Chapter 158, Section 155: Floo Powder and the Port Key

Three days is enough time for Lynn to arrange everything at home.

Actually, there wasn't much to arrange. Ever since Kira and Umaru came to the house, Kira has been in charge of housekeeping, and Umaru has been in charge of eating. Lynn has only occasionally listened to old Kira's work reports and hasn't asked about anything else.

Meanwhile, Lynn also made a point of learning more about his biological parents from Kira. He was going to the Kingdom of Sue to meet the witch Yelena Shayk, who, according to Dumbledore, was a friend of his mother. He needed to know some information that could prove his identity.

During this time, he made a special trip to Hermione's house to tell her that he was going on a long trip and that if she was bored at home, she could come to his house to play with Umaru and teach her some basic elementary school knowledge, or if she was interested, he could teach her some magic knowledge.

Although Hermione was very unhappy that Lynn was running around instead of staying home with her during summer vacation, she also knew that there were some things she shouldn't ask too many questions about.

The appointed time with Dumbledore arrived quickly; three days later, by the fireplace in the Leaky Cauldron.

Lynn did not use his original appearance, but instead used the Disguise Magus to transform into a pale-faced, decadent middle-aged man.

He borrowed the appearance of the Death Eater that Professor Fox killed in the first semester, and also used the pseudonym Hubert on the identity card that Dumbledore gave him.

Although Britain and the Soviet Union were far apart, Lynn felt that he might never be able to go there again in his life except for this time. However, adhering to the principle of being cautious in everything, he did not use his original appearance.

Moreover, there are always many inconveniences when you are out in the world as a child.

Beside the fireplace in the Leaky Cauldron sits a box of Floo Powder. This vehicle is a resource strictly controlled by the Ministry of Magic, and only FlooBoom, a company headquartered in Diagon Alley, can produce it.

However, this powder is not expensive; it has a uniform price, and one spoonful costs two scoops.

"Oh, a new face." Tom, the owner of the Leaky Cauldron, said casually as he took the two scoops Lynn handed him.

"With so many wizards passing by every day, when is there not a new face?" Lynn said, taking a pinch of Floo Powder from the box after paying.

Old Tom nodded. He hadn't meant anything by it; he was just grumbling.

Have a pleasant journey.

Lynn did not respond to his blessing, because he had already sprinkled Floo Powder into the fire, and the originally bright yellow flames immediately turned dark green.

"John's Hotel".

He stepped into the fire. Then he announced his destination.

The green flames spread rapidly throughout his body, but Lynn did not feel any heat at all. It was like a warm breeze. Then, when the flames passed over his head, he felt as if he had been sucked into a huge vortex.

Compared to Apparition, Floo is much gentler.

The deafening wind howled in Lynn's ears. He didn't close his eyes, but all he could see was green flames all around him. He couldn't see anything else. The space around him seemed very small, and his elbows kept bumping into things, forcing Lynn to hug his arms tightly.

Traveling with Floo Powder is obviously slower than Apparition. This state lasted for about a minute or two until he felt the temperature getting colder and his feet suddenly touched the ground.

Lynn stumbled and almost fell to the ground, but he reacted quickly and grabbed the top of the unfamiliar fireplace to steady himself.

The fireplace looked to be of very poor quality; Lynn only touched it lightly, and a brick fell off the fireplace wall, almost hitting his foot.

"Oh ho, here comes a scatterbrain," someone outside the fireplace said with a laugh in Polish.

Lynn stepped out of the fireplace, brushed the soot off his robes and hair, and looked at the only person in the room.

It was an old man with gray hair, sitting behind the hotel counter, looking at Lynn with a malicious expression.

"It will cost a lot of money to fix my stove."

Lynn couldn't understand the Polish he was speaking. Besides his mother tongue and English, he had only recently crammed on Soviet language.

However, he doesn't need to understand it.

Lynn walked straight to the counter and spoke in English.

"The phoenix rises from the ashes, reborn from the flames."

Immediately, the innkeeper's expression changed. His previous playful and carefree attitude vanished without a trace, and his face became solemn.

"Is there anything I can help you with?"

This time, he used English.

Lynn didn't waste words with him. He suspected that the old man was actually a member of the overseas branch of the Order of the Phoenix founded by Dumbledore, and he didn't want to get too involved with these people.

"I need a key to the Suez Canal, and the one closest to Moscow."

"Come with me."

The hotel owner hurriedly led him up to the second floor and opened the innermost room.

This place is like a storage room, with all sorts of random things, but these things are also neatly arranged on rows of shelves.

"Su Guo, shelf number 6, closest to Moscow, door key number 601."

The innkeeper muttered a number and led Lynn to a dilapidated wrench.

"Because Mercco is the headquarters of the Soviet Union's Magic Council, the Portkeys are controlled. No Portkey can be directly locked to Mercco without permission. So this key can only take you to a Muggle town very close to Mercco, where there are a few flying brooms that you can ride to Mercco."

Lynn already knew this before he came: not only the door key, but also the Floo Network. All the fireplaces in Mosco connected to the Floo Network were under unified control, which was why he couldn't go directly to Sue from the fireplace in the Leaky Cauldron.

Moreover, such strict controls were only recently implemented, and it is said that even the official Floo Network channels between the Ministry of Magic and other countries have been closed. This shows just how tense the situation in the Soviet Union has become.

Before Lynn picked up the door key, the hotel owner, who appeared to be a member of the Order of the Phoenix, gave him a special instruction.

"The situation in the magical world of the Soviet Union has been rather unfavorable lately; you should be careful."

"Thank you for reminding me."

Lynn gripped the wrench, and the next moment, he felt as if something was hooking behind his navel, pulling him in one direction.

After another twist, Lynn's feet touched the ground again.

This time he landed in an empty wooden cabin, which was covered in dust and looked as if no one had been there for a long time.

Along the wall of the cabin, there was a pile of old brooms lying haphazardly. If one were a wizard, one could easily tell that two of them were magical brooms that could fly.

However, Lynn had no intention of riding a broom.

Choosing to travel by flying broomstick requires waiting for nighttime to avoid Muggles, while he has a more covert way of flying.

Soon, a jet-black raven flew out of the wooden house and spread its wings toward Mosco.
