Chapter 309 Jericho loses, Moriarty enters the game.
Perhaps he was seeing things. Moriarty blinked and looked again. The shadow returned to normal; it was just a dark shape with no eyebrows.
No, Moriarty believed his own eyes.
This is definitely not a simple case of misreading things; there's a secret hidden behind the shadows surrounding Duweyne.
Jericho thought so too, and he resolved to continue probing the shadowy figure.
"A dragon has emerged from its cave!"
A black snake emerged from the tip of Jericho's wand.
Duwein glanced at the black snake with some disdain, then quickly looked away.
"Is this curse a required course in our academy? I don't want to be with these filthy, inferior animals."
"Meow~"
Princess Sophie raised her head and shouted proudly, as if to say that only she was worthy to be her master's pet.
Jericho ignored Duveen, manipulated the black snake to twist its body, bypassed Duveen, and leaped towards the shadowy figure.
The shadowy figure suddenly turned around, letting the black snake slither inside.
In Jericho's perception, his connection with the black snake was severed, and the black snake vanished without a trace.
"A shadowy figure that can devour solid objects!" Jericho quickly made the judgment, then a deep sense of doubt arose within him. "What exactly is it?"
Duwen seemed to realize that Jericho was testing the shadowy figure. He tilted his head and thought for a moment, then raised his wand at Jericho. "The dragon emerges from its cave."
A white snake, two or three meters long, shot out from the tip of the wand and lunged at Jericho.
The white snake raised its head, flicked its tongue, and hissed continuously.
Jericho felt a chill run down his spine, his expression shifting between anger and uncertainty as he thought, "Absurd magical reserves, a mysterious shadowy figure behind him, a magic-resistant cloak that defends against most spells, and the powerful physique of a vampire—these are all Duwayne's abilities!"
Although it's hard to admit, Jericho no longer has a way to beat Duwayne.
Even so, Jericho did not give up the fight, swinging his staff to cast an Ironclad Charm on himself.
Duweyen, however, showed little interest in the snake. The white snake had run into an invisible shield, leaving it dizzy and disoriented.
The snakes glared at Duwayne with dissatisfaction. Snakes held a high status in Slytherin, and now Duwayne was treating them like animals, creating an atmosphere of shared resentment among the group.
Duveen had no idea; she was simply testing whether she could cast the "Dragon Emerges from Cave" spell.
Seeing that the white snake's attack had failed, Duwene curled his lip, his eyes gleaming with golden light, and transformed the white snake into a white bat!
For some reason, Moriarty immediately thought of Lady Kova when he saw the white bat.
Two years have passed, but Mrs. Kova's image remains vivid.
Duwein's white bat was different; it was small, with round, bright eyes and a set of small, white, sharp teeth.
The white bat flew up to Jericho and shot two golden beams of light from its eyes, sparking as they shattered Jericho's armor charm with a series of "plop plop" sounds!
"Fuck!" Jericho staggered back, his face filled with horror. "Electric eyes? Even American blockbusters aren't this good!"
"Pfft!"
The white bat flapped its wings twice, and two beams of golden light shot out from its eyes.
Jericho retreated in advance, but barely managed to dodge the golden light that struck his feet and exploded like a bomb.
Jericho was blasted out of the circle and landed hard on his butt.
"Ouch..." Jericho clutched his backside. Well, now he'd have to spend another night at Mrs. Pomfrey's.
Small snakes came over to help Jericho, and some even watered the burning carpet to restore it.
"He lost!"
Duwein shouted, "He lost, now you have something to say?"
Duwen looked around, and the younger snakes all looked away.
Jericho always referred to himself as "Mr. Moriarty's most capable assistant," and although everyone disagreed, no one explicitly objected, which speaks volumes about Jericho's abilities.
But Jericho lost and was defeated by Duveen.
Jericho, helped up by Keith and Larpo, hung his head, looking ashamed.
Jericho began to reflect that Soldaya's enrollment last year had actually posed a threat to him!
Soldaya surpassed Jericho in alchemy, but Jericho didn't care because he felt that the score of just one course didn't mean anything.
This year, Jericho fought hard, but still couldn't defeat the newly enrolled Duveen.
While Duveen's being a vampire certainly played a part, this defeat deeply wounded Jericho's pride.
Looking at Duveen, who showed no sign of joy, his eyes had returned to their blackness as he stared at Moriarty. "Now it's your turn. Hurry up."
Professor Snape turned to Moriarty, his face expressionless, but everyone could tell he was saying, "Teach this vampire a lesson!"
The other small snakes also looked towards Moriarty.
Below fifth grade, perhaps only Mr. Moriarty can defeat this little monster.
This is what the younger snakes think; they don't know that many older snakes think the same way!
Moriarty glanced around casually, and when his gaze met that of the young wizard and the professor, he paused slightly, remembering the wizard's formidable reputation.
The name Moriarty seemed to have a reassuring magic, and everyone quieted down.
Princess Sophie keenly noticed that the little snakes had become calm. She sniffed the air, as if Moriarty's scent was truly present in it.
Princess Sophie leaped onto the desk with a "whoosh," sat upright, and stared curiously at Moriarty with her sapphire-like eyes.
Moriarty stepped into the circle, flicked his wrist, and the cedarwood wand landed in his hand.
He held his wand upright, up to nose height, and bowed slightly to Duwayne. "Moriarty Slytherin of the Slytherin family."
Duveen couldn't understand what Moriarty was doing. His parents had given birth to him and then gone back to their coffins to continue sleeping, and hadn't come out since, except for the time with Dracula.
Duveen was raised by Princess Sophie, so the white cat naturally wouldn't teach Duveen the etiquette of wizard duels.
He stood there helplessly, his lack of manners and etiquette naturally drawing ridicule and contempt from the little snakes.
"Hmph," Duwene said, his expression displeased, "Are you ready to fight now?"
"As you wish." Moriarty smiled; an impulsive vampire was easier to control.
"A coffin flew in!"
A large coffin flew in out of nowhere. Duwene recognized the pattern on it; it was the very same coffin he had been locked in on the train!
The thought of being locked in a coffin filled Duwey with shame, and what was most infuriating was that he was actually asleep inside!
So embarrassing.
His anger surged, and Duwene let out a howl, baring four sharp teeth. A pair of wings sprouted from his back, and he took flight with a whoosh.
"Watch me tear down your broken coffin!"
Duwein rushed toward the coffin in mid-air, and just before he was about to hit it, he crossed his arms and grabbed it forcefully.
"Snapped!"
The coffin was torn to pieces by the sharp fingernails. The little snakes were dumbfounded. If that claw had grabbed them, it probably would have torn even their bones apart!
Duveen landed on the ground and proudly raised his chin at Moriarty: "Hmph~"
"Is breaking a curse something to be so happy about?" Moriarty's expression was strange. Then Duveen said, "Watch me, I'll let you sleep in a coffin too! Coffin flying here!"
A powerful surge of magical energy appeared, and Moriarty felt the magical defenses of Hogwarts tremble. Then he heard Duveen say, "Huh? Why didn't my coffin appear?"
Moriarty understood; Duveen was summoning his own coffin, which was being summoned from the Ventura family to Hogwarts.
Hogwarts prevents spatial magic like Apparition from entering, thus preventing the coffin from getting in and causing a tremor.
"Since there's no coffin, I'll just have to let you rest in peace underground." Duwene suddenly curled the corners of his mouth, revealing a sinister smile.
A powerful magical force was brewing. Moriarty locked onto the location: the dark figure behind Duveen!
This is going to be a big surprise!
Moriarty didn't stop him; he wanted to see what the shadowy figure's abilities were.
Duwein's eyes turned from black to gold, and his fingernails slowly grew longer. The shadowy figure behind him frowned.
Yes, there were definitely eyebrows. Moriarty was sure he wasn't seeing things. Two seconds later, the shadowy figure revealed a mouth.
It looked like she was wearing lipstick; her lips were very red.
