Chapter 264, Section 261: The Weasley Family's Alchemy Talent
"Oh! What a disgrace, Fred."
"Yes, everyone is watching us, and I even saw a few Slytherin bastards."
"It's truly laughable. We tried to ambush the professor, but not only did we fail, we were also hit by the bombs we had prepared. It's really..."
What are you trying to say?
"It's all your fault! If we had all agreed from the beginning to use the aging bullets, we might not have encountered this failure!" George complained to Fred.
"Why are you blaming me for the mistakes? Does our failure have anything to do with what kind of bomb we used? I think the problem lies with the plan you proposed in the first place!" Fred retorted defiantly.
"Really? You think there's something wrong with my plan? Then why don't you use your clever little brain to come up with a useful plan?"
"Useful? Ha! You're always like this, blaming me for every failure!"
Their argument seemed to be getting more and more heated, and they even grabbed each other's beards and hair as if they were about to fight, which made the onlookers laugh even louder.
"Class is about to start, why aren't you in the classroom?" Lynn shooed away the young wizards who had gathered around him, and then walked up to the Weasley brothers.
The two of them seemed to be fighting fiercely and didn't pay attention to Lynn next to them.
"Alright, alright, stop pretending. Who do you think you can fool with your little tricks?"
Upon hearing Lynn's words, George and Fred awkwardly loosened each other's beards and hair, laughing sheepishly as they said, "We didn't understand what you were talking about, Professor."
The two brothers were so close they were practically inseparable. Even if they had a disagreement, they would never fight in public. This was clearly a rehearsal for Lynn, to show him that they were already shameful and pathetic enough, and perhaps he would forget about punishing them for attacking the professor.
Lynn didn't reply to them. Instead, he wrinkled his nose and waved his wand, casting a cleansing spell on them.
"No, Professor, our dung bomb cleansing spell is ineffective."
Before Fred could finish speaking, he noticed that the stench on him and George had disappeared, and they even smelled of soap.
They stared at Lynn in astonishment, unable to understand why Lynn's cleansing spell had worked!
The reason is actually quite simple: the dung bomb is immune to ordinary cleansing spells, but Lynn's spell is strong enough that it cannot be immune to it.
"This bomb you guys made that can age people is quite interesting. I don't dare to use any spells on you, for fear that you won't be able to turn back." Lynn was indeed very interested in their age-increasing bomb.
Upon hearing this, George and Fred forgot all about how they had wanted to attack Lynn earlier, and said with pride.
"This is our latest research professor; we haven't even figured out the antidote ourselves yet."
Lynn stroked his chin and nodded seriously, carefully observing their current appearance: "It seems to be an advanced application of shapeshifting magic, not actually aging the body. It will become ineffective after a while."
The Weasley twins stared at him in astonishment, not expecting Lynn to see through the age-enhancing bullet at a glance.
"Yes, there's no antidote for the aging bullet, but there's no need for one either. Just wait a while and the transformation spell it has will disappear, so..." George looked at him expectantly, and Fred continued, "So Professor Lockhart, we were just trying to play a little joke on you, we didn't mean any harm."
Lynn crossed his arms and looked down at them, speaking leisurely.
"Is it true? But when you rushed out just now, you said you were going to punish me."
The Weasley brothers exchanged a glance; they weren't actually afraid of any punishment for teasing the professor.
To put it bluntly, after more than three years at Hogwarts, they had experienced almost every kind of punishment in the castle, and it didn't seem like much of a deal.
But Professor Lockhart usually doesn't punish people; he'll just make you copy spells.
If you copy all the spell theories and spellcasting techniques you learned from first to fourth grade five times, most junior wizards would probably never want to write again after doing so.
George and Fred aren't afraid of copying things, but they are afraid of wasting the time they would otherwise spend making prank props.
"You must have heard of the professor. Fred and I are known for our respect for teachers and friendship with classmates at Hogwarts. How could we possibly say such a thing?" George said with a righteous expression. His old face and tone of voice made him seem quite righteous.
Lynn's lips twitched. If he hadn't always known the personalities of these two people, he might have actually believed it.
"Alright, stop pretending. I won't punish you much, and I even want to cooperate with you."
"cooperate?"
The two brothers looked at him suspiciously, feeling that Lynn had no good intentions.
Lynn leaned against the wall, looked at the two old men in front of him, and nodded: "That's right, it's about cooperation."
"What kind of cooperation?" Fred asked warily.
The Weasley twins were not stupid; in fact, there were few smarter than them among their peers at Hogwarts. It's just that they didn't use their intelligence for studying.
"Judging from the two types of bombs you invented, I can see that you have a high talent for alchemy. Did you learn your alchemical knowledge on your own?"
George and Fred exchanged a glance, thinking they could give Lynn a little hint and see what he was up to.
George said, "No, my dad has some knowledge of alchemy. He likes to modify things, so he taught us some things in secret."
Fred explained, "Mom didn't like Dad researching those things and didn't want him to corrupt us, but actually we've been teaching ourselves some alchemy with him all along."
They were probably telling the truth. Lynn knew that Mr. Weasley liked Muggle technology and especially liked to modify it. For example, the magical car that Harry and Ron drove to school was modified by Mr. Weasley himself.
But Arthur Weasley also started from scratch. Although the Weasley family is pure-blooded, they are not an alchemical family. Based on their alchemical talent, Lynn felt that he could take this opportunity to invest.
"Do you want to specialize in alchemy in the future? Hogwarts lacks instruction in this area, but I can personally donate some alchemy-related books and provide you with funds to purchase alchemical materials for your research on alchemical items."
