Chapter 113 Considering Proposing

When Yang Zhiyan woke up, it was almost eleven o'clock.

As soon as I propped myself up on the mattress, a sudden wave of soreness and weakness washed over my lower back and abdomen, causing me to sway slightly.

The images from last night uncontrollably flooded my mind, and my cheeks instantly burned.

My back is broken, my legs are weak, and I can barely lift my hands.

She looked at the ceiling and thought, "Isn't it said that a man over thirty is like a man over sixty?"

She recalled last night, when he was like a tireless machine, again and again.

Qin Yuzheng walked in with a water glass and saw her staring blankly at the ceiling. He went over and sat down on the edge of the bed.

"woke up?"

Yang Zhiyan turned to look at him. His expression was one of satisfaction and smugness.

She buried her face in the pillow, her voice muffled.

"My back hurts." Qin Yuzheng put his hand under the covers, placed his palm on her waist, and slowly massaged it.

His palms were warm, and the pressure was just right, neither too light nor too heavy.

"Would you like to sleep a little longer?"

Yang Zhiyan shook her head. "I'm hungry." Qin Yuzheng lowered his head and kissed her forehead.

He pulled her out of the covers and carried her to the bathroom. The toothpaste was already squeezed out, and the water was already poured, warm.

After Yang Zhiyan brushed her teeth and washed her face, I took out her loungewear from the closet and helped her change.

During dinner, Qin Yuzheng asked Yang Zhiyan if she was free that evening, as his sister wanted to have dinner together.

Yang Zhiyan was drinking soup when she heard the word "sister" and almost choked.

She put down the soup bowl and wiped her mouth with a tissue.

"Is she the younger sister you had dinner with in Haicheng last time?"

Her tone held a mixture of curiosity and probing. She felt rather embarrassed thinking back to the misunderstanding.

Qin Yuzheng nodded. "Qin Yuyan. You can just call her Ayan."

Yang Zhiyan's lips curved into a smile. She could finally see her "younger sister".

"Okay," she said, "I've already met the parents, so meeting my sister shouldn't be a problem."

At six o'clock in the evening, dusk had fallen in Beijing. Yang Zhiyan changed into a cheongsam with a petticoat underneath, and her hair was tied up with a white jade hairpin.

She possessed an exceptional air, her every step graceful and elegant. The collar of her cheongsam perfectly concealed the marks of last night.

She turned around in front of the mirror, then turned around again, took out a brocade box from the drawer, opened it and glanced inside. There was a hairpin inside, more exquisite than the one she was wearing.

She made it herself, spending several nights on it, from selecting materials to carving to polishing.

The jade was warm and delicate, and the hairpin was carved with an orchid. The petals were layered and spread out, and a small jade bead was inlaid in the center of the flower. She closed the brocade box and put it in her bag.

Qin Yuzheng leaned against the doorframe, watching her with a slight smile. "For Ayan?"

Yang Zhiyan nodded and patted her bag. "It's our first meeting, so I should bring a gift."

Qin Yuzheng reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "Don't be nervous, Ayan is easy to get along with."

The restaurant was a private kitchen in the city center. When Yang Zhiyan and Qin Yuzheng arrived, Qin Yuyan was already there.

She stood under the ginkgo tree at the restaurant entrance, wearing a mustard yellow knit sweater, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers.

Her hair was tied in a low ponytail, she wore light makeup, had fair skin, big eyes, and a faint dimple when she smiled.

She saw Yang Zhiyan get out of the car, her eyes lit up, and she walked over quickly with long strides.

"Sister-in-law!" Qin Yuyan's voice was clear and crisp.

She walked up to Yang Zhiyan, reached out her hand, and took Yang Zhiyan's hand in hers.

"Sister-in-law, I'm so glad to finally see you! My brother hid you so well!"

As Yang Zhiyan held her hand, looking into her bright eyes and sincere smile, the slight nervousness in her heart dissipated.

Yang Zhiyan sized up Qin Yuyan. She had always imagined that people who did scientific research were all bespectacled, wore white lab coats, were serious, and spoke slowly and deliberately.

Qin Yuyan is not like that. She is very lively and enthusiastic, like a moving flame that lights up wherever she goes.

If Qin Yuzheng hadn't told her beforehand, she would never have guessed that the girl in front of her was a scientist.

Qin Yuyan's scientific research achievements have won national awards, her papers have been published in top international journals, and her name is a respected figure in the industry.

She stood under the ginkgo tree, smiling like a college student.

The three people entered the private room.

A round table covered with a deep red tablecloth, on which sits a vase of white lilies.

Qin Yuyan sat down next to Yang Zhiyan. Qin Yuzheng glanced at her, said nothing, and sat down on the other side of Yang Zhiyan.

Yang Zhiyan took the brocade box out of her bag and handed it over with both hands.

"Ayan, this is our first meeting, and I don't know what you like. I made a hairpin myself; see if it suits you."

Qin Yuyan took it, opened the brocade box, and her eyes lit up when she saw the hairpin.

She carefully took the hairpin out of the box and examined it under the light.

The jade is warm and lustrous, and the carving is exquisite. Each petal of the orchid is polished very thin, and it is almost translucent under the light.

The jade bead in the center of the flower is embedded in the middle of the petals, like a drop of solidified dew.

"Sister-in-law, did you make this yourself?" Qin Yuyan's voice was filled with excitement; her hands were so skillful.

Yang Zhiyan nodded. Qin Yuyan put the hairpin back into the brocade box and closed the lid.

"Sister-in-law, you're so thoughtful and skillful." She pointed to the large paper bag she had brought.

"Unlike me, I only know how to get things done by spending money."

Yang Zhiyan glanced at the paper bag; it was dark green with a gold logo embossed on it, a limited edition from a major brand.

This price is enough for her to pay more than half a year's rent.

"Your words are really enviable," Yang Zhiyan said with a smile.

"My childhood dream was that one day, someone would point their finger at me and call me 'good for nothing except a few stinking bucks.'"

Qin Yuyan paused for a moment, then burst into laughter. She laughed so hard she was slumped over the table, her shoulders shaking.

After laughing enough, Qin Yuyan leaned close to Yang Zhiyan's ear, her voice low but unable to suppress her laughter.

"Then hurry up and marry my brother. Then you'll be a rich tycoon."

Qin Yuzheng sat opposite them, watching the two whispering to each other with their heads close together, but he couldn't hear what they were saying.

His lips curved into a smile as he picked up his teacup, took a sip, and put it down.

"What secrets are you two talking about? The food's getting cold, let's eat first."

Qin Yuyan straightened up and glanced at his brother.

"I told you to get married quickly, so your sister-in-law can spend your money openly."

A boastful tone.

Qin Yuzheng glanced at Qin Yuyan. Hmm, very satisfied. This younger sister is much more sensible than her brother.

Qin Yuzheng picked up his teacup and took a sip of tea.

He really should consider proposing.

Only with legal protection can he remain invincible. His baby is so beautiful and kind; he feels incredibly insecure if he doesn't marry her soon.

His gaze shifted to Yang Zhiyan's face. She was talking to Qin Yuyan, her profile softly illuminated by the light, her lips curved, and her eyelashes curled.

He set a goal for himself: to propose as soon as possible.

The three of them enjoyed the meal very much. Qin Yuyan told Yang Zhiyan about her childhood, saying that Qin Yuzheng was quiet and didn't like to smile when he was little, but he always got first place in exams.

"He looked like a little old man back then," Qin Yuyan said, mimicking Qin Yuzheng's expression when he was a child, with a stern face, pursed lips, and indifferent eyes.

Qin Yuzheng drank his soup expressionlessly; he was indeed a calm and composed person.

But in front of her, there is another side that is unknown to others.
