could I go back on my word? Let go, let go, I'm still a patient."
