Chapter 692 Saving Captain Jack
Chapter 692 Saving Captain Jack (Thanks for your support, brothers)
Under the sea!
Upon hearing Moriarty's words, everyone turned their gaze to the sea.
The azure sea meets the horizon, creating a seamless blend of water and sky.
According to research...
It's time for Hermione's science lesson! She's going on and on.
"Three meters underwater is the maximum depth that an ordinary person can dive to without any protective equipment."
"At a depth of 20 meters, various kinds of fish live here."
"60 meters underwater, that's the depth where orcas live. Orcas are apex predators in the ocean."
"70 meters underwater, the area where whales and sharks live."
"100 meters underwater is the maximum depth that professional athletes can dive to."
"120 meters underwater, this is the area where giant octopuses live."
"At a depth of 150 meters underwater, 99% of the light is absorbed by the seawater, making it pitch black."
"200 meters underwater, the area where giant oarfish live."
"300 meters underwater, the area where giant spider crabs live. Their legs can stretch up to four meters."
"500 meters underwater is the maximum depth that the blue whale, the largest animal on Earth, can dive to."
"900 meters underwater, this is the area where giant squid live."
"1000 meters underwater lies the deepest marine volcano, Mount Simata."
"1280 meters underwater, this is the habitat of great white sharks."
"At a depth of 2000 meters, this is the area where deep-sea dragon jade lives. They have a light-emitting organ in their mouths, which they use to lure prey."
"2250 meters underwater, that's the maximum depth a sperm whale can dive to."
"3000 meters underwater, that's the depth at which deep-sea coral reefs grow."
"4500 meters underwater, this is the habitat of deep-sea anglerfish."
"10909 meters underwater, this is the Mariana Trench, the deepest point on Earth! A no-man's-land."
After Hermione finished speaking, Moriarty clapped and exclaimed, "Hermione Granger, a living encyclopedia!"
Hermione smiled and snuggled up to Moriarty like a kitten.
Marcus looked out at the ocean and said in a deep voice, "The deepest point Muggles can explore underwater is 10909 meters, but I think some magical creatures and fantastic animals from the wizarding world will venture into even deeper areas."
"As a seasoned expert on fantastic creatures, I can confidently tell you that there are far more bizarre monsters lurking beneath the ocean than we imagine."
Moriarty nodded: "Everyone be careful. Whatever happens, it will definitely be related to the underwater world."
Draco watched them talk back and forth, making quick judgments, feeling both shocked and envious.
"They're so amazing, what should I do?" Draco looked around blankly, seeing nothing but the sea. "It seems like there's nothing I can do..."
Draco plopped down on the ground, sprawling out on the sand. The scorching sun baked the earth, but thanks to the tides, the sand wasn't hot, and Draco felt extremely comfortable.
"Look!"
Jericho shouted.
Draco was so startled that he jumped up from the ground.
"What's wrong? What's wrong!"
Draco frantically turned his head, saw the others, and gazed solemnly at the distant sky.
The sky darkened, thunder and lightning raged, and torrential rain poured down. The sea was no longer calm, and the waves crashed violently against a small boat.
"Sea storm!"
Moriarty said calmly.
He has a natural affinity for the sea and the wind; what Muggles see as a natural disaster, a storm, is to him almost like taking a bath.
but--
"Hmm?" Moriarty's eyes lit up. "This storm didn't form naturally; it's being guided by magic!"
"Is someone casting a spell?"
Lilith crossed her arms, her snake-like eyes gleaming with a chilling light.
"It's hard to say whether it's a human casting a spell, or... a demon."
Moriarty carefully examined the magic guiding the storm and found it to be chaotic and crude, clearly different from that of a wizard.
The wizard's magic is more subtle, like a gentle stream, and more systematic, less chaotic.
"It looks like a wild monster."
A hint of interest appeared in Moriarty's eyes.
"1707 was the end of the Age of Exploration, I never expected that monsters still existed in that era."
"In that case, the person on the small boat will be very useful; I must save him."
As Moriarty spoke, he pointed a finger toward the storm at sea, which seemed to freeze in place. Then the gale dissipated, the torrential rain disappeared, and the waves calmed down.
The sky was still thundering, but it was just loud thunder.
"I miss Ishcher," Moriarty suddenly said.
Lilith and Hermione understood Moriarty's feelings. Lilith gently stroked Moriarty's cheek, and Hermione rested her head against Moriarty's chest.
Moriarty hugged the two women, then used a levitation spell to rescue the people on the small boat.
Of the three men, two died and the remaining one is unconscious.
Lilith looked at the unconscious man's clothing. "The Royal Navy of Great Britain?"
"Judging from his uniform and insignia," Hermione added, "he's at least a lieutenant."
Why is he here?
Jericho looked the unconscious man up and down. He was handsome, tall, with a scar on his chin and calloused hands, suggesting he had extensive seafaring experience.
Draco interjected, "Are we just going to watch him like this? Should we give him a potion?"
"I thought you were going to say, 'Give him CPR,'" Soldaya said with a smile. "At least you remember you're a wizard when faced with an emergency."
"Come on, I'm a third-year student too, okay?" Draco rolled his eyes.
As they were talking, the lieutenant woke up.
Who are you?
The lieutenant sat up abruptly, his eyes wary.
But the next second—
"vomit!"
The officer spat out a mouthful of seawater.
"Cleaned up anew." Draco swept away the filth with his staff.
There was no other way; his teammates were too powerful, so the task of handling the emotional complex had to be done by the eldest son of the Malfoy family.
The lieutenant's expression changed when he saw the magic wand. "Was that magic? You're wizards? You saved me?"
Although his voice was hoarse, it didn't stop the officer from asking three questions in a row.
“You guessed right, sir,” Jericho said with amusement, “but why do you know a wizard?”
Jericho didn't believe that Muggles and wizards were living in peace in 1707, since wasn't that the era when wizards were persecuted by Muggles?
"We have a wizard on board," the lieutenant replied truthfully, "to be precise, a wizard hired by the Royal Navy of Great Britain, from a Hogwarts school..."
"Hogwarts?" Draco's eyes widened.
"That's right, that's the name! Strange, how did you know?"
Draco blurted out, "Because we are too—"
Moriarty interrupted him: "He's a wizard too."
"Oh, I understand." The lieutenant nodded as he wrung out a handful of his hair, water dripping from it.
"Everything's been cleaned up." Draco began his work.
The lieutenant, clean as a beard, looked at Draco and said, "Thank you, kid."
"We don't even know your name yet?"
Draco asked with some anticipation, this being the first time he had ever felt a liking for a Muggle.
"My name is Jack, Jack Victor. Royal Navy, Marine Corps Captain on HMS Black Onyx."
As Lieutenant Jack spoke, he gave Moriarty a naval salute.
Why did you salute me?
"Because you saved me. Even if you didn't save me personally, they saved me at your behest."
"How did you know?" Draco blinked.
Jack looked at Moriarty. "Because he's the boss."
"She's the boss's woman," Jack said, looking at Lilith.
"She's the boss's woman too." Jack glanced at Hermione.
Lilith and Hermione exchanged a glance and smiled at each other.
“You have a rustic smell about you,” Jack said to Jericho. “You must have been a cowboy.”
"You two are the boss's henchmen and thugs," Jack said, looking at Marcus and Soldaya.
"Your words..." It was Neville's turn. Jack hesitated for a moment, "You look like a student, probably the boss's apprentice."
"What about me? What about me?" Draco exclaimed excitedly.
"As for you?" Jack looked Draco up and down. "These pajamas are nice."
"Uh..." Draco snapped, "Get to the point!"
The little round ball on the tip of the hat spun around on Draco's head.
"Besides that, you seem to have some connection with the boss. Are you the boss's child?" Jack seemed to have figured something out, but then said, puzzled, "No, no, no, the boss and his two women couldn't have a child your age. So are you just a tool? A chatterbox? A clown?"
Draco's face fell. "But, can we not talk about this?"
But he had to admit that Jack was a very good judge of character!
"Stop talking!" Draco yelled at Jack.
"Didn't you tell me to say it?"
……
Moriarty watched Draco and Jack bickering, finding it amusing, a thoughtful glint in his eyes.
A junior officer, arriving in unfamiliar territory and encountering strangers, remained so calm and had a keen eye, easily winning the favor of others.
Is he really just a junior officer?
