Chapter 149 The Black Dragon of Avalon
Chapter 149 The Black Dragon of Avalon
Lilith lay on the grass, gazing up at the sun in Avalon. The scorching sunlight was blocked by a few floating clouds, radiating a comfortable and pleasant temperature, and casting the shadows of the clouds on the grass.
A gentle breeze blew, ruffling Lilith's long hair. Clumps of green grass danced towards the sun, and she smelled a faint, refreshing fragrance that soothed her soul.
Not far away was a vast flower garden, containing every flower that Lilith could name.
However, they can only stay on the periphery, while the flowers in the center are more vibrant, reflecting sunlight to form colorful bands of light, attracting butterflies to flutter around.
At the end of the flowerbed is a huge lake.
The lake's color is a clearer and brighter azure than sapphire.
It was breathtaking and captivating; Lilith glanced at it from afar and could no longer look away.
However, she noticed a small green boat moored alone in the center of the lake—it had been moored there for an unknown amount of time, and its hull seemed to blend into the water.
The water was still, its surface calm and undisturbed as it had always been, until the vicinity of the lakeside where some sounds arose.
On the other side of the lake is a forest that stretches endlessly towards the snow-capped mountains. The dense and tall trees stand like giants guarding the forest, while various small trees, shrubs, and thickets intertwine like countless little elves running back and forth in the forest.
A few rays of sunlight shone through the gaps in the clouds, making the forest look as if it were sprinkled with gold dust, and the sunlight fell on many small animals.
Rabbits, foxes, squirrels, cats... frolicked and played on the grass, in the flowers, and in the tree canopy.
The two cats walked onto the grass and lay down in a small ditch filled with fallen leaves that had settled over countless years. Ignoring Lilith, they brazenly began their breeding activities...
"Shameless." Lilith blushed and looked away, gazing at the distant, towering snow-capped mountains.
The place was shrouded in mist and lifeless, with the snow covering the mountains like a thick layer of white silk, soft and pure, yet deadly cold.
A cool breeze occasionally drifts through the air, carrying the scent of ancient history, flowing into the forests, flowerbeds, and meadows.
Lilith didn't quite understand, but she could sense that this place was extraordinary, and she felt a sense of pilgrimage, a feeling even stronger than the one she had when she first saw Hogwarts.
She remembered Dracula's last words—"Open! The Gates of Avalon!"
Lilith jumped up. "Is this Avalon? The Avalon where King Arthur pulled the sword from the lake! Is that the sacred lake? The Lake Nymph? Merlin?"
Wow! This is paradise!
Every young wizard has heard the story of King Arthur and Merlin; Merlin is their first idol on their life's journey.
Lilith was no exception. She looked around happily, feeling no fatigue despite being attacked by the virus magic. Her heart seemed to have become one with the fairyland.
"Oh no! Moriarty!" Lilith suddenly remembered that Moriarty was being controlled by Dracula, and she had come here to rescue him.
"Moriarty! Moriarty? Moriarty, where are you?"
Lilith shouted anxiously. She drew her wand, swept up some grass from the ground, and used the "Rapid Fire" spell to launch a large clump of green grass into the air, hoping Moriarty would see her.
A deep, powerful voice rang out from a great distance: "Lilith!"
Lilith looked in the direction of the sound and saw Moriarty standing in the flowerbed, waving his staff at her with a smile on his lips and a commanding presence between his brows, showing no signs of being controlled.
The huge weight in Lilith's heart lifted with a "whoosh," and tears streamed down her face uncontrollably as she ran towards Moriarty.
Moriarty waved his staff, and countless flowers formed a brocade of blossoms that flew to Lilith's feet, carrying her towards the flower garden.
Lilith wiped away her tears before reaching Moriarty; a queen cannot cry. She lightly jumped off the flowerbed, crossed her arms, and glanced at Moriarty sideways.
"That's worrying," Lilith said casually, a hint of curiosity flashing in her eyes. "Tell me, why did you pretend to be controlled by Dracula, and how did you break free from his control?"
"Would he lead us into Avalon if he wasn't controlled by Dracula?" Moriarty smiled. "Entering Avalon requires chanting a spell in both dragon and elven languages. Although I can do it, only Dracula knows that spell."
He chanted a spell, and we were led here by the alchemical matrix. Who would have thought that Merlin had hidden Avalon in the mental dimension he invented!
Lilith nodded slightly, and Moriarty's smile grew even brighter: "As for how to break his control? He already told us when we first met, you know that."
"I know too?" Lilith paused for a moment, then quickly realized what she meant, her mouth slightly agape: "Is it 'Sleeping Dragon, Do Not Disturb'?"
"Yes, Sleeping Dragon, Do Not Disturb! This is the true spell Merlin used to seal Dracula!"
Moriarty raised his staff high, pointing it at the mountainside. "Look, the Headless Horseman is frantically climbing the mountain—after I used 'Sleepless Dragon' to banish him from my alchemy matrix, he fled in panic. I bet his head is hidden at the summit!"
"So that's how it is!" Lilith blinked her beautiful eyes. If Moriarty hadn't reminded her, she really wouldn't have noticed that there was a small silver-white dot moving rapidly on the snow mountain.
That was the white light reflected from the helmet without armor. Dracula trudged through the snow, his armor trembling as he stepped into it.
"What are we waiting for? Shoot him down! This wretched guy made us run around all that time, he has to die!" Lilith was eager to try.
Moriarty chuckled softly, aimed at Dracula, and unleashed a surge of wind elemental magic, speaking in dragon language: "Sleeping dragon, do not disturb!"
"Boom!"
A tremendous roar erupted, deafeningly loud. Moriarty cast a spell around him, "Block your ears and ears," blocking out the roar.
The snow mountain collapsed, and large swaths of snow slid down the mountain, rushing into the lake like a tsunami. Under the falling snow, Lilith clung tightly to Moriarty, a thin layer of ice shielding them from the flying snow and water.
If the snow hadn't melted and revealed the black mountainside, Lilith would have thought this was the most romantic thing ever.
"What's that?" Lilith pointed to the dark mountaintop. "It doesn't look like a mountain, it looks more like... like..."
Lilith was speechless, and Moriarty frowned as well. Just then, Jericho's voice rang out in the air: "Hey! Sir! Pillivik!"
Jericho carried two deer in one hand and waved vigorously at them with the other, a smug smile on his face.
"Look what I've caught! Top-quality deerskin! We won't be cold this winter." Jericho landed next to Moriarty. "Two stags! I fainted when I came in here, and they licked me awake."
"So you killed them? To repay a debt of gratitude?" Lilith raised an eyebrow.
"Haha, it's their honor to be my clothes," Jericho laughed nonchalantly, then looked up at the snow-capped mountain. "What's going on here? The avalanche scared me half to death; I thought I was going to die. Where's Dracula?"
"Dracula seems to be buried under the snow," Moriarty mused. "Have you noticed that the virus magic weakened after entering Avalon?"
Jericho and Lilith nodded, and another loud noise came from the mountain. To their astonishment, they saw the dark mountaintop move!
At the same time, the lake changed, with wave after wave appearing, and rustling sounds constantly emanating from the forest, as if something was rapidly approaching.
Moriarty gripped his staff tightly, his expression grim, but before he could begin his reconnaissance, the mountaintop rapidly rose and straightened, revealing its full form.
"Merlin!" Lilith covered her mouth.
With a "thud," the buck fell from Jericho's hands.
Moriarty's eyes widened. It wasn't a mountaintop at all, but the coiled neck of a black dragon!
So this snow mountain is actually a black dragon!
The black dragon stretched its neck and raised its head, which was as big as the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch!
It opened its enormous mouth and roared in the dragon language, "Sleeping dragon, do not disturb!"
Moriarty saw a head in the black dragon's mouth and realized that it was Dracula's head.
With a "bang," Dracula flew out of the snow, his body billowing with purplish-black smoke, unleashing all his viral magic.
"Merlin!!!"
Dracula roared at the black dragon, "The seal has been broken by the students of Hogwarts! You can't hold my head captive!"
His tone was filled with intense resentment and rage. A black light emanated from his head, and the virus magic spread out with a "whoosh".
"What do you mean? Merlin is this black dragon?" Lilith was greatly surprised; her mouth hadn't closed since the beginning.
