The mastermind behind Hogwarts
Chapter 166 Spells Class
Chapter 166 Spells Class
Tonks asked Moriarty what he was thinking about, but Moriarty shook his head and remained silent, saying that she would know when the new brooms came on the market.
Throughout the afternoon, Moriarty tested various parameters of the new broom, with valuable feedback from test pilots such as Tonks, Charlie, Penelope, Leon, and Jericho.
Draco was picked up by Mrs. Malfoy, who seemed to want to say something to Moriarty, but she couldn't find him.
Moriarty meticulously recorded the data and recommendations in a thick parchment notebook, a task that continued late into the night, forcing Jericho to bring dinner to his dormitory.
The next day, which was Thursday.
The second period in the morning was a spells class, so Moriarty slept in, which was quite unusual for him.
Around nine o'clock, Moriarty and the snakes walked together into the Charms classroom, where Professor Flitwick was already there.
He stood in the center of the classroom, on a stack of books as usual, and cheerfully announced, "Ladies and gentlemen, please sit on either side of me, yes, on my left and right."
The boy followed Moriarty and sat to Professor Flitwick's right.
The girl followed Lilith and sat to Professor Flitwick's left.
Now, the boy and the girl are facing each other.
The girls' eyes lingered on Moriarty's face as they whispered among themselves, occasionally letting out a delighted giggle, which then grew louder and more boisterous.
Only Lilith leaned back in her chair, cold as ice.
"She's not normal."
Jericho, sitting diagonally opposite Lilith and next to Moriarty, said to Moriarty.
Moriarty couldn't respond to such a nonsensical question. "Who are you talking about?"
"Who else could it be?" Jericho glanced quickly at Lilith, then looked away as if afraid of being discovered. "Of course, it's Miss Pirivic," he said in a low voice.
"If you ask me, there must be a problem between you two—you didn't go to the dinner table last night, and the young lady didn't say a word! Usually, she would pester me with questions."
After listening to Jericho's description, Moriarty looked at Lilith, who was sitting directly opposite her.
There's a problem between them!
Where does it appear?
Moriarty couldn't understand it. Lilith noticed Moriarty's gaze, gave him a cold look, and then looked away.
Good morning, Professor Flitwick!
The Ravenclaw hawks came in, and the girls greeted their headmaster with sweet smiles.
Professor Flitwick arranged for them to sit behind the snake, with the girls in one row and the boys in another.
Jericho flashed what he thought was a cool smile and flirted with the girl from Eagle School across from him.
His blatant flirting attracted the attention of the boys at Eagle School, and the boy sitting behind him nudged Jericho.
"Blanche, look at Krivat sitting right in the middle. She's the most outstanding flower in the first year."
My friend and I bet you can definitely win her over! After all, you're a brave cowboy, aren't you?
The boys from Eagle Academy chuckled.
Jericho glared at them: "Given up such nonsense! You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Do you think I can touch Penelope? I don't believe you didn't see it."
"What did you figure out?" The boy from Takagaku Academy looked bewildered.
"Pah! Never mind." Jericho shook his head and muttered, "Are all English boys this slow? Seriously."
Moriarty whispered in Jericho's ear, "Unlike you Americans, who are so open-minded, aren't you?"
Jericho was startled, then chuckled, "You heard that, hehe, but I wasn't talking about you—I was just making a comparison—the little boys at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry have sex in their first year."
"Girls are too young; it's not good for their health," Moriarty coldly commented on the school's atmosphere at Ilfamoni Magic School.
Jericho pondered this; no wonder Moriarty preferred spending time with Tonks.
At this moment, Penelope sat down behind Lilith and greeted her warmly, to which Lilith gave a curt nod.
"Alright, children, take out your wands! Now, quickly." Professor Flitwick took out his own wand and held it above his head.
The students from both houses extended their right hands, and with a "whoosh," the wands automatically landed in their hands!
"Oh, I think you're wearing wand sets? That's wonderful," Professor Flitwick said with a smile, "like a unique performance."
The students exchanged smiles and cast grateful glances at Moriarty.
Moriarty asked, "Professor, what are we learning today?"
To be honest, he knew too many spells, but he was still willing to stay in the classroom and learn from Flitwick.
"Great question, let's learn, Freezing Charm!" Flitwick's smile never faded, and now it was even brighter.
"The Freezing Charm is one of the spells you'll be learning in your second year, around March of next year," Professor Flitwick explained. "However, given the turmoil in the European magical world, I've decided to teach it earlier. Lockhart's story tells us that the Freezing Charm can be used against vampires, right?"
The students immediately understood what the professor meant; even though they hadn't bought Lockhart's latest novel, they knew the plot.
The spell Lockhart used to defeat the vampires and annihilate Quinlan was the Freezing Spell!
"Professor!" Jericho exclaimed, "Keeping up with current events! For that, I admire you!"
The students got excited: "Learn the Freezing Charm to punish the vampires!"
"Alright, children," Professor Flitwick waved his wand, "I'll teach you the simplest freezing spell. I don't know the freezing spell that Moriarty—well, sorry, the one that Lockhart used to freeze the Eiffel Tower."
He winked at Moriarty, who smiled back.
Lockhart's story could fool the general public and French wizards who were unaware of his background, but it couldn't fool Lockhart's former headmaster.
In fact, the professors at Hogwarts all knew that someone else had frozen the Eiffel Tower; Lockhart was just stepping forward to cover for that person.
Dumbledore even sent someone to the Himalayas in China to inquire about the situation.
Moriarty was unaware of this at the time. Like the other students, he was imitating Professor Flitwick's wand swings, practicing the wand's spellcasting trajectory.
The freezing spell's magical effect is to freeze the target and stop their movement.
This spell can be used on living things to prevent them from running around, or it can disable inanimate objects such as Muggle burglar alarms.
It was a spell that was not difficult to learn and was used quite frequently. The young wizards spent more than twenty minutes mastering the trajectory of their wands.
Professor Flitwick nodded in satisfaction and said loudly, "Now, turn to page 17 of your 'Standard Spells, Level Two' and repeat after me the spell aloud—Immobulus!"
"Immobulus!"
"Very good, that's it. Read it again, but don't use the wand yet. Immolus!"
"Immobulus!" everyone said in unison, repeating it again. Many young wizards, in order to remember it completely, silently chanted, "Immobulus, Immolus, Immolus..."
But Moriarty had already learned it; he gripped his cedarwood wand and pointed it at the crystal chandelier above: "Immobulus!"
An ice arrow shot out from the tip of the staff, hitting the chandelier with a "whoosh" and freezing it solid.
"Very beautiful, Slytherin, ten points!" Professor Flitwick clapped his hands.
Not to be outdone, Lilith cast a freezing spell on another crystal chandelier. She succeeded only halfway, failing to completely freeze the chandelier, with a large portion of the crystals still exposed.
"Well done, Pillivic." Professor Flitwick still gave her an extra five points.
Jericho, Penelope, and a dozen others became very interested, but Professor Flitwick quickly said, "No, no, no, the target of this lesson's spellcasting is not these poor chandeliers."
The students laughed, but Professor Flitwick's next words froze their smiles.
"Do you see the students across from you?"
That's right, you guessed it, your target is him or her!
Professor Flitwick waved his hands back and forth: "Ladies and gentlemen sitting face to face, pair up, quick, get started!"
"Oh, now we're 'Mr.' and 'Ms.' again," Jericho quipped. "Before, we were 'children.' I can tell your dean is very happy today."
He started chatting and laughing with the girl from Takagaku across from him.
Since they were facing each other directly, Moriarty and Lilith immediately locked eyes, but neither of them spoke first.
Penelope seized the opportunity and said, "Moriati, would you like to team up with me?"
She added with a charming smile, "We're right in front of each other, so I'd like you to conjure up a few moving objects so I can practice my accuracy."
Moriarty agreed, and Lilith turned her face away and found a boy from Eagle School behind Moriarty to practice with.
"Oh, Merlin!" Professor Flitwick said to Penelope. "My child, you've reminded me! Ravenclaw, add five points."
Then he said to the students, "We can't use freezing spells on our classmates while we practice, but you can conjure some objects to practice. Professor McGonagall said that your class has a good grasp of Transfiguration."
Encouraged by the extra points, Penelope smiled even more sweetly. She stepped down from her seat and gracefully approached Moriarty.
