Slow to mature after marriage
Chapter 34 Drink More
Bo Yan never expected to run into Mu Siwan here.
He looked away and followed his partner upstairs.
"Mr. Bo, the environment here is a bit basic, please bear with us." The partner said with a smile, "But the project itself is reliable. The foundation has already been expanded to the second phase, as you just saw..."
Bo Yan nodded and hummed in agreement.
The private room is on the second floor. When you open the door, the window seat faces the open seating area downstairs.
He sat down and casually glanced outside.
Then it paused.
She was sitting at the table downstairs.
She was wearing a navy blue work jacket, her hair tied in a neat high ponytail, and was drinking water with her head down. The assistant next to her was whispering something in her ear, his expression exaggerated like a cat with its fur standing on end.
She picked up her teacup and took a sip.
Through the glass, he saw her lips move.
His lip movements were roughly: "He's pretty handsome."
Bo Yan stared at her profile, his gaze fixed.
There was another person sitting next to her.
A man.
He was standing not far away, talking to her with his head turned to the side. She listened, nodding occasionally, her expression as indifferent as usual.
The man picked up the kettle on the table, rinsed the bowls and chopsticks for her, and then put the rinsed bowls back in front of her.
The movements were so natural, as if they had been done hundreds of times.
Bo Yan's eyelids twitched slightly.
She heard someone at the table say something, and the corners of her lips twitched upwards.
It's very light.
It's almost impossible to tell.
But Bo Yan saw it.
She smiled.
She smiled at another man.
The tea swished around on my tongue, but it didn't taste very good.
He put down his teacup and glanced out the window again.
The man was still sitting next to her. He said something and leaned closer to her.
He laughed too.
Bo Yan leaned back in his chair and tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest.
He wasn't listening to what his partner was saying; he was just looking at the table downstairs through the glass window.
His wife was smiling at a man.
A man who clearly had designs on her.
If I'm not mistaken, she even complimented him, saying he was quite handsome.
-
Wang Jin followed Bo Yan's gaze downwards and his eyelids twitched.
Downstairs at the table, the lady was eating with her head down, and the man next to her poured her a cup of tea.
He glanced again at his boss's expressionless profile and his heart skipped a beat.
After hesitating for a while, he spoke cautiously.
"Mr. Bo, your wife is downstairs."
Bo Yan withdrew his gaze, picked up his teacup, took a sip, and spoke in a cool tone.
"I'm not blind."
Wang Jin swallowed hard.
"So...should we pay the bill together later?"
The partner, who was nearby and had sharp ears, heard this and his eyes lit up. He quickly came over.
"So Mr. Bo's wife is here too? How can we let Mr. Bo pay? I'll pay, I'll cover it!"
Bo Yan glanced at him quietly.
Don't be too happy yet.
The partner was taken aback.
Bo Yan put down his teacup and leaned back slowly.
"My wife is a forensic pathologist," he said. "You know, she came here—"
He paused for a moment.
"Is it because someone died here, and you're deliberately hiding it from me?"
The partner's smile froze on his face.
Wang Jin silently took a step back.
"Mr. Bo, what are you saying..." He chuckled twice, "How could that be? It's just a normal construction site expansion. Our project is completely clean."
Bo Yan didn't speak, she just looked at him.
His gaze wasn't fierce; it could even be described as peaceful. But his partner felt a chill run down their spine from his stare.
"Really, really." He wiped his forehead. "There was a little accident when we were digging the foundation a while ago... but it's been taken care of. The police have come. It has nothing to do with our project. It's a problem from before."
Bo Yan withdrew his gaze, picked up his teacup, and took a sip.
"Um."
The partners breathed a sigh of relief.
Bo Yan put down his teacup and glanced out the window again.
Downstairs at the table, she was looking down, picking at the food in front of her with her chopsticks. The man next to her leaned over and said something. She turned her head to listen, her expression still indifferent.
He glanced at his partner again.
"What a coincidence, my wife is in charge of dealing with these kinds of 'legacy issues'."
The business partner was taken aback and followed his gaze downstairs.
Besides Bo Yan's wife, there were several other people in uniforms sitting at that table.
His expression changed.
Bo Yan didn't look at him again, leaned back in her chair, and her gaze fell back on the table downstairs.
Wang Jin stood silently to the side, not daring to utter a sound.
Downstairs, the man poured her another cup of tea.
Bo Yan stared at the teacup and suddenly smiled.
Oh, what kind of tea is this? It tastes so good!
One drink wasn't enough, so you had another one?
He looked away and spoke slowly.
"We at Yanhe will not get involved in this project, Mr. Chen. Please find someone else."
The color drained from the partner's face instantly.
"General Bo, General Bo—"
Bo Yan raised his eyes, his tone indifferent.
"Working with a construction site where someone died behind my back?" He smirked. "Do I look like I've had a death wish?"
The partner opened his mouth, but couldn't say a word.
Bo Yan stood up and straightened his cuffs.
"Discuss the follow-up matters with our legal department."
He pushed open the door and walked out.
Wang Jin quickly followed, giving his partner a sympathetic look before leaving.
The business partner slumped in his chair, his face ashen.
-
Mu Siwan was eating with her head down when she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure passing by the stairwell.
She looked up.
Bo Yan walked ahead at a leisurely pace, his expression detached as if he had no interest in anything around him.
Wang Jin followed behind, glancing in her direction before quickly looking away.
The two went out the door and disappeared through the glass window.
Mu Siwan withdrew her gaze and continued eating as if nothing had happened.
The waiter came over with a tray, speaking with a smile.
"Hello, the bill for this table has already been paid."
Xiao Qin looked up, her face blank.
Who bought it?
The waitress shook her head: "I don't know, it was a gentleman who told me to." After a pause, she added, "Oh, right, before that gentleman left, he added two large pots of tea to this table, saying that everyone should enjoy it at their leisure."
Two large pots of tea were brought out and laid out on the table.
Meng Qing stared at the two pots of tea, his brows furrowed.
"Whose prank was this?"
Li Jiliang chuckled and spoke up from the side.
"These days, there are still people who do good deeds. Not only did they pay the bill, but they also brought over two large pots of tea." He poured himself a cup, took a sip, and said, "After drinking this tea, I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep all night."
Xiao Qin stared at the two pots of tea for two seconds, then subconsciously looked at Mu Siwan.
"Master, could it be that one from before—"
As soon as she finished speaking, Mu Siwan's phone vibrated.
She glanced down at the screen.
Bo Yan sent her a WeChat message.
She clicked on it.
[Bo Yan]: Mrs. Bo, is the tea good?
Tea?
Mu Siwan stared at the line of text for a few seconds.
She didn't drink any water this morning, so she drank tea instead.
What did it taste like? I didn't really pay attention.
She typed a reply to him.
"It seems... to taste pretty good. Would you like some?"
The other party is typing.
It displayed for a few seconds.
Then a period appeared.
【Bo Yan】::
Mu Siwan stared at the period, not quite understanding it.
The next second, a new message popped up.
[Bo Yan]: Then drink more.
Mu Siwan raised her head and glanced at the two extra pots of tea on the table.
I glanced at my phone again.
Suddenly, it dawned on me.
She lowered her head and typed.
[Mu Siwan]: So you ordered the tea? Thank you, I'll try my best to finish it.
On the other end, the "typing..." message flashed for a long time.
In the end, only a punctuation mark weakly appeared.
