Chapter 86 New Professors and Freshman Sorting
Chapter 86 The New Professor and the Freshman Sorting (Please read and add to your favorites)
These words sounded exactly like they came from a professor or Dumbledore, but they were spoken by Moriarty, a second-year student. What's worse, the young wizards didn't find it strange at all; they thought it was perfectly normal.
Even after Moriarty's words spread throughout the train, the students from the other three houses put on their school robes, their faces turned serious, and their minds were filled with thoughts of alchemy and the plans for the upcoming academic year.
No one cared about Diana's beauty anymore; instead, they began to focus on Nicolas Flamel.
This phenomenon continued until senior students entered the Great Hall of Hogwarts.
Moriarty led the Slytherin snakes to the long table and found that there were two extra seats in the professor's chair this year, with two white-haired, kind-looking old men sitting next to Dumbledore.
"Niccolò Flamel!!!"
"Perenel!!!"
Someone called out the identities of the two elderly people, and cheers erupted from the students across the four long tables.
Hearing is believing, and the students of Hogwarts finally met the legendary Nicolas Flamel!
Moriarty stood up and applauded, and at his lead, thunderous applause erupted across the four long tables.
Nicolas Flamel's gaze fell on Moriarty, his eyes seemingly possessing immense power. Despite not using Legilimency on Moriarty, Moriarty felt his mind was in turmoil and he was exhausted.
It was as if he had experienced a life journey of over a hundred years, but it was all over in an instant. Then Moriarty became unusually calm, so calm that he exuded an aura of deathly stillness.
"Moriarty, Moriarty!" Lilith whispered, reaching out her right hand to gently poke Moriarty's arm.
A flash of inspiration struck Moriarty, jolting him awake. He looked around in a daze before finally fixing his gaze on Nicolas Flamel.
"The test of time and the sedimentation of years... are far more powerful than the magic accumulated over five hundred years."
In his previous life, Moriarty felt that Nicolas Flamel possessed an indescribable power, and now he finally had some clues, time.
Clearly, the other students didn't notice this, or rather, they didn't even think about it; they were too caught up in the joy of the legendary figure appearing in their midst.
Only Lilith glanced at Moriarty with concern; she always felt that Moriarty was acting strangely.
Lilith, who was very observant, was not the only one to notice Moriarty's unusual behavior; Nicolas Flamel and Dumbledore also did so, though the two old men did not show it, but simply smiled warmly at the students.
Nicolas Flamel said to his wife, Perenel, "The last time I saw these lovely, innocent smiles was over a hundred years ago, in Beauxbatons. Do you remember, you gave a lecture at the library?"
"Of course I remember, my dear. I also remember your lovely, innocent smile five hundred years ago. Back then, you smiled shyly and asked me about a lost Greek esoteric language."
Perenel smiled broadly and began to whisper their romantic story to Nicolas Flamel.
"Time never defeats beauty," Gemma Fali sighed, shaking her head. The usually rational woman's eyes were now filled with longing. She opened a notebook and read aloud, "When people mention Nicolas Flamel, their first thought is his Philosopher's Stone, but few know that this alchemist, born in the 14th century, lived to be 662 years old! Even less known is that Nicolas Flamel's wife, Perenelle, was three years older than him!"
Gemma suddenly emphasized, "That's right! Perenel is Nicolas Flamel's senior! They studied together at Beauxbatons! Merlin, how romantic!"
Lilith glared at Gemma, "Could you have been any more obvious in your hints?!"
Claires admitted that she envied the love between Nicolas Flamel and Perenel.
A love that has lasted for over six hundred years, who wouldn't envy it?
The little witches at Hogwarts quickly drifted into their daydreams and then started chattering excitedly with their best friends!
The topic shifted too quickly, almost instantly moving from alchemy to love.
As Dumbledore absorbed the atmosphere in the Great Hall, his smile grew even brighter.
He glanced at the elderly couple beside him and felt a pang of jealousy. Then he looked at Moriarty sitting at the top of the Slytherin table and sighed inwardly. At that moment, a multitude of inexplicable emotions welled up within him:
How wonderful it would be if GG and he enrolled at Hogwarts this year!
If only that withdrawn boy who came out of the orphanage back then were the one enrolling at Hogwarts this year!
How wonderful it would be if James, Lily, Sirius, Lupin, Snape... were all enrolling at Hogwarts this year!
in case……
Dumbledore took off his glasses, gently closed his eyes, took a deep breath, raised the wine glass on the table, took a small sip, then shook his head and smiled bitterly: "I can't believe I'm feeling this way!"
"Ta-da! Ta-da!"
A rhythmic melody drifted by, the sound growing louder as it approached, interrupting the students' reverie. They realized it was the sound of high heels walking on the floor.
However, before they could find the source of the sound, they saw a blonde beauty walk from the middle aisle of the four long tables to the professor's seat, accompanied by a fragrant breeze, and sit in the rightmost seat.
This time, it was the young wizards' turn to have wild fantasies, and the topic shifted from love to Diana.
"This is Diana, Professor?" Lilith snorted. This time, Gemma, unusually, didn't contradict her and sat down with Lilith, quietly watching Diana.
In fact, all the little witches did this; they seemed to be observing the woman who had attracted the attention of all the boys in the school, her every move, every smile.
Yes, Diana gave Dumbledore a polite smile upon taking her seat, and then winked at Moriarty.
This was like lighting a powder keg; the auditorium seemed to explode!
The young wizard seemed particularly pleased that the new Professor Diana might have something going on with Moriarty, who was the most popular among them.
Jericho whistled loudly, and if Keith and Larpo hadn't been holding him back, the American cowboy would have been ready to set off some fireworks!
However, Professor McGonagall's arrival silenced the hall. Everyone saw that Professor McGonagall was carrying the Sorting Hat and knew that the new students had arrived!
The Sorting Ceremony began, and this year's Sorting Hat became less enthusiastic after learning that Moriarty would not communicate with him. The Sorting Song was also sung in a very interesting way.
The gist of it is the hope that the young wizards of Hogwarts will unite around Moriarty.
The little snakes exclaimed that they knew everything, while Charlie Weasley loudly declared, "The Sorting Hat may have been subjected to a Confusion Charm."
It was clearly a joke, which led to a brief argument between the Sorting Hat and Charlie. In the end, Professor McGonagall urged the Hat to sort the house quickly, which ended this little episode.
The senior students wore expressions of anticipation, watching the nervous freshmen as if they were seeing their own past selves.
“No wonder our parents wouldn’t tell us the details of the Sorting Ceremony,” Lilith smiled. “It’s such a wonderful feeling; you only truly understand it by experiencing it firsthand.”
Moriarty's insights were deeper. He watched the Sorting Ceremony attentively. This year's freshmen were no fewer than his class last year, but most of them went to Hufflepuff.
Leon shook his head: "It seems last year had the most new students in Slytherin, and there are too many half-bloods this year."
"Cedric Diggory!" Professor McGonagall called out to the new students, and a handsome boy stepped forward, smiling as he put on the Sorting Hat.
Leon nodded: "Finally, we have a pureblood."
"Don't be too happy yet," Moriarty said with a faint smile. "He belongs to Hufflepuff."
Sure enough, the Sorting Hat shouted without much thought, "Hufflepuff, without a doubt!"
Leon looked sullen when he heard Professor McGonagall call out, "Soldaya Selwyn!"
The little snakes perked up and looked at Soldaya. Leon snorted, "I heard this kid's a troublemaker. He challenged Mr. Moriarty at the Pureblood Gathering and even used the Cruciatus Curse."
The news spread quickly, and senior students from other colleges began to pay attention to Soldaya.
He calmly put the Sorting Hat on his head, and the Sorting Hat soon called out, "Undisputed Slytherin! Moriarty, are you there? You've gained a great ally!"
Soldaya approached the Slytherin table with a broad smile. He saw Moriarty sitting at the top of the table, his back to the professors' seat and facing the snakes—such a position, which could be considered the head of the house, was occupied by Moriarty, a second-year student, while no one from the other three houses dared to sit there, nor did anyone raise any objections!
Soldaya became even more determined in his choice. He walked up to Moriarty and said sincerely, "Sir, I have carefully considered what you said and what Chief Jerry said, and I have done some reflection. I am not used to making such promises. I want to let my performance speak for itself."
"Well then, Mr. Selwyn," Moriarty gestured for him to find a seat, "we'll be looking forward to your performance."
Soldaya obediently sat down at the very end of the long table, and he took in the arrangement of the tables:
Starting with Moriarty, the first person on the right is Leon, the seventh-year prefect, followed by Snake, an upperclassman.
The first one on the left is Jericho, followed by Marcus, Lilith, Gemma, and other upperclassmen.
Finally, there were a few other freshmen like him sitting at the very end.
It was obvious that the front seats on the left were all Moriarty's friends! Soldaya's ambition was quietly growing, and he happened to make eye contact with Jericho.
However, Jericho quickly looked away, because the only newborns left were the Weasley twins.
"Fred Weasley!"
A Weasley put the hat on his head, and the hat immediately shouted, "Gryffindor!"
A round of applause erupted at the Gryffindor table. Percy said to those around him, "It's my brother, I told you!"
However, Fred hesitated to remove his sorting hat, resting his chin on his hand and asking, "Are you sure you sorted it correctly?"
"Confirmed!" the Sorting Hat replied in a deep voice. "Every Weasley is a Gryffindor!"
"You can't have relied on this for sorting all this time, can you?" Fred pressed on relentlessly. "I mean, have you made any mistakes over the years?"
"No! No! No!" The hat seemed angry. "Are you leaving or not?"
"I'm not leaving! Because you've assigned the wrong class," Fred said slowly and deliberately.
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible! I have never misclassified a single new student in the past thousand years." The Sorting Hat declared firmly.
Fred was extremely smug: "You've got it wrong! Because I'm not Fred Weasley at all! I'm George Weasley!"
"What?" The Sorting Hat seemed to have been punched, and Professor McGonagall and the others looked surprised.
Only when another Weasley pushed Fred forward did Fred put his hat on the head of the other Weasley—George—and say with a grin, "Just kidding, I am Fred! Bye-bye~"
"You naughty little rascal!" the Sorting Hat yelled, perhaps as revenge, delaying George's Sorting time and making George a hat-wielding idiot.
George feigned a complaint, "George was right, you've got it wrong! I'm Fred! You don't even know who we are, and you're assigning us to different houses?"
"Who...who are you?!" The Sorting Hat, who had clearly figured out their identities through their active minds, was now completely confused.
"Poor Mr. Hat," George said, taking off his hat and walking away: "I'm George, bye-bye!"
A burst of enthusiastic applause erupted from the Gryffindor table, and students from the other three houses were doubled over with laughter; it was truly hilarious.
