The shadow outside the door paused for a moment, then slowly moved away. The footsteps faded into the distance, but Lin Wan knew that the thing was still outside.

Lin Wan sat at the dining table, looking at the plate of fried eggs. The thing inside the yolk was still moving, moving faster and faster, until it finally broke through the yolk and crawled out.

It's an insect.

It was white, soft, and had many legs. It crawled to the edge of the plate and looked up at Lin Wan.
