A miraculous doctor descended from the heavens.

Chapter 262 The Gentleness of the Wooden Beauty

After seeing Su Man'er off on the direct bus to the airport on Portland Street, Gu Feng returned home. Looking at the cold and deserted house, he couldn't help but feel empty inside.

I was sitting on the sofa, lost in thought, when the phone rang.

"Hello, doctor, is that you?" A gentle yet magnetic voice came from the phone.

Gu Feng immediately recognized the voice as that of Shi Yurou.

"Ms. Shi..."

"Doctor, could you please stop calling me Ms. Shi from now on?" Shi Yurou chuckled on the other end of the phone.

"Then what should I call you?" Gu Feng asked.

"Call me by my name. If you don't mind, you can call me Sister Rou like Man'er does."

"Oh. Then you shouldn't call me doctor anymore," Gu Feng said.

"Then what should I call you?" Shi Yurou asked, mimicking Gu Feng's tone.

"Call me by my name. If you don't mind, call me like an older sister..." Gu Feng mimicked her tone.

"Darling?" Shi Yurou interjected from the other end.

Gu Feng felt a chill. Su Man'er had only just stepped out the door, and you're already flirting with her? Hasn't that slap in the face scared you enough?

"Hehe, just kidding. Gu Feng, Man'er just called me and said she's on her way to the airport. She probably told you that I'll take care of your daily needs and meals while she's away on her business trip."

She did mention her daily life and diet, but I don't think she mentioned "any needs"? Does that mean you can take responsibility for that kind of need? That last sentence is too ambiguous, and Gu Feng couldn't help but start to have wild thoughts.

"Gu Feng?" Shi Yurou called out softly when she heard no reply.

"Uh, my sister said so." Gu Feng came back to his senses.

"But I'm busy with factory matters right now, so I might not be able to come back in time to cook for you."

"It's okay, I can take care of myself, you go about your business."

"Well... anyway, I promised Man'er I'd take good care of you. I can't come back right now, but I've ordered takeout from Yipinxiang Restaurant. Don't worry, I told them not to add MSG, to use peanut oil, and not to use disposable containers. It's definitely not as nutritious as homemade, but it's better than going hungry. Just make do with it, okay?"

These words sounded familiar. Gu Feng thought for a moment and then realized—weren't these the things Su Man'er usually told him? Could it be that these two women had reached some kind of tacit understanding?

"Okay, thanks." Gu Feng shook his head with a wry smile, thinking that he could just make himself some instant noodles, why bother with all this trouble?

Not long after I hung up the phone, I heard the sound of food delivery coming from outside the courtyard.

When Gu Feng went out to take a look, he found that Shi Yurou had ordered quite a lot of things, and she really didn't use a lunchbox. Instead, she used an old-fashioned basket-shaped food container that could be stacked layer by layer.

Two large food boxes, each with seven or eight layers, containing one serving each of rice, porridge, noodles, and soup, and nearly ten dishes.

Gu Feng took the food box and was about to pay when the deliveryman said he had already paid, and left after he signed a form.

Standing there carrying two food boxes, Gu Feng felt it was too much trouble, but he couldn't help but appreciate Shi Yurou's thoughtfulness and consideration.

However, instead of going inside to enjoy the meal, he locked the door, went out, hailed a taxi, and left.

Peng Jingpei is still sick and has no one to take care of her.

He originally intended to come back and tell Su Man'er, but she was going on a business trip. He also intended to buy some groceries to cook for Peng Liangpei, but Shi Yurou had already prepared them for him.

Well, he didn't need to ask for leave or cook. It was as if fate had already arranged everything for him, and it was destined that he would take care of Peng Jingpei.

When they arrived at the Peng family home, Peng Liangpei was still unconscious. She no longer had a fever, her breathing was smooth and steady, her pulse was stable, and her condition had improved significantly.

Gu Feng first went to the bathroom and filled a tub with warm water for her, then added some salt to it.

According to "100,000 Whys", salt is a good electrolyte. When you soak your body in water with a trace amount of salt, the salt will dissolve on the surface of the skin and form a small electric field. This can stimulate the nerve endings in the skin, thereby promoting blood circulation and metabolism, making it easier for the stratum corneum and dirt on the skin to fall off, cleaning the skin, and also lightening melanin.

Gu Feng didn't quite understand what electrolytes and electric fields were, but he knew that adding a little salt to bathwater couldn't hurt.

After preparing hot water, he went to the bedside and gently woke Peng Liangpei.

Seeing her unsteady steps and weak demeanor when she got out of bed, he simply picked her up and carried her into the bathroom. He then gently and slowly undressed her before finally placing her gently into the hot water.

He took a towel and carefully wiped her down, his focused expression as if he were caressing a delicate and precious piece of porcelain.

This was the first time in Peng Jingpei's life that a man had taken such meticulous care of her. She was flattered and overwhelmed, yet also thoroughly enjoyed it. His attentiveness, his thoughtfulness, and his gentleness filled her with an indescribable warmth and happiness.

Gu Feng's medicine was healing her illness; Gu Feng's deep affection, however, was like super glue, slowly piecing her broken heart back together.

After taking a shower and changing into clean and refreshing clothes, Peng Liangpei felt much more energetic.

Gu Feng carried her to the dining table, where he opened the food box and placed dishes and snacks in front of her. Then he picked up a bowl of porridge and fed her spoonful by spoonful. She could no longer hold back her tears, which fell down her cheeks.

"What's wrong?" Gu Feng asked anxiously, reaching out to wipe away her tears again and again.

"Feng, why are you so good to me?" Peng Liangpei's voice was choked with sobs.

"I haven't been good enough to you. Like you said, since I already have another woman, I shouldn't be bothering you anymore, but I just can't control myself..."

"I understand, please stop talking." Peng Jingpei reached out and covered his mouth, gently leaning into his arms, letting her tears flow freely.

For three consecutive days, Gu Feng stayed by Peng Liangpei's side.

He prepared medicine for her, cooked for her, told her jokes, ate, drank, chatted, and slept with her... He took meticulous and thoughtful care of Peng Liangpei, who was used to being independent and self-reliant, allowing her to truly experience the warmth and sweetness of love.

Although she knew perfectly well that all of this was like a beautiful soap bubble that could burst at any moment, she still couldn't help but be drawn into his embrace.

On the fourth day, Peng Liangpei was completely cured.

However, her face did not show the joy of recovery; instead, it revealed a deep sorrow.

Because she knew that once she recovered, she would have to face reality.

"Feng, I wish this illness would last forever. That way, you could stay with me forever, so I wouldn't have to think about anything or worry about anything," Peng Liangpei said softly, looking at Gu Feng.

Gu Feng gently stroked her long hair, smiled, and said, "Silly girl, who wants to be sick all the time?"

"Feng," Peng Jingpei called out affectionately.

"Hmm?" Gu Feng looked up at her.

"Shall we...do it again...?" Peng Jingpei said shyly but bravely.

"But your body..."

"It's all better now, it's okay." Peng Jingpei's eyes were incredibly gentle as she opened her soft, boneless arms and pulled him into her embrace, almost whispering to herself, "You're mine, and no one can take you away from me."

……

Time passed, and then everything fell silent.

Sunlight streamed in through the window, illuminating Peng Liangpei's alabaster skin and reflecting a dazzling glow. Her skin was smooth and supple, her long, flowing hair cascading over her shoulders. She looked so beautiful, as if she didn't belong to the mortal world, but rather a fairy who had accidentally fallen to earth.

With a "click," a dazzling flash went off.

Peng Jingpei raised a digital camera and took a photo of herself and Gu Feng together.

Gu Feng looked at her in confusion, not understanding why she did this.

Peng Jingpei smiled and said softly, "I want to preserve this moment forever."

Gu Feng felt relieved, but a vague feeling remained that something was amiss.

It wasn't until much later, when he looked back, that he realized her smile wasn't natural; it was tinged with sadness, subtly foreshadowing separation and sorrow.

Gu Feng left the Peng family because Peng Liangpei said that her father, Dean Peng, would be coming soon, and asked him to go back first so that she could pack up her things.

Gu Feng considered himself an upright man; having done something, he wasn't afraid to admit it. Just like when he pushed Ding Hanhan down, he wasn't afraid of Ding Lisheng finding out. But Peng Liangpei insisted that he leave first, so he did as she asked.
