Chapter 166, Section 163: The Chase

Lynn could disguise himself as Magus and didn't need to use the Compound Elixir to transform, but he still found a strand of hair and pretended to drink it as well.

Yelena was lucky; she didn't turn into something neither male nor female. After drinking the compound decoction, she became a tall woman.

Lynn also used the Disguise Magus to transform himself into the image of a burly Soviet man.

After they finished their disguise, Lynn opened the window of the room.

"Can you climb down?"

Although the second floor is not high, there are very few things to climb on, so it is not easy for an ordinary person without training to climb down from the window.

Without saying a word, Yelena, as nimble as a cat, climbed down from the second floor to the ground floor in the blink of an eye.

However, just as she was about to turn around and give Lynn upstairs a provocative look, she heard a "thump!" behind her. Lynn, who had jumped down from the second floor, stood up easily and patted off non-existent dust from his hands.

"Your skills are pretty good, so let's hurry up, I'm in a rush."

Yelena quickly followed his steps. Before leaving, she couldn't help but glance at the second floor of the hotel with a strange expression.

Is this really a person?

"Sir, it was me who made the call," the hotel owner said, bowing respectfully to the policeman. "I saw the wanted notice on TV. At first, they looked familiar, but then I realized it was them."

The Soviet policeman impatiently interrupted him: "Where are they now?"

"They've been in the innermost room on the second floor for two hours and haven't come out yet."

The policeman glanced back at the three strange men in black robes behind him, who, without saying a word, went straight up to the second floor.

The hotel owner felt a strange sense of dread as he looked at the three men in black robes. He swallowed hard and mustered his courage to ask the policeman who had stayed downstairs instead of following them.

"Sir, are they police officers?"

The Soviet policeman lit a cigarette for himself, took a deep drag, and said, "Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask."

Yes, yes, yes.

Just as Yelena had said, Ivanov did indeed personally lead two Aurors to hunt them down.

The three of them walked very lightly, making no sound at all. They stood on either side of the gatehouse, each taking out their own wand.

Ivanov extended three fingers, then retracted one every two seconds. When he had clenched one hand into a fist, one of the Aurors chanted a spell.

"Thunderous explosion!"

They had no intention of using a lockpicking charm to open the door; instead, they used an explosive charm to blast the door to pieces. Ivanov and another Auror rushed inside as the door shattered.

However, the room was completely empty. Apart from the sex toys scattered all over the floor, which proved that someone had been there, there wasn't a single hair left.

Ivanov walked to the open window, glanced down, and said coldly to one of the Aurors.

"How long will it take to extract the traces of Shaik's magic?"

Auror bowed respectfully and replied, "The traces of magic she left behind are too few. The technical department said it will take another two days."

"Make them finish it in one day, or they can go to Siberia and keep the Dementors company."

At this moment, many tenants outside were startled by the noise of the explosion, and they curiously peeked out of their rooms.

Ivanov turned and walked downstairs: "Dispose of their memories."

Two Aurors, wands in hand, gathered the ignorant Muggles together, preparing to cast the Oblivion Charm on them.

The hotel owner looked at Ivanov coming downstairs and asked in a flustered manner.

"What did you do to my house? The cost of repairs shouldn't be included in the reward for reporting this, right? I..."

Ivanov did not answer his question, but stared straight at him and recited the incantation.

"Capturing thoughts and ideas."

The innkeeper's voice abruptly stopped; he stared blankly into Ivanov's eyes, as if he had been bewitched.

After reading all of the Muggle's memories of Shayk and the man in black, Ivanov ended his Legilimency on the innkeeper.

Finding no useful clues made him extremely agitated. He brandished his wand, aiming it at the innkeeper and the policeman who had led the way.

"Forgetting everything leads to emptiness."

"So, is that little ball in your hand your pet?"

On the way to the library Yelena mentioned, Tom started acting up again, demanding that Lynn take him out of his pocket so he could get some fresh air.

Lynn did not deny this: "Of course you can think that way. He is still young. I take him with me to teach him to have normal values."

"Hey, hey, hey, how can you do that! Of course not! I'm not some pet, I'm Tom Riddle."

Yelena silently complained to herself, "With your profit-driven values, you actually want to educate others?"

Lynn laid down three rules for Tom again: he would no longer use spells to force him to sleep, but Tom could not speak freely; he could only speak when Lynn gave permission.

After leaving the hotel, Yelena led Lynn to a lively residential area, which was very close to the hotel; they walked for about twenty minutes.

Lynn looked at her strangely: "Don't tell me that the inn I randomly picked just happened to be very close to that magic library you know about."

"Of course not," Yelena explained. "I don't know the exact location of that library, because there are many entrances in Mexico, and there just happens to be one door that leads to it."

She led Lynn to a secluded corner behind the residential area, where there was an old wooden house that looked dilapidated and out of place with the surrounding modern buildings, but it had not been demolished.

Yelena held out her hand to Lynn: "Lend me your wand."

Her wand was confiscated by the Aurors on Klin Street, so she now needs to borrow Lynn's wand.

Lynn did not hesitate and handed the wand to her. It wasn't that he trusted this woman so much, but rather that it made no difference to him whether he had the wand or not.

Yelena was unaware of all this. She thought she would have to use some persuasion to gain Lynn's trust, but to her surprise, he handed her the wand without hesitation. This changed Yelena's impression of Lynn considerably.

She took Lynn's wand, pointed it at the wooden house, and recited a spell that Lynn couldn't understand.

The wooden door gave Lynn a strange feeling; it was right in front of him, yet it gave him the illusion that he could never touch it.

After Yelena finished chanting the spell, she returned the wand to Lynn, then pushed open the door and led Lynn into the ancient library.
