Chapter 261 Enough is Enough
"You smiled?" Gu Feng asked cautiously.
Peng Jingpei immediately straightened her face, somewhat embarrassed and angry: "Smiling doesn't mean I can forgive you, and forgiving you doesn't mean I can accept you! Gu Feng, do you know how much you've hurt me? Since you have another woman, why did you still come to provoke me? Why were you still nice to me?"
"I—" Gu Feng stammered again, regretting it so much he wanted to slap himself. If he had known that kiss would cause such a big commotion, he would have... kissed her at home no matter what.
The atmosphere was a little awkward, but at least it brought a bit of life to the otherwise lifeless room. Peng Jingpei tried to make conversation: "Did you go to school today?"
"I went, but I didn't attend a single class," Gu Feng sighed.
Why?
"Don't you know? Our homeroom teacher said that because of what happened at the school gate, we shouldn't go to school for the time being, and we'll have to wait for the school to take disciplinary action." Gu Feng's tone was helpless.
"Why are we being punished? We weren't the ones who made a mistake!" Peng Liangpei said, somewhat indignantly.
"She said this matter has had a very negative impact," Gu Feng said calmly.
"And what about her? In the office... isn't she awful too?" Peng Jingpei blushed slightly, still indignant.
"These two things are different in nature," Gu Feng said objectively.
"Why did you come looking for me?" Peng Liangpei changed the subject.
"I... just want to see you," Gu Feng said softly.
"What's so interesting? I'm not going to die," Peng Jingpei said stubbornly, but couldn't help sighing inwardly. If she continued to agonize over this, she might as well just die.
Gu Feng didn't refute, but inwardly he snorted: If I had arrived an hour or two later, you probably would have really died.
The two chatted casually, about this and that, but neither of them mentioned the incident from yesterday morning again.
After talking for a while, fatigue overcame her and Peng Liangpei fell asleep again.
While he was at it, Gu Feng went to cook porridge for her and called Su Man'er to tell her that he probably wouldn't be able to go home tonight.
On the other end of the phone came the chatter of a group of women, vaguely mentioning things like the Drug Administration and the Industry and Commerce Bureau. Clearly, they were busy preparing to set up a factory.
As night fell, Peng Liangpei woke up for a while, drank some porridge, and then drifted off to sleep again.
Before going to sleep, she saw Gu Feng sitting beside her, looking tired. Her heart softened, and she moved her body further into the bed to make room for him. She glanced at him, but closed her eyes without saying anything.
Gu Feng understood what she meant; she wanted him to go upstairs to sleep.
But it's already dangerous for a man and a woman to be alone in a room, and if they were to sleep together, he really couldn't guarantee that something irreversible might happen.
"What are you pretending to be so proper for? She's already let you sleep with her, why are you still acting all high and mighty?" A voice in his mind cursed him fiercely, and only then did he obediently lie down next to her.
He reached out and gently touched her forehead. She didn't have a fever, so he dared to close his eyes.
Taking care of a patient is tiring work, and Gu Feng fell asleep shortly after closing his eyes.
He didn't know how much time had passed when he felt someone pinching his nose. He opened his eyes groggily and found Peng Liangpei nestled in the blankets, looking at him with a grin.
"Does she still have a fever?" Gu Feng almost instinctively touched her forehead; it was cool and the fever had subsided.
After he touched her, he suddenly realized that this time she didn't dodge.
"You're like a child when you're asleep, not nearly as awful as you are when you're awake," Peng Jingpei replied, seemingly ignoring the question.
Gu Feng dared not respond, afraid that he might inadvertently bring up what happened yesterday morning.
But instead of him making advances, she seemed to be the one provoking him.
She kicked her legs lightly twice, and the blanket slipped off her body.
The two lay facing each other, less than twenty centimeters apart. Gu Feng had dressed her in his clothes; whether he did it on purpose or genuinely forgot, he had only put an outer garment on her, leaving her completely naked underneath.
Gu Feng had a strong urge to reach out and touch it, but unlike in the movie theater, he didn't dare to do anything at this moment.
"Gu Feng," Peng Liangpei called softly.
"Mm," Gu Feng replied.
"Why do you hurt me, yet treat me so well at the same time?" Peng Jingpei asked quietly.
"..." Gu Feng couldn't answer.
"Maybe I was too naive. I should have known she was your woman the moment I saw her, but I still couldn't control myself. Can you tell me what I should do?" Peng Jingpei reached out and gently stroked his face.
At that moment, Gu Feng's mind went blank. He couldn't help but reach out and wrap his arms around her waist, and then slowly pressed his lips to hers.
(Two thousand words of harmony)
Afterwards, Gu Feng lay down on one side, drenched in sweat and panting heavily. Peng Liangpei, however, curled up in a ball, her back to him.
Gu Feng couldn't resist reaching out to stroke her smooth, snow-white back, only to feel her body trembling slightly. He gently turned her around and discovered that her face was streaked with tears. He anxiously asked, "What's wrong?"
"I...it hurts so much," Peng Jingpei said, crying.
A deep sense of guilt welled up in Gu Feng's heart, and he hugged her tightly.
Peng Liangpei threw herself against his chest and burst into tears.
When Peng Jingpei woke up the next day, she still looked weak, but her spirits were noticeably better.
Gu Feng made her breakfast, prepared her medicine, and stayed with her all morning until she got sleepy and wanted to rest, then he left.
But for the entire morning, Gu Feng was puzzled.
Logically speaking, now that they've crossed that line, their relationship should have progressed further, and they should be inseparable and able to talk about anything. There shouldn't be any barriers between them.
He, Su Man'er, and Ding Hanhan are all like this; once it's broken, everything will be fine.
Strangely, Peng Liangpei's behavior was quite unusual.
All morning, although she clung to Gu Feng, nestled obediently in his arms like a kitten, she spoke unusually little. The occasional hint of worry in her eyes made Gu Feng feel quite depressed.
However, he thought that this was probably just a bit of sadness she felt after becoming a woman, and that she wasn't used to it yet, so he didn't think about it too deeply.
After leaving the Peng family, Gu Feng took a taxi straight home. Ever since he learned that taxis existed, he would take one whenever he got lost.
Yesterday, I couldn't find Peng Liangpei's house no matter what I tried, and in the end, a taxi driver took me to the door of Peng's house according to the address I gave him.
Upon entering the house, he found Su Man'er packing her things, and he was startled—even though he had ruined another girl, did she really have to run away from home? He hurriedly went up to her and asked, "Sister, where are you going?"
"Hehe, Gu Feng, you're back. Zheng Lan and I are going to the capital to visit and learn from their factories, to see how the factory buildings are constructed and how the pharmaceutical manufacturing process is carried out. You could say we're going to learn from them," Su Man'er said with a smile.
"Uh... will it take a long time?" Gu Feng breathed a sigh of relief and sat down on the edge of the bed to look at her.
"It won't be long, at least half a month, at most a month, I'll be back." Su Man'er buried her head in packing clothes.
"Oh," Gu Feng replied.
Su Man'er noticed something was wrong with his voice. She looked up and saw that he looked unhappy, so she put down the clothes she was holding, walked over, and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
"You'll be gone for a long time," Gu Feng said, somewhat reluctant to see you go.
"It's okay, Feng. You'll have to learn to be alone eventually. Besides, I'm just going on a business trip, it's not like I'm never coming back. Take good care of yourself while I'm gone," Su Man'er said, holding his hand.
"Oh." Gu Feng wanted to mention the school closure, but then he thought that by the time she came back, he would probably be back at school by then, so he didn't bring it up.
"While I'm away, Sister Rou will stay here, clean the house, and cook for you."
"Isn't Beijing her hometown? Why doesn't she go back?" Gu Feng asked casually.
"We've already chosen the factory site, and she's negotiating the lease. Xu Yan and the others are handling the permits, and I'm going to Beijing. We'll divide the work," Su Man'er explained, then suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right, what about that pharmacist?"
"Yes, I found a master's degree pharmacist for our factory at the university."
"real?"
"You've seen this person before. He was there when I invited my classmates over for dinner last time. He's the one who's very fat, very fat, and very fair-skinned."
"It's him?" Su Man'er remembered Erxi - Gu Feng had only invited a few people back for meals, and Erxi's appearance was so special, and his appetite was even more special, so it was hard to forget him.
"He's about to graduate, and many companies are eager to hire him," Gu Feng said.
"Then you should discuss this with Shi Yurou and get the employment contract signed as soon as possible, lest someone else poach your job." Su Man'er said, glancing up at the clock on the wall before continuing to tidy up. "Time is tight, I have to go to the airport soon. Remember what I said, take good care of yourself, don't eat out, food outside is often unclean and lacks nutrition, and you can easily catch diseases. If you really can't stand it, then eat home-cooked meals."
"...Uh?" Gu Feng stared at her, his eyes wide. The home-cooked meal she mentioned...could it be...Shi Yurou?
"Alright, alright, it's time. Take me to the street to catch a bus." Without waiting for a reply, Su Man'er closed her suitcase and turned to leave.
Gu Feng was stunned for a while before he came to his senses and quickly chased after him.
