Slow to mature after marriage

Chapter 88 Falling in Love

That night, Mu Siwan barely managed to fall asleep until nearly midnight.

When his breathing finally calmed down, Bo Yan slowly opened his eyes.

He stared at the woman in his arms, his eyes filled with a restrained yet intense light.

In the end, he simply lowered his head and gently kissed her hair.

The next morning, Mu Siwan woke up late for the first time ever.

She opened her eyes and instinctively glanced at the clock on the bedside table—it wasn't 7:30, it was 9:30. She paused, startled. The warmth of the chest behind her radiated through her pajamas, burning hot and undeniably present.

She froze for a moment, then slowly turned her head.

Bo Yan had already woken up and was looking down at her.

Good morning, Mrs. Bo.

His tone was casual, as if nothing had happened yesterday.

She opened her mouth, "You—"

"I—" The man raised an eyebrow, "What's wrong?"

She looked into his lazy, smiling eyes and couldn't detect anything amiss. So, that "I like you so much" was definitely just drunken talk.

Mu Siwan lowered her eyes, unsure whether she felt relieved or had other emotions lingering in her heart.

"……fine."

Mu Siwan turned around to get up, but as soon as she propped herself up with her arms, the hand around her waist tightened, pulling her back down.

"So soon?" Bo Yan's voice fell on her ear, low and warm.

Before she could react, he had already hooked her chin and lowered his head to kiss her.

Sunlight streamed in through the window, falling on his profile and her trembling eyelashes. Mu Siwan stared at him, her cheeks burning involuntarily, her fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt tightly.

He stepped back slightly, staring at her intently, his eyes darkening. "When is the forensic expert presentation?"

"Two o'clock in the afternoon..."

"There's still time."

The man's long legs pressed between hers, slowly spreading them apart. His fingertips lifted her nightgown, sliding down her waist, pausing for a moment, then he looked up and smiled, the corners of his lips curving upwards. "Luckily, Mrs. Bo."

Mu Siwan's face flushed even more, and she tightened her grip on his collar. "Now?"

"Is it alright?" Bo Yan bent down and kissed her, his kisses moving casually downwards until she went limp and her body trembled slightly. "You want it too, Mrs. Bo."

Mu Siwan closed her eyes, and a sentence flashed through her mind—"Daytime debauchery."

"Then... hurry up."

-

The result, of course, is that it can't be fast.

When the two came downstairs, Aunt Chen had already put lunch on the table. She looked up and saw the two of them walk into the dining room one after the other. Mu Siwan had her head down, her ears were so red they looked like they could bleed, and Bo Yan followed behind her, his expression normal.

Aunt Chen smiled, pursing her lips, and put the soup down. "The husband and wife have such a good relationship now."

Mu Siwan instinctively wanted to retort, but didn't know what to say. She opened her mouth, then closed it again, and lowered her head to reach for the bowl of soup. Bo Yan sat down opposite her, picked up a piece of pork rib and put it in her bowl, chuckled softly, and showed no intention of retorting.

During the meal, Bo Yan asked her where the lecture was being held.

"Kyoto University."

He nodded. "I'll take you."

Mu Siwan pondered for a moment, then didn't refuse. A free driver—might as well use it.

After finishing their meal, the two changed their shoes and went out. As Mu Siwan bent down to tie her shoelaces, her gaze swept over the platinum watch on the man's wrist, and she suddenly remembered that she hadn't given him the watch she bought yesterday. She stood up and rummaged through the entryway cabinet for a small box.

"I bought you a watch, try it out."

Bo Yan took it and opened it.

Black dial, silver strap—simple and unassuming. He took off the watch from his wrist, tossed it aside, and put on a new one.

The man's fingers were long with distinct knuckles; the watch buckle clicked onto his wrist with a swift, deft motion.

The watch strap hugs the wrist bone, making the lines of that wrist look very clean.

Mu Siwan stared at the hand, recalling how it slid down her side that morning, stopping briefly at a certain point, the fingertips warm, the pressure firm...

Her ears suddenly burned, and she quickly looked away.

"How is it?"

Bo Yan didn't check his watch, but gave her a meaningful look and said slowly, "I like it very much."

-

Even after arriving at Beijing North University, Mu Siwan's thoughts were still in disarray.

The words "I like it so much" kept running through my mind.

He said it once last night, and again today. Mu Siwan didn't know if he was talking about the watch, or something else. She also didn't know if he remembered what happened last night.

She glanced at him sideways. Bo Yan kept his eyes on the road ahead, his expression calm, his hands firmly gripping the steering wheel, the new watch on his wrist gleaming in the sunlight, showing no signs of wear.

Mu Siwan withdrew her gaze and exhaled.

Forget it, I won't think about things I can't figure out.

The car stopped, she opened the car door, and just as one foot touched the ground, she heard his voice behind her.

Are you free tonight? Let's have dinner together.

Mu Siwan instinctively refused.

"I'm busy."

After a few seconds of pause, he added, "Mu Sigui said he would treat me to a meal at the Jingbei Canteen."

She wasn't lying; she really was too busy.

Bo Yan remained unfazed. "I haven't had a proper meal with my younger brother yet either. You don't mind having one more person, do you?"

Meeting the man's deep and determined gaze, Mu Siwan suddenly felt as if something was slowly slipping out of her control.

In that split second of hesitation, Bo Yan had already nodded to himself.

"Then it's settled." He smiled. "I'll come over tonight and have dinner with you all."

She opened her mouth, but no words came out. Bo Yan had already rolled up the car window, leaving only a crack, and his voice drifted out from inside, a lazy smile, "Go in, Mu Siwan."

Bo Yan watched her retreating figure disappear into the school gate, the smile on his lips slowly fading. In its place, a deep and complex light appeared in his eyes.

What came to mind was the woman's low, bewildered, and helpless voice from last night—"Bo Yan, we agreed not to talk about feelings."

Bo Yan knew that his current behavior was shameless. When the 22-year-old girl walked into that coffee shop for a blind date, Bo Yan hadn't missed the surprise and anticipation in her eyes.

But he sat by the window, his tone indifferent, as if discussing a business deal. "Miss Mu, if you can adhere to those three principles, we can maintain a long-term, stable marital relationship."

We don't talk about feelings, we don't interfere with each other, and we treat each other with respect.

This has always been his ideal marital relationship.

He thought he could do it. If he hadn't returned to China, if he hadn't fallen in love with Mu Siwan.

Bo Yan leaned back in his chair and rubbed his nose wearily.

But now, the final result is right here.

He fell in love with Mu Siwan.

So, he'll stop at nothing and try every possible means to make Mu Siwan fall in love with him too.
