Moriarty emerged from the underground exchange. Once his transformation wore off, he reverted to his original form. With his hands in his coat pockets and his eyelids lowered, he strode towards the subway station in the northwest, like a weary traveler heading towards the next stage of his life.
In fact, Moriarty was indeed going to his next destination, Swan Castle.
The trail went cold again with the werewolf, and Moriarty prepared to talk to Mrs. Swann, but the conversation was very likely to fall apart, so Moriarty had to be fully prepared.
However, the vampires would not let Moriarty off easily. After being driven away by Professor Flitwick, they came to the subway station to intercept Moriarty again.
The two sides fought fiercely in the subway station, attracting the attention of Mrs. Maxim, Professor Flitwick, and others who were nearby.
Although Professor Flitwick was surprised to see Moriarty in France, he immediately fulfilled his duty as a professor and helped Moriarty attack the vampires.
"Mr. Moriarty! Mr. Moriarty!" Flitwick discovered that Moriarty was ruthless and had already tortured and killed several vampires. Blood was splattered all over the walls. Luckily, this subway station was relatively remote, otherwise Muggles would have been terrified if they walked in.
"Mr. Moriarty, stop! This is France! These French vampires should be handed over to the Aurors!" Flitwick advised.
Moriarty gave a cold laugh, his wand spinning incessantly.
French vampires are just as stupid as Greek vampires! And French vampires are even weaker than Greek vampires!
Besides, when have Aurors ever been able to control vampires?
Charlie, Mrs. Maxim, and Delacour stared blankly at the carnage in the subway station, where the blood spurting from a wounded vampire resembled flowers of evil.
"Clap clap! Clap clap!"
The sound of a successful apparition echoed through the air, and squads of French Aurors arrived, quickly surrounding the subway station and capturing the two surviving vampires.
The short, stout wizard who had spoken with Mr. Delacour earlier, wiping sweat from his brow with a handkerchief, rushed to Mrs. Maxim in a panic: "What's going on? What happened? By Merlin's grace, how many healing and memory-erasing charms will this require? And who is that?"
Mrs. Maxim had already recognized Moriarty's signature gray eyes and gray hair, but she decided to play it safe and simply laughed it off, saying, "My dear director, it seems you'll be working overtime tonight."
"Don't say anything later," Professor Flitwick whispered to Moriarty. "I'll handle the French Ministry of Magic. If they use Veritaserum on you, you must first say that you were sent by Professor Dumbledore!"
Moriarty refused Flitwick's offer. He couldn't let the vampires who saw his true face go. In front of everyone, he cast two killing curses in succession, taking the lives of two vampires!
Everyone gasped in shock, then fell silent.
A 12-year-old boy used the Killing Curse to kill a vampire in front of twenty-two French Aurors and the Auror Office Chief!
Is this behavior a crime?
If so, what crime should he be charged with? Who would dare risk being struck by the killing curse to arrest a teenager?
If that doesn't count, what's the point of everything the Aurors did tonight?
No one cares about vampires anymore; their minds are completely captivated by Moriarty.
They saw Moriarty, his face grim, sweep his sharp gaze over the crowd before turning to the short, stout wizard and saying in a deep voice, "The current head of Slytherin has been attacked by vampires without provocation! I demand that the French Ministry of Magic recommend to the vampire leadership that those old fogies sleeping in their coffins give me an explanation!"
The short, fat wizard was so frightened that he burst into tears and sat down on the ground. Moriarty walked past him toward the subway station exit, and no one dared to stop him. Professor Flitwick was stunned for several seconds before pulling Charlie along and chasing after him.
"Moriarty, Moriarty!" Flitwick saw Moriarty walking very fast and, not caring that he was being seen, hurriedly floated to Moriarty's side and took out a handful of small bottles: "You used the Killing Curse, quickly drink these soul-replenishing potions."
Moriarty's expression softened slightly, and he nodded to Flitwick. He had indeed felt a splitting headache after using the Killing Curse several times today.
After feeling Flitwick's kindness, he chose several potions and drank them, which greatly relieved his headache.
Flitwick breathed a silent sigh of relief. He was bewildered by Moriarty's sudden appearance, but he certainly didn't want Moriarty to embark on a path filled with bloodshed.
Late at night, Mr. Delacour, to express his gratitude, invited everyone to his home, and for some reason, Moriarty was among those invited.
After dinner, Flitwick tried to talk to Moriarty. In fact, after the subway incident, Flitwick immediately wrote a letter to Dumbledore explaining the situation.
Tonight will be a sleepless night for many. Just as Madame Maxime had said, the short, stout wizard was busy all night and reported the situation to the French Minister of Magic, von Wiecapet.
Fontys was furious, and the entire Ministry of Magic was in chaos. So many incidents happened in Paris in one night: internal strife at the underground exchange, a fire at the Red Shop, and an incident in the subway!
It involves werewolves, vampires, dark wizards, the Delacour family, Madam Maxime and the Bathbund School of Witchcraft and Wizardry she represents, and Professor Flitwick and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry he represents!
And the most crucial person, Moriarty Slytherin! A 12-year-old who could kill vampires with the Killing Curse! Merlin, perhaps only Merlin knows whether Moriarty used the Killing Curse to kill wizards or Muggles.
News always travels fast. The next morning, Dumbledore arrived in France in a flurry of travel. The moment he appeared before Moriarty, Moriarty was certain that the old man intended to use Legilimency on him.
In the end, Dumbledore still invited Moriarty to speak with him, but good news came from the French Ministry of Magic.
The vampire elites sent Moriarty a coffin through the French Ministry of Magic!
"This is my clan's message to Moriarty and Lytrin! Please open it personally, Mr. Moriarty. Also: If Moriarty returns to France, please remain vigilant." The short, stout wizard read this message aloud in front of everyone at the Delacour family manor, then turned and left.
The coffin was blue and white, made of high-quality materials, and contained no key. Moriarty gently pushed open the coffin lid, revealing a blood-red soft bed with a letter on it.
There was a line of silver lettering on the letter:
"The reason our people have been targeting elves lately is a legend about a headless vampire ancestor—Old Jew."
There was also a line of blood-red writing:
"If Moriarty Slater had never set foot outside England in his entire life, he could have avoided a bloodbath. If you ever come to France again, please be sure to visit my Cheryl Gorge – Quinlan."
Moriarty burned the letter and the coffin. The way things unfolded was beyond his expectations. He hadn't anticipated that the vampires would split into two factions, nor had he expected the legend of the headless vampire ancestor.
"System, are there any missions related to vampires?" Moriarty asked. He vaguely felt that he was caught in a quagmire. The world of vampires did not belong to him, but he was unwilling to give up the investigation.
The system's cold reply: "No!"
Moriarty shook his head and smiled wryly. It was truly unexpected to encounter such a mysterious event on his first trip abroad.
However, the vampire leadership did a good job of cleaning up the mess, and the French Ministry of Magic did not cause Moriarty any further trouble.
Just as Moriarty was hesitating about whether to continue the investigation, Dumbledore and Professor Flitwick approached him and invited him to participate in the All-European Wizarding Duel with Charlie and Fleur.
