"I'll pick out a few boxes and take them over tomorrow morning," Song Xianglan said, taking the soup.

Unlike Fu Bao, who eats everything, You Bao is a picky eater.

A table full of seafood, but he only stared at the abalone and braised pork sandwich.

As for shrimp, crabs, and shellfish.

He would never pick up his chopsticks unless someone peeled the shell clean and handed it to his mouth.

Shen Huijun glanced at him sideways, not intending to indulge his bad habit at all.

Erbao ate quickly. After finishing the meat, he tore off a few shrimp, peeled off the shells in a few seconds, and casually threw them into Youbao's bowl.

"Is your second brother good to you?" Erbao winked at Youbao.

"Okay. Second brother is the best." Youbao happily stuffed the shrimp meat into his mouth.

"After you finish eating, you two wash the dishes and chopsticks," Song Xianglan said indifferently. "There are bones all over the floor in the main room, sweep it clean and then mop it again."

Youbao stopped using the chopsticks in her hand.

He pouted and looked at Song Xianglan with pleading eyes: "Grandma, don't you love me anymore?"

"I don't love you anymore," Song Xianglan answered crisply.

Youbao suffered a major blow, and his shoulders slumped.

"You'd better hurry up," Shen Huijun added from the side. "I haven't settled the score with you guys for taking off your clothes and going into the sea yet."

Upon hearing this, Youbao quickly buried his head in his bowl and frantically shoveled rice into his mouth.

Even the usually most mischievous Erbao became well-behaved.

I didn't dare to breathe.

On the other side, Fu Bao sat on a slightly higher chair, slowly sipping her soup.

She can spit out fish bones quickly and accurately, and she also makes shrimp, crab and shellfish herself. She even ate a big piece of seaweed and oyster omelet.

The shells that had been spat out were piled up neatly and cleanly in front of me.

They were simply enjoying the food.

Xiao Yan looked at Fu Bao with admiration in her eyes.

"Fu Bao is so amazing."

"Fu Bao has been like this since she was little. She eats by herself with a spoon, sitting there slowly and steadily, and she eats everything clean." Shen Huijun looked at Xiao Yan and explained with a smile, "She's also the most worry-free one in kindergarten."

Fu Bao smiled and said, "I'll have another piece of fish."

They ate and drank their fill.

Everyone started clearing away the plates.

Xiao Yan stood up and started tidying up.

"Put it down," Song Xianglan stopped her. "Leave the dishes for those two boys to wash. I've already washed the pot; we're just waiting to fry the meat this afternoon. Go and rest; you can go to work later."

"Xiao Yan, come straight over after get off work tonight." Song Tingting tugged at Xiao Yan's sleeve. "Come play in my room."

"Auntie, I heard from my third aunt that you have a large study?"

Xiao Yan's eyes lit up. "Can I go in and take a look?"

"No problem at all, it's up to you." Song Tingting turned and ran into the inner room. "Perfect timing, I bought a camera, let's take some photos of everyone to remember this moment."

Not long after.

Song Tingting ran out with a Seagull brand camera in her hand.

She wandered around the yard looking for the perfect angle.

Xiao Yan said she wanted to take pictures of herself reading, so she went to Song Tingting's study.

She stood in front of the bookshelf, wearing a wool skirt and small leather boots, looking down as she flipped through a book.

A "click" sound.

Song Tingting pressed the shutter.

Beside the well, Youbao and Erbao squatted on the ground, looking miserable at a large basin of greasy bowls and chopsticks. Song Xianglan stood behind them with her hands on her hips, like a supervisor.

"Mom, look at the camera," Song Tingting called out.

Song Xianglan subconsciously turned her head, and the shutter flashed.

Under the big banyan tree, Fu Bao sat on the swing, while Da Bao stood behind her pushing her. Fu Bao smiled, revealing two rows of small white teeth.

"The lighting is really good," Song Tingting muttered.

They also took a picture of Shen Huijun sitting in a rattan chair drinking tea.

I took quite a few photos with one roll of film.

The bougainvillea in the courtyard, the camellias on the second-floor balcony, and the smoke rising from the red brick houses in the village were all captured on camera.

"Let's go to the beach and take pictures of the in-laws' boat!" Song Tingting waved enthusiastically to Shen Huijun and Xiao Yan.

Shen Huijun put down her teacup, went inside, put on a coat, and put on a hat.

"I want to go too!" Fu Bao jumped off the swing and followed along with her short legs.

"Mom, let's go together." Song Tingting turned around and called to Song Xianglan.

"No, no," Song Xianglan waved her hands repeatedly. "You young people look good no matter how you take pictures. At my age, when I smile, my face is full of wrinkles, like a rotten meat bun that's been sitting out for days. It's a waste of film."

Three women with a little girl.

They left the house chatting and laughing.

Song Xianglan was wiping the stone table with a rag when the courtyard gate was pushed open.

Huang Ronghua's wife came in carrying an enamel basin, covered with a clean white gauze.

"Godmother, you're home." Huang Ronghua's wife said with a smile.

"Have you eaten yet?" Song Xianglan greeted her.

"We've already eaten. We just steamed some wheat cakes at home, they smell wonderful with brown sugar. Let me bring some over for you to try while they're still hot." Huang Ronghua's wife placed the basin on the table, lifted the gauze, and inside were pieces of steaming wheat cakes.

"Your skills are unparalleled in the village."

Song Xianglan didn't stand on ceremony and went into the kitchen to get a plate to pick out the wheat cakes.

I casually put a few boxes of pastries I brought back from Beijing into the enamel basin.

"Tingting brought these from Beijing. Take them back for the children to eat." Song Xianglan handed the bowl back.

"Wow, this packaging looks pretty good."

Huang Ronghua's wife took it. "Tingting's back?"

"I just arrived at noon and took Huijun and Xiaoyan to the beach to take pictures," Song Xianglan asked with a smile. "By the way, when are Ronghua and the others coming back?"

"It will arrive in the next day or the day after."

Huang Ronghua's wife's smile deepened. "He did want to come back with me. But business is good at the end of the year, and I don't feel comfortable leaving it to the store manager."

"Ruzhi is pregnant," Huang Ronghua's wife said in a low voice. "Liu Yukun will take her back to her parents' home to announce the good news."

"Wow, you have it so quickly?"

Song Xianglan clapped her hands. "This is wonderful news! Yu Kun is not young anymore; he should have become a father long ago."

"That's right," Huang Ronghua's wife sighed. "Of those kids who grew up together, Ronghua and I got married the earliest, and Zhou Fang and Zhihe's children are about the same age. Xiang Dong got married later, and Yu Kun has dragged himself down to the bottom."

"However, with the current policy, Yu-kun and Ru-zhi can only have one child in their lifetime."

"One is good."

Song Xianglan waved her hand, "Boys and girls are the same. In the past, there were seven or eight children in a family. We didn't even have enough to eat. We were so busy raising the children that we didn't have the energy to educate them properly. Now, we can raise one child properly."

"That makes sense. But we still miss our son."

The two stood in the courtyard chatting idly.

Suddenly, a sharp, piercing shout came from outside.

"What a disgrace! The Yu family has been utterly disgraced."

Song Xianglan frowned.

Who else could have that raspy voice but Granny Yu?

Huang Ronghua's wife's expression also changed: "What's wrong with Old Yu's wife now?"

The two walked to the courtyard gate and peeked out.

Granny Yu was seen walking aggressively down the road, a broom in her hand, followed by several onlookers.

"Aunt Yu, who are you cursing?" someone nearby chimed in.

"Who are you cursing? You're cursing my shameless girl." Granny Yu spat as she spoke, her face trembling. "Behind my back, she rented a storefront in town and opened a barbershop. She washes and cuts hair for grown men, and she's touching their heads with her hands."

"I said a few words, and they started arguing with me."

"Whom have I worked so hard for my whole life?"

Song Xianglan and Huang Ronghua's wife exchanged a glance.

Yu Xiujuan's business of running a barbershop in town was eventually discovered by Granny Yu.
