His physiological preference

Chapter 147 Unless you're willing to be deceived

Shen Yu paused for a moment.

She turned her head sharply. Qin Yuzheng was standing at the end of the corridor, his coat still on and his collar slightly disheveled. His gaze passed over Shen Yu and landed on Yang Zhiyan.

"You..." Shen Yu's voice trailed off.

Qin Yuzheng found it strange when he saw Yang Zhiyan hang up on him. Bao Bao never hung up on him; sometimes she might be busy and not answer, but she wouldn't hang up without a reason.

So Qin Yuzheng immediately called the family driver, and when he learned that Yang Zhiyan had come to the hospital, he rushed over.

"I'm not afraid of god-like opponents," Qin Guobing's voice came from behind Qin Yuzheng, "but I'm afraid of pig-like teammates."

He stood in the corridor, looking at his wife, and then at Yang Zhiyan, who was surrounded by nurses.

Shen Yu opened her mouth, "Guobing, I..."

Qin Guobing ignored her and walked up to Yang Zhiyan. "Zhiyan, you've been wronged."

Qin Yuzheng had already walked up to Yang Zhiyan. He squatted down and looked into her eyes.

"Are you alright?" Yang Zhiyan shook her head.

Qin Yuzheng stood up and gently lifted her from the wheelchair.

He carried Yang Zhiyan past Shen Yu, paused briefly as he passed Qin Guobing, and spoke clearly:

"You should handle your own wife's situation. But I hope you can give me a satisfactory answer."

Without waiting for Qin Guobing's reply, he carried Yang Zhiyan out of the hospital.

The driver was already waiting at the door, which was open. Qin Yuzheng helped Yang Zhiyan into the back seat, then got in himself and closed the door.

As the car drove out of the hospital parking lot, Yang Zhiyan leaned on his shoulder, his arm around her shoulder, gently stroking her back.

"How did you know?" Her voice was muffled in the crook of his shoulder. "You never hang up on me, and you always call back even if I don't answer."

Qin Yuzheng's voice came from above her head, "Besides, I know my mother better than you do."

The car stopped in front of a small building. Yang Zhiyan looked up from his arms; it was the house they had lived in in Beijing.

Qin Yuzheng opened the car door, picked her up, and said, "We'll stay here tonight, not go back to the old house."

Yang Zhiyan didn't say anything more. She buried her face in his chest and listened to his heartbeat.

The persimmon tree in the yard was bare, with only a few dried persimmons hanging on its branches, quietly under the streetlights.

Once inside, Qin Yuzheng placed her on the sofa in the living room and knelt down to take off her shoes.

As he stood up, his phone rang in his pocket. He glanced at it; it was Grandma Qin calling. He answered and put it on speakerphone.

"Ah Zheng, why aren't you back yet?"

Grandma Qin's voice came through the microphone.

Qin Yuzheng sat down next to Yang Zhiyan. "I don't want to see someone."

Grandma Qin was silent for a moment, then spoke, her tone slightly tentative: "What trouble has she caused this time?"

Qin Yuzheng glanced at Yang Zhiyan, who was leaning against the sofa with her eyes closed and her eyelashes trembling slightly.

He didn't elaborate, saying, "Ask her yourself."

There was a few seconds of silence on the other end of the phone, and Grandma Qin didn't ask any further questions.

"Then take good care of Zhiyan. I'll come to see you again tomorrow."

Qin Yuzheng hung up the phone.

In the Qin family's old house, after Grandma Qin hung up the phone, her face darkened.

She turned around, looking at Shen Yu sitting in the corner of the main room and Qin Guobing standing beside her. Her gaze lingered on Qin Guobing's face. "What happened? Explain yourself!"

Qin Guobing glanced at Shen Yu. "She said it herself."

Shen Yu sat in the chair, her head drooping, her fingers twisted together on her knees, her voice carrying a self-righteous yet guilty tone.

"I just want to confirm if the child is A-Zheng's. I'll have someone take her for a checkup."

Grandma Qin slammed her teacup down on the table with a loud "bang".

His gaze was so intense it sent chills down your spine: "Do you know the risks of amniocentesis? Do you know that Ah Zheng is thirty-five and only just managed to have a child? Are you really going to ruin him before you're satisfied?"

Shen Yu's voice lowered, "I didn't, I just didn't want A-Zheng to be deceived..."

"A man as intelligent as Ah Zheng, almost to the point of being supernatural, can only be deceived if he willingly chooses to be deceived."

Qin Guobing spoke up, "Even if we assume the child isn't Zheng's, as long as Zheng acknowledges him, then he is Zheng's. Why are you interfering?"

Shen Yu opened her mouth, wanting to say something but swallowed it back. Grandma Qin looked at her, really wanting to crack open her head to see what was inside.

"Tell me, who gave you this terrible idea?"

Shen Yu whispered, "Liu Mei."

Grandma Qin turned to look at Qin Guobing, "Who is Liu Mei?"

"Her secretary," Qin Guobing replied succinctly.

"Fire her tomorrow."

Shen Yu suddenly raised her head. "Why? She's been with me for many years, and I'm very comfortable using her."

Grandma Qin looked at her, her tone carrying the last vestiges of an elder's patience: "You've been sold out and you're still helping the seller count the money. You'd better stay away from her as soon as possible."

Shen Yu wanted to say something, but Qin Guobing glanced at her, and the meaning in that glance was clear: you'd better shut up now. Shen Yu didn't say anything more.

The next morning, Grandma Qin went to the small building.

When she came in, she was carrying a thermos containing chicken soup that had been simmering all morning. She put the soup down before sitting down on the sofa and looking Yang Zhiyan up and down.

"Is anything bothering you? Does your stomach hurt? Are you dizzy?"

Yang Zhiyan shook her head. "Grandma, I'm fine."

Grandma Qin was still worried. "If you feel unwell at all, you must say so. You can't just suffer in silence."

Then Qin Guobing and Shen Yu also entered.

Shen Yu was carrying several paper bags filled with tonics and fruit. She stood at the door, her gaze somewhat evasive, unlike her usual composed demeanor.

Qin Guobing walked in front, and Shen Yu followed behind, like a cat that had made a mistake and was being dragged by its owner to apologize.

She placed the paper bag on the coffee table. "Zhiyan, what happened yesterday was my fault."

Yang Zhiyan sat on the sofa, looking at Shen Yu. "Sit down and let's talk."

Shen Yu sat down on the sofa.

Qin Guobing took a document from his inner coat pocket and placed it on the coffee table. "Transfer that private hospital to your name."

Yang Zhiyan looked at the document and said, "I don't know how to run a business."

Qin Guobing said, "It's alright, your mother doesn't know how either. It's all managed by professionals. A Shang will check the accounts occasionally. You can just keep it; all the profits will be yours from now on."

Yang Zhiyan glanced at Qin Yuzheng, who was sitting next to her, and nodded.

She reached out and took the document.

Grandma Qin stayed in the small building and talked with Yang Zhiyan for a long time before leaving near noon. Qin Guobing and Shen Yu also left.

As the car drove out of the courtyard gate, Shen Yu sat in the back seat, clutching her phone. Liu Mei's number was on the screen. After ringing twice, Shen Yu hung up. Then a message appeared: "Madam, please let me go."

Shen Yu looked at the message, her fingers slowly tightening.

It turns out that Mom and Qin Guobing were right; she had been sold and even helped the other party count the money.
