I'm sorry, but your fiancé loves me.
Chapter 53 Have you no shame? I'm just playing you, can't you tell?
Qin Qihan realized that Yun Muqian was a heartless person.
When Yun Muqian first came to his side, she was very careful in everything she did, even trying not to make too much noise when she walked. One night, he was working on documents in his study until the early hours of the morning when she brought in a glass of hot milk and placed it beside him, softly saying, "Don't overwork yourself."
He was preoccupied with the terms of a contract and didn't even look up, only giving a curt "hmm." She stood beside him, silent for a few seconds, then whispered, "Your eyes are red. Do you want to rest for a bit?"
He thought she was being nosy, but he didn't hold back: "Don't bother me."
She didn't leave. She pushed the glass of milk towards him again, then stepped back to the doorway, stood by the doorframe, and whispered:
"Then I'll leave the door open. Call me if you need anything."
Later, when he looked up, he caught a glimpse of her dozing off against the doorframe, her head nodding slightly, her phone screen still lit up, the page stuck on some financial news she probably couldn't understand at all.
She was clearly very sleepy, but she just wouldn't leave.
He didn't say it, but he felt a warmth in his heart. He thought this woman was really silly, silly in a cute way.
Another time was his birthday. He didn't like celebrating his birthday. Even though his family had a lively banquet, he would only show up briefly. She decorated her place beautifully and bought him a cake and a gift. But he went to Zhou Xue's place and ignored her all night.
At that time, he felt that since she was always there, there was no rush.
When did he start to think she wouldn't leave?
One morning, he woke up from a hangover to find her kneeling on the floor, cleaning up the mess he had made on the carpet bit by bit. Then she brought in some hangover soup and asked him softly, "Does your head hurt?"
He looked at the woman kneeling on the carpet with her back hunched over, and a sense of certainty arose in his heart—she was mine, and she wouldn't leave.
Later on, he took it all for granted.
He complained that the coffee she brewed wasn't hot enough, that the tie she chose was the wrong color, and that she made noises accidentally while he was in a meeting.
He speaks harshly and without mercy, and sometimes he even feels that his words are too harsh, but when he sees her lower her head and say "I know," he feels that she won't take it to heart.
She always quietly accepted everything, and then continued to be good to him the next day, continued to remember all his habits, and continued to put medicine and water by his bedside when he had a cold.
But now, she wouldn't even spare him a glance.
He suddenly realized that those "taken-for-granted" assumptions exposed his foolish convictions in every detail.
He now understands that all her humility, flattery, obedience, and thoughtfulness back then were paving the way for her own future.
She's too clever. So clever that she calculated every single step, completely outmaneuvering him.
Even so, he still felt that she might have feelings for him.
Even if it's just a little, even if she doesn't love deeply, she still loves to some extent.
But if you truly love someone, you wouldn't bring other men home.
Qin Qihan stood at the door, looking down at the pair of leather shoes. The shoes had a rounded shape, and the stitching along the edges of the soles was neat and fine, making them look very expensive. He examined them several times to confirm that they were indeed men's leather shoes.
The oden in his hand fell to the ground with a "thud," spilling out and leaving a small, oily stain on the floor tiles.
"Open the door!"
His voice roared from his throat, hoarse and almost out of control. The door throbbed with a dull thud under his fist, and the motion sensor light on the door frame flickered.
There was silence inside the door for a few seconds, then footsteps could be heard, unhurried and slow.
Then the door opened a crack, and Yun Muqian's face appeared in the gap. She was wearing a light tank top, her hair loosely draped over her shoulders, and her expression carried a faint weariness of being disturbed from her sleep. She frowned slightly upon seeing him.
"What are you doing, banging on the door so late at night?"
"And you're dressed like this." Qin Qihan stood at the door, her chest heaving, her breathing heavy and rapid. "Who came to your house?"
Yun Muqian leaned against the doorframe, showing no intention of letting him in. Her expression was calm and indifferent: "It's none of your business."
"So you really are with someone else?"
Yun Muqian looked at him and did not deny it.
Qin Qihan clenched his fists and took a deep breath: "Yun Muqian, let me talk to him."
"He's taking a shower." Yun Muqian's tone was indifferent, as if she were talking about something trivial. "Is there something you need?"
Qin Qihan didn't say anything more. He placed his palm on the door and pushed it in with great force. Yun Muqian was pushed back two steps by him, and the door was pushed open completely. He stepped in, passed through the entryway, and strode towards the tightly closed bathroom door at the end of the living room.
When his hand touched the bathroom doorknob, all he could think about was killing this damned man. He twisted it hard and pushed it open.
The bathroom was steamy, but there was no one inside. The towels were still hanging on the rack, and in the misty steam, only his silhouette standing in the doorway was reflected on the foggy mirror.
Qin Qihan stood at the bathroom door, looking at the empty shower room. After a few seconds, she slowly turned around.
Yun Muqian sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, holding a white mug in her hand. She took a sip of coffee, her gaze falling over the rim of the mug onto his face, a faint smile playing on her lips.
"Nobody's here," she said, her voice light and airy. "There's nobody in the bathroom."
"You're playing me," he said, his voice aggrieved.
Yun Muqian put down her mug and looked at him: "If I didn't do this, you would still come looking for me. I had no choice."
Qin Qihan lowered his head and said, "It's nothing."
His voice was soft, as if he were confirming with himself, "As long as you're not really with someone else, then I still have a chance."
Yun Muqian was stunned: "Qin Qihan, have you no shame?"
