Liu Chounu darted out of her own yard, clutching a few green dates in her hand.

She had long anticipated that Yu Xiujuan's shop opening couldn't be kept secret, so she rushed over to Granny Yu and grabbed her arm.

"Granny Yu, what are you yelling about like that?" Liu Chounu shoved a green date into Granny Yu's hand. "Here, have some green dates to soothe your throat. What happened?"

The ugly woman never mentioned that she had already gone to the hair salon to get her hair cut.

He turned and winked at Song Xianglan, looking like he wanted to stir up trouble.

Granny Yu clutched the green dates and cried, "My life is so miserable! What sins did I commit in my past life to give birth to such a shameless thing?"

"To be honest, you committed a lot of sins in your past life. And not in this life either. What exactly happened?" the ugly woman urged.

"Today I went back to my parents' home to deliver New Year's gifts. Right after I finished eating, Er Mazi from the village entrance said he saw Xiujuan in town. I thought to myself, that brat finally remembered to come home after arguing with me and running away."

I hurriedly said I had to go home and wait for Xiujuan to come back. But people said they had run into her several times already. Grandma Yu took a bite of a green date.

"So you went to find her?"

"How could I not look for her? I asked around at every shop. Finally, I spotted her at the entrance of that newly opened barbershop on South Street." Granny Yu patted her chest. "I didn't dare go in right away. I grabbed a man who had just finished getting a haircut and asked him. He said that Xiujuan was the owner of that barbershop."

I peeked through the glass.

Good heavens, she was stroking that man's head and face with both hands. She practically stomped my face on the ground.

"Everyone who runs a barbershop has to wash hair, right?" Liu Chounv chimed in.

"You still can't touch a man's face in public. What's even more infuriating is that Daya was sitting in the shop too." Granny Yu's voice rose another eight octaves.

The ugly woman suppressed her laughter:

"Oh my, Da Ya went too?"

"I stormed in to confront her, and we had a huge argument." Granny Yu slapped her hands in her pockets, making a loud thud. "That little bastard took fifty yuan and pushed me out the door. Do you think I care about her fifty yuan?"

The ugly woman pouted:

"You're not concerned about the fifty yuan; you're upset that Xiujuan gave you too little. She runs a shop and makes a lot of money, yet she only gave you fifty yuan."

This sentence hit Granny Yu's sore spot perfectly.

"I just think it's too little. Her shop is doing so well, and she only gives me fifty..."

Granny Yu didn't finish her sentence.

Yu Pengfei's wife rushed out.

Her hands were covered in laundry soap suds as she pointed at Granny Yu's nose.

"Mom, where did you say Daya was?" Yu Pengfei's wife's eyes widened.

"At Xiujuan's hair salon."

"That shameless bitch Yu Xiujuan!" Yu Pengfei's wife cursed. "She goes out and acts like a slut, trying to drag my daughter down with her to become a whore."

"I knew it! Da Ya was always running off to town. Turns out, her heartless aunt tricked her. That barbershop? It's a brothel!"

Granny Yu was still angry with her daughter.

But when she heard her daughter-in-law cursing her daughter in the street, her anger suddenly turned in a different direction.

"Who are you calling a whore? You're the whore. Your whole family are whores."

Granny Yu sprang to her feet and spat in Yu Pengfei's wife's face, "That's my eldest daughter from the Yu family. Stop spewing nonsense."

"I'm spewing filth? Everyone in town saw her touching a man's face. She's just a prostitute." Yu Pengfei's wife wiped the spittle from her face, refusing to back down.

"You old hag. You have no limits to your favoritism. She dragged Da Ya down with her, I'm going to smash her shop to pieces today."

"You dare call me an old hag?" Granny Yu yelled and pounced on her.

Yu Pengfei's wife is usually very energetic and hardworking in the fields.

He grabbed Granny Yu's gray hair.

Not to be outdone, Granny Yu scratched Yu Pengfei's wife's face.

With a hissing sound.

Yu Pengfei's wife instantly had three bloody cuts on her cheek.

The two became entangled and rolled around in the mud.

A group of neighbors gathered around to watch the commotion, but no one stepped forward to break up the fight.

Everyone stood with their hands in their sleeves, pointing and whispering.

Liu Chounu retreated to the entrance of the Song family courtyard, took out a few green dates from her pocket, and handed them to Song Xianglan and Huang Ronghua's wife.

"Eat dates."

Liu Chounv smacked her lips, "Old Yu's fighting spirit isn't what it used to be. In the past, she would have slapped him across the face long ago. Today, she can only roll on the ground."

Song Xianglan took the green date, took a bite, and heard a crisp sound.

Click.

Click.

"Old Mrs. Yu doesn't suffer losses. Look at her." Song Xianglan raised her chin.

In the mud, Yu Pengfei's wife was hitting Yu's mother-in-law.

Granny Yu was too old and weak to fight, but her methods were insidious.

She bent one leg and kicked her daughter-in-law's crotch and stomach with all her might, while spitting on her face with both hands.

"Oh dear! You old vile woman!"

Yu Pengfei's wife was kicked in the stomach and was in so much pain that she couldn't straighten up.

Some neighbors couldn't stand it and went to find the Yu family.

A short while later, Yu Pengzhi and Tang Xiuhe rushed over.

"Mom, what are you doing?"

Yu Pengzhi rushed into the crowd, grabbed Yu Pengfei's wife's arm, and forcefully pulled her off of Yu's mother.

Granny Yu was covered in mud, her mouth was full of dirt, and she sat on the ground slapping her thighs and howling.

"Pengzhi, your sister-in-law is going to beat me to death! You beat her to a pulp for Mom. Beat this shameless whore to death!"

Yu Pengzhi blushed as he was called, and clenched his fists, ready to rush towards his sister-in-law.

Tang Xiuhe grabbed the back of his collar and dragged him back tightly.

"Are you crazy? Your brother-in-law isn't home, and you're hitting your sister-in-law? If word gets out, won't you have any shame?"

Tang Xiuhe turned around and shouted at the people on the ground, "It's the New Year, and you two insist on making a fool of yourselves in the street."

Granny Yu howled even louder.

Yu Pengfei's wife covered her bleeding face, and out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of a corner of a bill peeking out of Yu's mother-in-law's pocket.

She lunged forward and snatched the fifty yuan from the old woman's pocket.

"Your daughter has corrupted my daughter. You just scratched my face again. Consider this fifty yuan as compensation for my medical expenses."

When Granny Yu saw that her money had been stolen, her eyes turned red.

What she needs most right now is money.

"That's the money Xiujuan gave me. You robber! Give it back!" Granny Yu scrambled to her feet and lunged at him to snatch the money.

In front of half the village, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law each grabbed one end of the fifty-yuan note and pulled it tightly into their own arms.

"Let go."

"This is my money."

The money was almost torn to shreds.

Neither of them would let go, and they started fighting again.

Yu Pengzhi was furious and rushed over to pull him again.

"Loosen up. All of you, loosen up."

In the chaos, Yu Pengfei's wife was pulled and stumbled, then turned around and slapped Yu Pengzhi hard across the face.

Yu Pengzhi was stunned by the beating, covering his face and standing there dumbfounded.

When Tang Xiuhe saw that her husband had been beaten, she was furious.

She screamed, rushed forward, swung her arm, and slapped Yu Pengfei's wife hard across the face.

Snapped.

Another crisp sound.

The crowd erupted in chaos.

The mother-in-law beats her daughter-in-law, the younger brother-in-law takes sides and gets beaten, and the younger sister-in-law beats her elder sister-in-law.

This play was even more exciting than the martial arts performances on stage.

They were locked in a fierce battle.

The village chief, with his hands behind his back and a grim face, squeezed into the crowd.

"You've gone too far! Stop it!" the village chief roared.

Old Lin followed behind.

The village chief stepped forward and forcibly separated the three women who were wrestling together.

"What kind of behavior is this? In broad daylight, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law fighting each other, do you even have any shame?" The village chief pointed at the three people on the ground.

Granny Yu lay flat on the muddy ground, rolling around and crying.

Yu Pengfei's wife, with her hair disheveled, sat on the ground and howled at the top of her lungs.

Tang Xiuhe stood to the side, tidying up the clothes.

The village chief turned and waved to the villagers who were watching the commotion.

"Everyone, disperse. Stop watching. If no one's watching, they'll get tired and stop fighting." The village chief began to shoo people away.
