Chapter 248, Section 246: The Extra Magic Book
Chapter 249, Section 246: The Extra Magic Book
When Lynn was inspecting the bookshelf, he clearly remembered that there were twelve magic books on this row.
Three of them are about the physical structure of wizards and the structure of Muggle identities, while the others introduce various kinds of evil black magic.
But now there are thirteen books on the bookshelf, one more than he had checked before!
Lynn pulled out the extra book, which looked very old-fashioned. There were no words on the cover, only a picture of the Hogwarts school emblem.
He opened the cover; the title page was originally blank, but after Lynn opened it, a line of words appeared on the slightly yellowed page.
This book and this object are dedicated to the heirs.
This scene reminded Lynn of Tom's diary. He looked at the book in his hand with suspicion and asked tentatively.
"You have your own consciousness?"
However, the book did not respond. The line of text that appeared on the title page was like a pre-programmed sequence; it would appear if the right person opened it.
It's better if there's no response. If this book really has its own consciousness, then Lynn should be on guard.
But the situation was already very strange. He hadn't forgotten what he came here to look for, but he couldn't find the entrance to the cellar. Instead, following the instructions of the information, he found the book.
Lynn's long-held premonition has come true.
The person he was looking for, Mrs. Grey, and the Sorting Hat were not the same thing he was talking about at all.
Looking at the magic book in his hand, Lynn felt a headache coming on. He had put in so much effort but hadn't found what he was looking for, which made him feel like he had wasted his time.
But he had finally found something, and no matter what, he had to figure out exactly what it was that he had gone through so much trouble to find.
The spellbook is thick, but it only contains three spells. One of them is an advanced version of "Expelliarmus," which can destroy the opponent's wand upon hit, making it very simple and brutal.
There is also a very interesting little spell called "Connection Spell". It can be used by the caster to create a magical node, which can then be used by other wizards to connect to the magical node to achieve long-distance communication. It is somewhat different from the commonly used QQ and WeChat in modern times. The form of connection and communication is more similar to forums and Tieba.
Finally, there's the "Food Spell." As the name suggests, any food, regardless of its original taste, will transform into its most beloved flavor after this spell has been applied. The effect varies from person to person; different people will taste the same food treated with this spell differently, but without exception, they will all find it delicious.
Judging from the effects of these three spells, and considering what Lynn went through to obtain this item, there's no doubt that even if they weren't created by Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff themselves, they are still closely related to them.
Apart from the three spells mentioned earlier, the remaining half of this book is actually a whole, serving as a box.
Inside the box was a jet-black metal rod.
Lynn easily pried the metal rod out of the box, and with the help of the Illumination Charm, he could clearly observe all the details of the metal rod.
The exact material of the metal rod is unknown, but it feels cool to the touch and has a unique metallic texture. Its thickness is similar to Lynn's wand, about the thickness of an ordinary pen, and its length is about eight inches (20 centimeters). The surface is very smooth, without any characters or patterns engraved on it, and nothing special about it.
He held the metal rod in his hand and studied it for a long time, but he couldn't figure out what was special about it. Besides the three spells recorded in the magic book and this strange thing, there was nothing else.
Lynn could only stuff the metal rod back into the book, and then naturally put the book in his pocket and left the library. The book wasn't originally on the library shelf; he had summoned it himself, so this behavior didn't count as theft.
He was not about to give up when he hadn't found what he was looking for, and the root of his wasted efforts lay with Ms. Grey.
The following evening, Lynn once again impersonated Hermione and arrived at the Ravenclaw common room. This time, he didn't bother anyone to call out Mrs. Grey. When he arrived, the ghost was leisurely preparing to float back into the common room from outside.
Lynn blocked her way, and Ms. Gray also saw Lynn. She looked up and spoke condescendingly before Lynn could even speak.
"You didn't find that thing? Of course, I don't mean to belittle you. Although you seem powerful and have enough wisdom, if that thing could be obtained so easily, it wouldn't have been hidden for a thousand years."
"I found it."
"I know, there's nothing I can do if you can't find me, and there's nothing I can do even if you look for me," Ms. Gray said, only realizing what Lynn had just said halfway through her sentence. She stared wide-eyed down at Lynn, the deep scar hidden in the loose collar was unfathomable, it was just a pity that it was somewhat transparent, the ghost's body could not present the original texture of the car headlights.
"What did you say? You found it!"
Her voice was hoarse with shock, which attracted the attention of many young wizards coming in and out of the lounge. Lynn had to change his position and walk towards a secluded corridor. Lady Grey followed behind him consciously, completely losing her usual arrogance, and stammered.
"No, impossible. It's been thousands of years, and it's not like no one has tried, but no one has ever obtained that thing. How could you possibly gain the approval of three founders in a row?"
Lynn didn't say anything more to her, but simply pulled out the magic book with the Hogwarts crest on the cover from his pocket.
Ms. Gray seemed stunned by the truth.
Her eyes widened, her mouth agape—enough to fit a ball—as she stared in disbelief at what Lynn was holding.
Three full minutes passed before she seemed to come to her senses. She shakily reached out her transparent hand, trying to touch the book in Lynn's hand, but her hand passed right through the magic book and she couldn't touch anything.
"You really have it? Can you open it? Let me see the scepter inside." Her voice was almost pleading.
Lynn was not stingy with his words; knowing that what she wanted to see was the metal rod tucked behind the book, he opened the book and showed it to Ms. Gray.
